poor DH has just had his eyes tested and they have now become quite bad !

The question is - Do we spend £500.00 on a new pair of glasses
(thats what Boots have quoted) or do we push the boat out and go for the Laser surgery ?

Has anyone had it done and would you recommend it ?

Many Thanks ::cool:

I had my eyes done in 1997. My prescription was -6.5 in both eyes. I'm really glad I took the plunge and did it. It's great to wake up in the morning and not have to fumble round for you glasses to read the alarm clock. I now no longer need glasses at all (although I'm sure as I get older I will still need reading glasses : ).

Touch wood, I've had no problems or major side effects, although I do get a slight halo/star burst effect with one eye at night when looking at lights. Although it doesn't bother me, and the better eye seems to cancel it out.

I had my eyes done at a local hospital, and before deciding to go through with the procedure they gave a talk and tour of the facilities and explained the details of the operation and after care in great detail. They also discussed the possible side effects. They also gave me a detailed examination to ensure I was suitable for the operation.

I found the operation very straight forward and fairly pain free. The actual laser part of the procedure only took about 10 minutes per eye.
At the time I had my eyes done they would only do one eye at a time with a long gap before treating the second eye. But, I believe they now do both eyes at the same time.

If your DH decides to keep with his glasses try SpecSavers, I used to find them very cheap :)

I had laser surgery on both eyes 1 1/2 years ago. I absolutely loved the results. It was well worth the money.

If you husband wants to do it and has passed all the screening tests, then he should consider it. Several of my co-workers have had laser surgery and we all are VERY satisfied with the results.

Good luck !
