Thinking of you all. Please check in and let the rest of know you and your loved ones are all safe.

All good here, it is one of my favourite cafe's whilst in the CBD, I can see how they would target its particular location being right opposite the channel 7 studios, those poor staff and their customers do not deserve what they are going through right now, I am wishing/hoping for a good outcome, hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Hoping it is all over soon, with no injuries.

I don't understand why target the coffee shop, if he felt the need to target any one, which he obviously did, why not target the TV studio across the road, that way he can use the media get across what ever the point to all this is, without the need to take hostages.

Basically hold the channel 7 network to ransom, to get his message across - he must have one, what ever it must be...I mean a coffee shop???

I think Channel 7 security wouldn't have made it so simple to just walk in, where as the cafe would have no security, easy to access and right opposite. The building is actually very well protected too, lots of marble around the sides and marble columns, with the people blocking the windows it would be pretty safe for him to negotiate what he is trying to achieve. Its good some are out now, I hope they will all be safe soon.

Thanks for that, I have been up there many times, but have not really taken much notice of the places along Martin Place.

Hoping too that it will end soon, though it is almost 12 hours in now, not looking like it will end any time soon, feel so sorry for those poor hostages, the fear they must be feeling would be unfathomable.

I was planning on taking the kids into town to see the Christmas Tree in Martin Place, but I now have decided not to venture into the city any time soon.
Sad isn't it, that .
I actually was in the city last week, took my daughter to see the Nutcracker at the Opera House, it was wonderful.
Praying the rest of these people get out of this all ok, cant imagine what they are going through, terrifying.

It's a very worrying time.

My office is only a few metres from Martin Place, but at the George St end, so 4-5 blocks from the cafe. Went home early - just not worth dealing with the transport during peak hour. I hope it's all resolved ASAP. From what I can tell it's a single nutcase acting alone. I hope it's not more organised than that.

The outcome is terribly sad this morning, with 2 of the hostages losing their lives.

There is a giant Christmas Tree made from Lego in Pitt Street Mall which looks kinda cool, my kids don't have any interest to go see it though, they are such home bodies, but I must admit going to the city isn't something I really feel the urge to do right now.

Sad news, but thankfully it's over. I left work early yesterday due to safety and transport crowding concerns, but back in the office in the city this morning. It's important that one lone lunatic DOESN'T change the way we live our lives. It's disappointing hearing some of the racist and derogatory statements by some people but comforted by the vast majority of people urging calm and peace.

So glad it is over but so sad at the loss of life, so sad for the other hostages, who have to live with the trauma of what happened for the rest of their lives.

May they get the help they need, to survive this
