Thinking about offsite....

Just returned from a weekend at ASSp. We are due there in four weeks with our niece and nephew , who have never stayed onsite. Since our trip was spur of the moment, we paid rack rate (yuck!).

Anyway, we don't plan on going back for a while and I'm thinking of doing the UNTHINKABLE-staying offsite!

For $54 through value trips.com you can get
Country Inn and Suites at Calypso Cay- a king suite- with sofa bed ,video games
with frig, microwave, coffeemaker, iron, a bunch of other stuff

a deluxe continental breakfast (I think they have French toast)
a zero depth entry pool with slide, playground, arcade, pool bar, mini golf, trans. to parks . I feel the $7 a day parking fee would be justified, since we spent $15 on breakfast one day and $9 the next at the food court at ASSp (my son and I each had cereal).

The buses from ASSp were fine- we never waited for one, but getting around was crazy. We stopped at Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach... took forever!!!!!! Since we get to the parks so early, we are usually parked right up front anyway, so it is just as far as walking to AS bus stop.

Now that EE is back, it makes more sense to stay onsite, but since we have a little one, we really wouldn't care about doing EE at any park other than MK.

After our next trip (in a few weeks) our passes will expire. We will have to buy passes again our next trip- which for all the above reasons, may be offsite.

Wow, I would call back again and try to get something other than a rack rate...new codes listed on mousesavers starting nov. 3...great rates for ap holders...$49 per night ($55with tax)

Over on the Orlando board people rave about that Country inn & suites! I think you can even get it for less than what you found.

Even after staying at 2 wonderful deluxe resorts last month, we are staying offsite in a condo on our next trip. We'll save a ton of money & get more space. I really like driving our own car, and you're right, if you are getting there early, it's very easy.

Don't let the people here scare you into staying onsite

I do have two rooms at ASSp in Nov for $49 each. It was this last spur of the moment trip that we did have to pay rack rate. I made the reservation at 6pm and we arrived at 10pm-that's how spur of the moment it was! A half hour to pack and get dressed, too! Don't get me wrong...we stayed at AKL and it was heaven! I would definitely stay onsite again- as I want to try every Disney Resort. But even with $49 at AS- you are getting such a basic room that CI&S sounds so great in comaprison!

Hi Susy,

I got a great rate at the Country Inn & Suites--$39.50/night, Entertainment rate for 11/29-12/7. This is for the regular room-type "suite" with 2 queen beds, as opposed to a king suite or kid suite. Don't know if the rate is still available, but if so, and you don't mind missing out on the "magic" of staying onsite, it seems to be a good deal. I'll actually be cancelling this ressie soon, however, because I got a better deal at the HGVC through the Armed Forces Vacation Club (DH is retired Air Force).
