Thinking of the Contemporary - what do you CR lovers have to say about it?

I am getting to book and want some opinions of people who have stayed there recently. Have there been room decor updates lately? Do the characters still arrive at the the pool in a boat? How was the service? What are my chances of asking for a castle view and getting it?

Thanks in advance!

Love it Love it Love it. We just got back from the CR. We were there over the 4th of July. CMs were great. Room was always clean and the girls princess dolls were very cutely arranged, my fav being the day we came back to the room and the dolls were all sitting in a cirlce on the bed, propped by pillows and some of the snacks we had brought with us were set in front of them like a little tea party.

CG, Concourse Steakhouse, and Chef Mickey's were all great. Didn't get to try the Outer Rim lounge or the Contemporary Grounds coffee shop. Food and fun center was good for quick food and refillable mugs were definitely worth the money.

The pool area was always clean and the lifeguards were very interactive with the kids, not just standing their, but laughing and playing with the kids while watching over the pool area.

We will definitely be going back to the CR. We stayed in the Tower - can't beat that view.

One of my favorites, I love to be able to walk back and forth to the MK (and avoid the lines) plus the rooms are hugh. I wasn't super thrilled with the way the room was done-up (actually it was the "theme" of the room that made me kinda crazy, very busy and loud colors. I liked the way the rooms looked years ago, before the last renovation.
I have seen the pictures of what the rooms will look like when the new renovation they just started is complete(2006??) LOVE IT !! Very modern and nice solid colors. A cross between Ikea stores and a "W" hotel.

Some upper floors have already been rehabbed, many of those are concierage, and they are working their way down. The South Wing is undergoing rehab right now.

Good things about CR:

Huge rooms

Can walk to MK in 10 minutes.

Monorail to Epcot, MK, Poly and GF.

Good restaurants.

Great service.

Fun arcade.

Good shopping selection.

Good rates, compared to other monorail resorts, especially for a wing standard room, which could have a view of the castle.
