Hi,

I think I've FINALLY got my wife convinced to buy in to DVC for the first time! Yeah!!

So now I'm trying to figure out how many points to buy and I'm trying to cover a vacation in June 2010. So my question is, if I have a Feb use year, can I make a reservation in 2009 for June 2010 using points that I would borrow from 2011? Or since I'm making the reservation in 2009, would I only have access to 2010 points?

Thanks!

If you have a Feb UY:

Feb 2009 points are good from Feb 1, 2009 to Jan 31, 2010.
Feb 2010 points are good from Feb 1, 2010 to Jan 31, 2011.
Feb 2011 points are good from Feb 1, 2011 to Jan 31, 2012.

You can bank points into the next UY (but you have to do it great than 4 months before the end of your UY).

You can borrow points into the previous UY. (Feb 2011 into Feb 2010).

Both borrowing and banking are final transactions and cannot be reversed.

It doesn't matter when you make the reservation, only when the reservation takes place.

So, yes, you can make a Jun 2010 reservation in July 2009 (at your home resort) using Feb 2010 points and borrowed Feb 2011 points.

This is exactly what I am doing too.

Feb UY with plans for an April 2010 trip. We'll use all 6 banked points from 2009, all 100 points from 2010 and all 100 points from 2011. I'm calling on May 4, 2009 to make the reservation, so even though the 2010 and 2011 points "aren't there", they will be available for my vacation dates.

It's not really like a bank, where the points are "deposited" on a specific date. It is just a way to assign which points are used for which vacations.
