Thinking about upgrading our resort for an upcoming trip from Moderate to Deluxe

Will disney allow going to another resort? Not ideal, but I'm assuming the little boat ( CR/FW/WL) will be operating.

The BLT is small to start with, never mind adding CR to it.
The only time Disney allows using another resorts pool is when it is explicitly stated that due to a pool closure guests can use “X” pool. They don’t get other options besides that.

Zero indications that we will ever see that boat again. I think it’s gone the way of the Disney Springs internal boats 😢

AKL only with a savannah view. WL is so awesome. Having a balcony with littles is nice and sitting on the balcony at night while they are sleeping at night is great.

The POFQ pool is great for little kids. It even has a little kids slide. I would stay there.

I wouldn't even bother upgrading unless it was to one of the monorail resorts. Your kids will most likely enjoy the pool offerings at any hotel. Go with the Contemporary if you are really excited about upgrading.

Another reason I wouldn't 'upgrade' my resort: The family member 'gifted' you POFQ. That was an extremely generous gift. I would not want to offend them by changing the resort. By changing the resort it might seem that you don't think it's good enough. I am going to ignore any crazy comments after this, it is just my personal opinion. :wizard:
I also thought the same thing.

Thanks for the comments, everyone, still undecided as of yet but just wanted to address the "it was a gift so maybe don't upgrade". the person that gifted us just picked POFQ for the reason it was a high rated mid-level resort not because that's where they wanted us to stay for any reason. They would have no issue with us upgrading (we had already discussed this with them). They are on board with us if we wanted to upgrade to a deluxe because in the end, they want the trip to be the best it can be for our kids and us and thought it was a great idea if we did want to upgrade.

i would put in other plug for WL. It has a real WOW factor for kids with the waterfalls, huge atrium and feature pool. And the boat to MK is so much more convenient than a bus.

Good luck on your choice! It’s going to be magical no matter where you go 🤩

Another thought would be to stay at POFQ and upgrade your tix to 6 day park hoppers. This will give you more options. What if you get to your reserved park and it's super crowded and you want to leave early and visit another park after your mid day break? What if your child loves a ride that is at another park but you don't have another day reserved or available for that park? Having park hopper added gives you so much more flexibility with your park afternoon and evenings :lovestruc

Staying at POFQ also gives you access to the pools and amenities at POR which is a huge plus for down time. And....that boat ride to Disney Springs will be a hit for both the adults and the kids not to mention the ease of varied dining and shopping without the need for a bus.

I would vote for the Contemporary since your children are perfect for the updated room design recently completed.
The monorail going thru the resort is a big thing to witness and remember forever. You will enjoy the morning sunrise and evening sunsets and all the boat transportation arriving for the day.
The nightly Electrical Water Pageant was and still is my grandchildrens first memory and they watched that online over and over when they were back home. We still must see it and they are 15&16… Theylove walking to MK and also watching the fireworks from the Contemporary also.
That little pool play area for the Contemporary is really fun and perfect . I was very surprised when I actually saw it.
You won’t have to worry to much about weather because of all the amenities and convenience of the Contemporary. They have their fast food service area with plenty of seating and Chef Mickeys and coffee shop in lobby and Steakhouse 71 . Plus jumping on monorail to go to all those other deluxe resorts for more options.
Also when you see those long lines at the end of the day as you exit the MK and everybody waiting for boat or bus and you just have to walk across street !!! Everytime I am so happy I chose the Contemporary or BLT …

look into if there are any extra late park hours for deluxe resort guests while your there if that can be a factor. Usually parks are very empty and easy to get on rides.

I love POFQ. It's a small resort (not crazy spread out like other moderates) with fun theming and a great pool. Plus a nice boat ride to Disney Springs. I also like the idea noted about of instead of upgrading resorts, extend your park tickets. Then you can take it slower and have more time to relax.

If money is really not an object, of your choices I would pick WL. It is beautiful, has 2 really great pools, good food, boat to MK. It's a great resort for a resort day.

I don't like Contemporary--it just isn't as lush and pretty as the other resorts. It's a sea of concrete. And that pleasant walk from the park--it's across a street and a huge parking lot--there's nothing magical about it. The pool area is not great either (and looks like it will be under construction while you're there). The one advantage of Contemporary over your other choices in my mind is the room is larger and has the twin daybed. (AKL and WL are not that much larger in room size than POFQ.)

AKL is good, but far from everything but AK, and I always feel like the rooms are dark. They do have a lovely lobby and a great pool though. Would be a nice place for a resort day.

Thanks for all the advice, everyone. looks like all the CR Garden rooms got booked that that slightly discounted rate that's going on, so we decided to go with WL which is the way we were leaning anyhow. Might be the only chance we can justify the cost of a deluxe so decided to jump on the opportunity.
