I've had family and friends telling me for years that I should start my own Disney trip planning service. Word has just gotten around and I, literally, plan about 3 or 4 trips per month with absolutely no advertising. I do it for free for friends and family. But, I'm thinking I might be able to make a little money on the side doing something I like, so my idea is to create my own website and fan page on Facebook. I'm trying to come up with a name and a good price point. I'm thinking $40.00 to plan the entire trip with daily itinerarties and making all dining reservations, plus giving touring tips.

I need a name that is catchy and easy to remember. Here are the names I've come up with, tell me what you think:

Dis-Girl Magical Vacations
Dis-Girl Trip Planning
Princess Tiffany Magical Vacations
Tiffany's Magical Vacations
Mouse House Vacations
Magical Family Vacations
Magical Mouse Vacations
Cinderella Vacations
Supercalifragalistic Trips & Tips

I'm just going to do this on a local level to make a little extra side money. Just looking for some constructive advice. Remember, if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all :)

Thanks!

i like Mouse House Vacations and Magical Family Vacations. i would LOVE to plan disney trips for a living! good luck! :wizard:

I like Mouse House Vacations best, too.

One thing to consider is if there are any "travel agent" requirements in your state, since you will be setting up a website, advertising for it, and charging a fee. Also, be sure that $40 will cover all your time and expenses for making the phone calls for reservations, ADRs, etc.

Best of luck to you! People always tell me I should do this for a living too, but I would never know how to go about it.

I live in Alabama and I Googled travel agent requirements, just to be sure, and it doesnt' appear that there is any special license or requirements that I could find. But, I don't think I would fall under travel agent anyway, because I won't "own" the reservation. I'm giving advice on resorts, making itineraries and dining reservations, which now can be made on-line quite easily. It usually takes me about 2 hours from start to finish to plan a trip, so that's what I'm going on at this point.

Thanks for the suggestions and kind words!:thumbsup2

Then GO FOR IT!!! :thumbsup2 I'll become a fan for you on FB too when you get it up and running.

Thanks terri01p and karibritt01!!! Ya'll are too sweet! I'll let you know when I get my page up.

You do realize that the DIS is owned and operated by a trip planning agency, right?:lmao:

I've had friends suggest I write a book with trip planning tips, etc as well. I say go for it!! Sounds great. I like Magical Family Vacations myself. Good luck!!

I know! I LOVE the Dis, hopefully, they won't shut my thread down :lovestruc

I do want to say that I tell everybody that is going to Disney to check out the Disboards and will continue to do that. You can't have enough great information!

I am an administrator for a webstore and website.. Check into something along the lines of insurance or responsibilities . . If they have a horrible vacation or a cancelled reservation. It could come back and bite you. People can be sue happy these days.
Something to look into..

Good luck ..

I also like Mouse House Vacations. It has a nice ring to it. I'd love to plan trips for people, but I can't seem to find anyone who wants to go :guilty:
Good luck!

I wouldn't use any name with DIS. People may think your site is associated with the DIS and/or Dreams Unlimited.

If you're offering the same services as Dreams Unlimited and/or any of the board sponsors, you may have trouble keeping your thread open.

Will Dreams Unlimited provide you with a trip itinerary if you don't book your vacation through them?

I think the main sponsor she would be "competing" with is TGM. But with his site, you do the bulk of the customizing it for yourself. He gives you all the great information as a starting point.

I too would make sure that the "client" knows you don't guarantee happiness. I would hate for someone to have a bad time and then give you negative press or a hard time.

That said - I like Mouse House Vacations, but you would be less likely to infringe on Disney Copyright if you go with Magical Family Vacations. :thumbsup2

Good luck!!

Thanks for the suggestion of looking into liability, couldn't her to research that too. But, I'm not going to be making any of the resort reservations, so they will "own" their reservations. I'm just making park day suggestions and itineraries and dining reservations, basically. I figured I'd put some verbage out that said this is all just my personal opinions recommendations and I'm not affilliated with Disney in any way.

I don't think I'm competing with anyone, just thinking of starting my own little business on the side and just wanting a little bit of input from my fellow Disney lovers. If I started an actual site, I know I couldn't advertise on the threads or post my site.

I think Tour Guide Mike and The Unofficial Guide are safe! lol! I'm really just going to start out with a fan page on Facebook and see how it goes from there. But, who knows, maybe I'll hit the big time and write a book of my own and then I can be sponsor on the DisBoards. Ha!

Thanks for the well wishes!

Seems like Mouse House is the front runner. Most of my family and friends think I should use Princess Tiffany. I personally, liked Dis-Girl - guess I could PM Knox or Pete and see if that's an infringement on Disboards. I didn't think of it that way, that's just what my hubby calls me :-)
