Hello,

I'm once again thinking of moving back to Florida, spent a short year in Orlando 5 years ago. I have a 9th & 11th grade girls.

They are very artistic, one is taking video production, she has pink hair (whole head.lol) , etc. very artsy type.

Other is very artsy also, wants to be marine biologist.

I'm afraid they won't fit in, (in NY now) any high schools in Orlando area that have good art programs and welcome some individuality. Husband works from home so anywhere in the Orlando area is good.
Thanks

I homeschooled so take what I say with a grain of salt and do research. Dr Phillips has a performing arts magnet so they might feel at home there with other artistic personalities, but I've found hanging out with high school aged kids from church that most schools in Orange County are accepting of all kinds of kids. They will gravitate to each other.

Lake Brantley (Seminole County) has an awesome arts program and the elementary school is across the street and they do a lot with/for them with the arts and to help prevent bullying etc.

Avoid Lyman.

Check out Harmony FL, harmonyfl.com I love love love this little town! The schools are "A" schools, highschool is awesome. It's a green, master planned community. It has a Johnny Miller golf course, an old school town square w/ a few resturants & market (more things to come), a few pools, 2 big lakes, miles & miles of hiking/walking/biking trails. It's also a "dark sky" community. We have an activities director w/ lots of fun things going on.

We're located between Disney & the beach! About 25 min each way!

I wouldn't consider a non-essential move if my kids were in high school, especially if one was currently in 11th grade.

I just wanted to say that I loved Harmony! I wanted to buy there so badly when we moved to FL in 2004, but it was too far for commuting. I can't imagine what it's like now 10 years later. It was brand new then.

Tampa has schools for kids in performing arts and other arts. Just a thought to consider Tampa over Orlando.

Definitely check out the schools in Seminole County. We moved here 10 years ago with lots of research...........never regretted it. We are just n North of Orlando....Lake Mary/Altamonte Springs/Longwood etc.
