I am a very frequent traveler to WDW. I have thought about DVC in the past but haven't had the means to buy in. In the next few months my finances sho7uld change and I would love to buy DVC. I don't know which resort I would prefer.

If I only buy a small contract through a resale place can I still get the benefits that other DVC owners get, specifically the discount on APs? Does everyone in my family get that benefit? (My minor shildren?)

How do I find out the yearly maintence fees for each resort since that will inpact which one Iultimately decide to purchase.

I will add more questions to this thread as I think of them.

Once you own a DVC ontract, you are considered a DVC member. It does not matter if it was purchased from Disney or via resale. You and anyone who resides at your address will get the benefit of the DVC discount on APs.

Somewhere on this forum is a thread which details the cost per point of dues.
Overall, I think it is stillOKW, even though they had the highest cost per point dues increase this year.

I would advise you to carefully consider what your family's needs are as far before purchasing points. Remember, it is a long-term contract, so oyu don't want to plan for what your family is like now...try to think a bit inot the future. If you have small children now, a studio or 1BR might do. But when they get older, will they want to share a bed? Will they be too big to share a bed? Will you and DW want privacy? Will it be better, as the children grow, to have access to 2 bathrooms? Would it be nice to have a fill kitchen and laundry.

When DH & I bought, we bought the most # of points we could afford comfortably at that time. We worked with those for about5 years, doing some "creative" booking (ie- a moderate for thehigher point weekends and then move to the DVC) to maximize our point availability. When we first bought, we thought we'd be very happy ina studio, which we were, until we stayed in a 1BR!!! ;) For us, once we had experienced a 1BR, a studio paled in comparison. Well, 1BRs are higher point costs than studios...uh oh...we need more points. We wnated to bring friends/family, so we needed to book a 2BR...uh oh...we need more points.

Give it a lot of thought.
