Thinking about switching from CSR to OKW, do any other moderate 1 bedrooms exist?

We are currently booked at CSR and it will be our second time staying there. Due to Covid my mom decided that she shouldn't go (which is understandable), but we needed the second room at CSR due to our party size. Right now we have two rooms there and requested them to be adjoining. Which was partly due to having two of our kids who were going to stay with my mom. With her dropping out we would still have to pay for two rooms, however we noticed that OKW had 1 bedroom rooms (that sleeps five) and it would actually save us money in the end. BUT I have never stayed there before and I am not sure if it would be a good decision or not. My kids are all old now so "kid" stuff doesn't matter.

What do you guys think, any cons in general with OKW? Are there any other moderate resorts that have 1 bedrooms? I am a bit stuck on what would be the best decision.

I don't know whether any of the moderates have 1-bedroom suites, but I would book OKW, especially if it saves some money! The major drawback might be that Disney transportation is limited to buses, but so is CSR, and OKW doesn't have the number of dining options onsite that CSR has. OTOH, a 1-bedroom villa will have not only a full kitchen (great for breakfast, snacks, maybe even simple lunches or dinners) but also in-room laundry, which would mean you could pack fewer clothes and go home with mostly clean ones too (we put a load in the washer in the morning and dry it when we get back from the parks in the evening). The biggest drawback for OKW for us is the lack of dining options.
There is no Quick Service restaurant, only a takeaway window by the dock, which means eating outside or back in your room, which could be a long way from Hospitality House. Olivia's, table service restaurant is okay but fairly limited menu and opening hours.
However the rooms are big and the main pool is nice.

CBR has rooms that sleep 5, but it's just an additional small pull down bed in a normal sized hotel room.

The OKW 1br has a King bed, a queen sleeper sofa, and a chair bed.

Not sure I fully understand the question but from value side art of animations has suite that fits total of 6. Fort wilderness cabins are also available that sleep 6. Not sure how prices compare to OKW 1BR for your stay but figured I’d mention. If you have more info on number of people staying and what your looking for sleeping wise maybe more things may fit (is limit the number of people or you want two sleeping areas)?

Aside from sleeping surfaces, you may want to consider the number of bathrooms.
2 rooms gives you 4 queen beds and 2 bathrooms
The AoA suites also have 2 bathrooms
OKW 1-bdrm has 1 king bed, 1 queen sofa sleeper, 1 sleeper chair, kitchen, laundry, 1 bathroom
AKV-Kidani and BLT have 2 bathrooms (same sleeping options as OKW)

I am looking for two separate sleeping areas as my daughter is taking a friend and I feel like it would be awkward otherwise.

With that, one issue with okw could be logistics of who sleeps where. It should be king bed in main bedroom and pull out queen bed and sleeper couch in living area. If you want to separate to 3 and 2 this may not work logistically unless give main bedroom to daughter and friend.

Edit: If i interpreted setup right the fort wilderness cabins may be better fit. I never staid there but floor plan appears to have queen bed and “twin bunk” in bedroom with queen sleeper sofa in living area.

Just as a note, if you stick with 2 rooms, you need to change the request to CONNECTING if you want a door between the rooms.

All connecting rooms are adjoining, but not all adjoining rooms connect. Just requesting adjoining could get you rooms across the hall, diagonally across, around the corner, or next door but without a door between them.

It may seem nit-picky, but in the travel industry connecting and adjoining mean two different things.

I was thinking my wife and I would use the bedroom, my daughter and her her friend using the pullout and my son using the sleeper couch (he is 12 and really small). The biggest thought is I didn't want to sleep in the same room as my daughters friend as it would make things awkward.

I will go check out FW, as my son obviously could use the bunk in our room. I spent some time yesterday looking at places and there are almost no availabilites which is probably something I should have done before posting here...

The biggest advantage of OKW is that you have a living room with two couches,chair, and a full kitchen. Your idea of sleeping arrangements sounds like it will work. And you can´t beat having a king bed.

Your son would be on a sleeper chair. It is the size of a twin.

The place looks a nice fit, the only concern I have is the resort layout. How do people manage to get from the rooms far away to the main lobby? It looks more spread out than most.

It is a great resort for walking! There is an internal bus that gets you around, and all the buses will stop at the main area before they exit the resort. Many people have their own cars for that reason.

People mentioned the lack of food options, but DS is right there. I don't think the boats are running right now (but I'm definitely not sure on that), but I thought there was a walkway? If not, it is a very quick bus ride.

The OKW one bedroom will have a king sized bed in the master bedroom. In the living room, you will have a queen sized sleeper sofa, a love seat that does not pull out into anything at all (and is too short to sleep on for most people) and a twin sized sleeper chair. Most of the buildings do not have an elevator. It only looks spread out. You can hop any bus to get to the Hospitality House. To get back to your area, you can either take the Internal Bus (before it runs through the resort and not after it has made it's run through the resort) or you can walk over to the Peninsular Rd bus stop just across the bridge from the Hospitality House and catch a bus from there. Otherwise, you just walk to your area since it's about ten minutes from anywhere (just stay on the sidewalk when you can since they cross the road from time to time). The Bus route for theme park buses is Peninsular Rd, South Point, Turtle Pond, Millers Rd and Hospitality House. The Internal bus/Disney Springs bus add a stop at the HH first then follows the rest of the theme park route.

You can walk to Disney Springs, but the walkway is not lit when it is dark. You are limited to walking during daylight. You might have to walk through Saratoga Springs when you get close or around the parking garage since they check temps before you enter DS. The boat is not currently running.

Goods to Go was meant to be poolside eating, so you eat at a picnic table or at the pool or take it back to your villa. Olivia's is a hidden treat and usually (during non-Covid times) you can walk in without an ADR. You can purchase items to prepare or heat up in your villa at the store at the HH.

OK so there is a dedicated resort only bus? It might sounds lazy but if I got put in the southern area I am not sure how keen we will all be walking to say to the pool after our feet are tired. I assume making reservations at OKW is no different than anywhere else in regards to building selections?
