can anyone tell me how First week August is (besides hot) how are crowds?

It will be moderately busy, not terrible and doable, especially if you follow a plan. Anytime kids are out of school, it is busier. In the summer months, we like to get there at RD and leave after lunch to cool off at the pool or take a nap. We can usually get quite a bit done the first 3 hours.

We thought the beginning of August was pretty good crowd wise. We toured in mid-July the previous year, so August was a welcome surprise crowd wise. The giant tour groups were gone! It's still summer so crowds will be summer crowds. The longer we stayed in August the better the crowds were.

August seems like the temp is hotter than the surface of the sun. We got up early, took a midday break and then went out again once the sun went down. We did laundry as we would sweat through our clothes as soon as we stepped out of our hotel.

Summer works this way: crowds increase every week from June 10 - July 4, then decrease every week from July 10-end of summer.

So the first week of August has lower crowds than the last week of July, which is lower than the 3rd week of July, etc.

The crowds should be OK. High, but not impossible. Lots of people, but 60 minute lines instead of 90 minute lines.

The other thing of note that as summer progresses the rainy afternoons begin. So in August you'll see more rain than in June/July. The heat and humidity are just brutal. It's really a beating. So don't expect to be at the park from RD to close. If you're onsite go back for a swim, if you're offsite book some ADRs for sit down meals at like 2pm to get out of the sun and into the A/C for an hour and a half.

We were there the last few days of July and first few days of August last year. I was pleasantly surpised by the crows which were sizable but manageable. I think FP+ had a lot to do with this too. Also the weather was indeed hot, but it was not the intolerable sultry weather I was expecting. We were hot but we stayed hydrated and went right on about our business. No rain to speak of either
