Hi there,

We are thinking about renting points from a Dis'er for our 2009 trip. We've never done this before, so I have a few questions.

-How early in advance would we need to book? We are looking at 11/29/09-12/3/09. We would love to stay in a standard studio room at the BWV, BCV, or VWL (whichever is cheapest).

-Can we get Magical Express?

-Can we get the DDP? We are thinking about the new QS DDP.

-I'm assuming money is due in full up front. Are there any additional fees?

Thanks! :goodvibes

See the [thread=1669863]Considering Renting from a DVC Member?[/thread] thread for answers to some of your questions.

It's going to be important for you to be already working with an owner BEFORE you hit the 11-month point, as you're looking at the busiest time of year for DVC bookings. Your owner will need to be on the phone right at the 11-month mark. Your preferred resorts are the smallest DVC resorts, and they book up the fastest.

And those cheap standard view rooms at that time of year are going to go very fast - you are going to need to be lucky in order to get one. Plan on using the full "preferred" view point charts - if you are lucky enough to get standard, cool - but don't count on it.

Hi there,

We are thinking about renting points from a Dis'er for our 2009 trip. We've never done this before, so I have a few questions.

If you go through a member that owns at the property you book at you'll be able to book 11 months in advance. If the owner owns at a different property you will be able to book 7 months in advance. For a stay starting on 11/29/09 you can book on either 12/29/08 (11 months) or 5/29/09 (7 months).

A standard studio at BWV will be the cheapest. You'll want to make sure you do this with someone who owns at BWV though, so you are able to book at the 11-month mark. Standard view at the BWV can be hard to come by for non-BWV owners.

The studios at BCV and the VWL are the same, points-wise. Again, you should go through an owner at the resort you want to stay at for the earliest booking window. The time of year you're looking at is very busy at the DVC properties.

-Can we get Magical Express?

Yes, the member you book through can add it to your reservation for you.

-Can we get the DDP? We are thinking about the new QS DDP.

Right now you are able to add the regular DDP. The counter-service plan is currently not an option for DVC members/reservations, although many think it will be available soon.

-I'm assuming money is due in full up front. Are there any additional fees?

You will have to work out payment details with the member you rent from. There are no other DVC fees.

Thanks! :goodvibes

Good luck!

since you can't talk to MS, the member has to add these items to your reservation. assuming the new dining plan is similar to the current one, you would need to have the member add it at least 48 hrs in advance.

as stated, when the payment is due depends on the individual member. you would just be paying for the reservation - you pay for the dining plan at the resort (but it still has to be set up in advance.)
