Does anyone have any tips or advice?

We are not really going to Disney but to my Mom's in Port Charlotte. We can fly into Tampa, Sarasota, Orlando or Fort Myers....

What airlines fly from there? Where do they fly to? I am having a real hateful relationship with Travelocity right now. They show you a lot of flights but when you click on a departure, nothing is available. I have been on there for hours tonight trying for departures from Canadian cities close to us like Halifax, Moncton, Fredericton, etc. I am so sick and tired of it.

We want to go for about 2 1/2 weeks in Feb. If anyone has ideas...please let me know.

Information at the Bangor airport website (www.flybangor.com) indicates three airlines fly from there - Allegiant, Delta and USAirways.
Allegiant flys into the smaller Tampa-area airport in Clearwater (St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport) which is a little closer to your destination than the Tampa airport. Delta flys to Tampa, Sarasota and Ft. Myers. And USAirways flys to Tampa and Ft. Myers.
You should check the airlines' websites to see if any of these options would work for you.

thanks for the advice...I am looking at those sites now.

Does anyone else feel that travelocity is NOT a great tool when looking for flights?

I sometimes use travelocity as a search tool but I never actually book my flights through them. When researching prices I use travelocity, kayak, and orbitz just to price everything out but I only book directly through the airline themself.

I wanted to add you may want to consider pricing things out of Portland. The drive to Portland from Bangor is only about another 2 hours or so and you will find a lot more flight options out of Portland.

We are really looking at Portland too...It would give us a chance to shop as well.:cutie:

I'd estimate that the travel time from Bangor to the airport in South Portland is closer to 2 1/2 hours if you're travelling within 5 mph of the speed limit. And given that your trip is in February the weather may have a big influence on safe speed and time.

But there's little question that there's more airline choice and price competition from Portland than Bangor. Many years ago when we lived roughly half way between the two we always chose to fly from Portland. But when we lived in Bangor we always flew from there.

On the other hand, if you're coming all the way from eastern New Brunswick what's another 140 miles?

We flew Portland, ME to Orlando on Airtran in December and were very happy with the airport and the flight. I ended up paying $54/pp each way ($79/pp - $25/pp coupon they had at the time). We had a short layover in BWI both coming and going (45 min).
