My husband and I are thinking about moving from Las Vegas but we don't know where we want to live next. We're from Boston and its just way to expensive to live there now so thats out. We are going to Denver in August to check out the 'burbs. This town has changed so much in since we moved here 12 years ago. I know I'll miss my palms trees but I think that may be all I'll miss.

I know people move all the time but I think I'm a little scared. When I moved here it was to be with him so I wasn't so worried about leaving everything I had ever known, but I think this may be different.

It's tough when you put down roots to up and go, that might be the scary part. I guess I would go wherever the jobs are.
If you have kids I would check out the school system of anywhere you may consider to go. There are so many wonderful places out there, its great to have so many options and the internet is such a great tool to use in your search.

Hi Bostonbrat!
I live in Las Vegas too. But we are moving to Virginia in 2 weeks. I am nervous too. I grew up in Overton (an hour north of Vegas) and moved to Vegas after high school. I've lived in NV all my life and have been waiting for the day when I could finally LEAVE!

I know how you feel. I've been wanting to leave the ugly desert, the rude people (not everyone, but quite a few), the icky schools, the inappropriate billboards, etc. But now that we are finally leaving, I'm worried about starting all over again in an unfamiliar place. And I'm leaving my parents, grandparents, 2 siblings, etc. which makes me a little sad, cause we'll be so far away.

So :grouphug: to you, and good luck to both of us!

We pulled up roots in Missouri and moved to Texas last April, so we have been here 1yr & 2 months.
If all you are going to miss is the Palm Trees you are going to be fine!:thumbsup2 In fact I will take a venture you are going to be happier.:sunny:

We don't have kids so the schools don't concern us. My husband works in IT&S so that is pretty much wide open too. Just need a change. Its not good if you absolutely hate where you live. :sad2:

BBgrizzle this town has changed so much and we HATE it now. When we moved here in 1994 it was so different. The traffic wasn't near as bad as it is now.The people we're as nasty as they are now. Good luck to you in Va. Can I ask what made you pick Va? I know that leaving you entire family is hard. The hardest part for me was leaving my little sister because everything that's happened (family drama) in our lives we went through together. I have two nieces that are 6 & 7 and it kills me that I've missed out on so much of their lives. My sisters do what they can to keep me in the loop. She bought us a web cam and I talk to them on that all the time. Last week I was told that I need to clean my kitchen (by a 7 year) but believe me everyone knows when they are going to see Auntie Jen in Vegas thats all they talk about. So this will be a new experience and you have to go into it with an open mind.

I told my husband that I don't want to live in place that has tornados on a regular basis.

Bostonbrat,
My twin sister and I spent a summer in VA and MD when we were 16 (I have 2 aunts there). We fell in love with it then. To come from the hot, brown desert to a land that is green and has tons of trees and has actual seasons is wonderful. Plus, there is so much cultural and historical stuff around there. As you know, in Vegas, there is nothing like that. Every time I have visited VA, the people have been VERY friendly. And the public schools where we'll be living are excellent, which is great for our 3 DD's. I have wanted to live in VA ever since that summer. In fact, all four of my siblings want to move there too!

Truthfully, if I could, I would choose to live in a small Virginian town near the mountains. But DH is an architect who has designed casinos and highrise towers. There aren't all that many places that need architects who design the big stuff. He was able to find a good position at a firm in Alexandria, VA. So that sealed the deal.

DH moved out there 3 months ago, but I teach Kindergarten and wanted to finish out the school year with my students. The girls and I will be moving out there the day after school gets out. So far he loves living out there.

You'll have to keep me posted on how you like it. I'm thinking that maybe a small town is for us too. As long as I have a Target or even a Walmart notfar way I'll be happy.

Are you driving across the country? I did it twice in seven months, now I refuse to sit in a car for more than 5 hours at a time.

The east coast is very different that NV actually every place is different than NV.

Hey is cold in N LV today? We live down by the South Coast and its only about 77 today.
Ok great we're considering moving to CO and I think 77 is cold. There is something very wrong with me.

HEY BOSTONBRAT: COME ON BACK TO GOOD OLE BEANTOWN!!! AFTER ALL WE HAVE THE RED SOX, THE PATS, HARVARD,THE CHARLES RIVER, STORROW DRIVE, THE NORTH END, RTE 128 and shall I go on....

I know you really do miss it....so just come the heck back!!!

IT IS WICKED COOL HER-AH!!!!

Believe me if we could pay $300,000 for a house and NOT live in a shack thats not 100 years old we would. Its too expensive now.

I could really go for some chinese food or Kelly's.

We left Ma because we wanted something new and now we want to leave Las Vegas cause we want something new.

Oh, Ya, I hear ya! We are from Boston, DH got transfered to the MidWest, we moved there..MAN we were RICH in the MidWest! DH's job brought him back to Boston....yup, we are poor again...hahaha!!! I actually live in Central Ma and we have in our town alone 256 houses on the market and NO ONE IS BUYING THEM....aaahhhh, not good right now!!! We started our own business as we hated all the moving around and Central Ma is not even as bad (price wise) as Boston....!!!!

If I were to leave Boston and move elsewhere...I (at my age) would go where the SUN SHINES 24/7 and the temps never drop below 50 degrees!!! I am sooo done with this COLD, SNOWY weather!! HUM, yup, DISNEY sounds like the place for me!!! :thumbsup2

Good Luck, Bostonbrat, in wherever you and DH settle!! :teeth:
