Thinking of skipping US in favor of IOA...are we missing out?

I have to agree, The Simpsons ride is stellar an if you are a fan of the show three are soooo many little inside things you pick up. I will say that I wasn't all excited but after riding The Mummy and The Simpson's I became a fan. My DD loved the Childrens play area. My DH loved RRR and my parents and I really liked The Mummy.

IOA & US are my Happy place! Have been 4 times (Going again Oct 6-9 for my first HHN) The different themes, rides are awesome, from the Blues Bros to Jur park,Shrek to Jimmy Neutron(I STILL laugh thinkin about it!)Have stayed in each Hotel (All great, but Portofino )OMG! Its a magical place to vacation, act like a kid & have fun!! Would not skip either park

I went for the first time last October. We were looking forward to our US/IOA trip for years and were really excited about it. There were a few good things that were great to see the first time, but to be honest, I don't think I would return to Universal Studios unless HHN was going on. Even with HHN I would hesitate.

ET was cool. I really liked it even though it had bad reviews. It was way more realistic than most of the other rides at US. It's great for kids and adults.

HRRR was closed when we went.

Men in Black, Disaster and the shows were just okay for us. Nothing phenomenal.

Mummy was the first thing we went on and we were extremely disappointed. The special effects were extremely fake looking and the ride was not very thrilling. HUGE disappointment for us. This was the ride we looked forward to the most at the studios. We were so happy to have no lines for this. We would have been really mad to wait any length of time for this ride.

Twister was okay. It was worth a visit just to see the tornado effect.

Jaws was almost unbearable thanks to an extremely annoying ditzy guide. Wait until night to ride this. It is much better when you can't see anything.

Jimmy Neutron was too rough and blurry. We didn't care for it.

Shrek was just an average 3D movie with slight physical effects.

The Simpson's ride was good. Very realistic and unusual. This made some of the other stuff worth it.

IOA on the other hand was a lot more enjoyable. Mainly because it was themed and had a lot of scenic things to look at. We loved forbidden journey. There is nothing else like it anywhere. I would return just for that ride. We also liked the Poseidon show, Bilge Rat, Dragon Challenge and Ripsaw Falls. Overall, I just think IOA is put together better. Both parks could use more attractions in my opinion.

This is the first person I've seen criticize the Mummy like this. Hey, to each their own but I'll continue to adore the ride. As they say, one less person in line in front of us. :)

The simpsons was really bumpy for me. I spent half the ride with my eyes closed as I was getting thrown all over the place.

I wouldn't call them lame, it just depends on if you like the motion type rides or not. I get motion sick just thinking about them, lol. This is another reason I don't have a hard time skipping the park.

This was the most helpful thing I've read all day!! I get horribly motion sick and can't stand 3D things. We are going in May to see Harry Potter and only have one day and I think I'm totally fine skipping US to just see IOA. I'm not going to tell the kids what they are missing. We are spending the rest of the week at Disney and I think we'll have plenty to do.
