I have never been to Disneyland and was thinking I should do a race while I am out there.:rotfl:

Could you please give me any info about this race?

I have done 2007 and 2008 Disney World 1/2 marathons and enjoyed them.

Thanks for your help!!!!!

I was looking for feedback on if people liked the race, disliked, etc. Since you are going back, you must of liked it. Congrats on the medal:woohoo:

Lan: I enjoyed it, although I wan't too impressed with the course layout. The beginning is mostly CA and DL, and there were some places that the running lanes were very skinny and people got backed up. Very tight for those first few miles (around 4 miles) Once out into the streets it was better. I was sorry I missed going inside Angel Stadium like they did the two years previous. I mostly had fun hanging with the WISH people and visiting with my cousin and Aunt who live in nearby Fullerton. It was alot of $ to fly out there, get a hotel for a few nights and go to the parks for one day - even with the help of my Aunt. That is why I'm thinking about doing it every other year and not every year.
The Parks part was cool and DL had alot of characters out for photo ops. Loved getting the first Coast to Coast medal. I may be partial but I enjoy the WDW Half more then the DL Half.

Thanks for your response. I have never been to Disneyland. I was thinking about flying out there on Friday and coming back on a Monday. Did you do the 5K race also?

My husband and I ran it this year and had a blast. I thought it was a very fun race and we enjoyed it very much. We lucked out and had perfect weather with cloud cover the whole run. For the size of the event, things seemed pretty darn organized to me. There were plenty of aid/water stations throughout the course, lots of entertainment along the way, and a whole lot of cheering. I thought the course was an easy one, I only remember two or three small hills. The only thing I was bummed about was the fact that they changed the course to run around Angels Stadium instead of through it like years past. That said, we will definitely be doing this race again. It was great to meet some of the WISHers during that weekend too. :goodvibes

I only did the DL Half.
I flew out on Thursday from Ft. Lauderdale around 5pm EST, 5 hour flight and arrived there at 7pm something. Spent time on Friday with family and zipping by the expo. Expot was pretty good, layout a bit strange and seemed kinda cramed into the DL Hotel Convention area. Friday night at the hotel and met up with fellow wishers Pat and Susie. We scream teamed in the morning Satuday for the 5K, went to the parks on Saturday. WISH meet Saturday evening and back to the hotel to chill. Sunday morning walked over to the start of the Half. Weather was great for the event. Better than the year before which had Heat warnings. It was overcast until about 9am and I had about 3 more miles to go. Water/powerade stations were great, cheering was good. Pretty much a flat course, so that was good. Got done and headed to meet up at the W tent. Then I had to get back to hotel, take ice bath, pack up and head out to sight see with my Aunt and cousin along the pacific coast. Then on a plane around 9pm and landed in Fort Lauderdale around 5am EST. Very tight weekend, but can be done and I was glad I did it.

Lan, I have to agree with Tracy that I like the WDW course better -- only because it feels like I'm in the parks more because at WDW you get to run on the roads a little then go in the parks a little -- instead of doing all the fun park stuff right up front. However, I will do this race anytime I can swing it financially. I LOVE Disneyland -- and that's quite a statement coming from a WDW fanatic.

I'd also encourage you to make time for the 5K at Disneyland, which includes both parks (like the half) and had a LOT of characters out this year. The coolest thing from my 9-yr-old's and my perspective is that you finish the 5K early enough to still get into the parks in the early hours when the lines are short. :rotfl:

Have fun with your decision. I think the primary deciding factor may be your attitude (unless you have ungodly hot temps like they did a couple of years ago -- UGH!). I have done a lot of different Disney races (including the Danskin Tri at WDW) and enjoyed them all, but I'm pretty easy to please. :)

Thanks for all of the responses. I have participated in at least 4 :cool1: Disney World races including the Expedition Everest Challenge 2008 (which was so fun).

I am close to making a decision with the answering moving towards doing it:banana: .

Where did you guys stay when doing this race?

Stayed at the Candy Cane Inn with Pat and Susie!! THey made sure we got rooms right next to each other. I believe Jeff and Marcia were over at the Del Sol Inn.

Thanks for all of the replies. I hope eveyone is having a good Sunday!!
