I have an ADR for 'Ohana, but I'm not sure withthe changes we will all be as happy with it as we were in the past--I love the rice, green beans and wontons, DD and DH loved the pineapple at the end. I'm all for changing and trying out new things but the negative revies recently have me wondering. Since I'm open to trying new things maybe I shuld try someplace entirely new? We've never eaten at: Kona for dinner
Maya Grill
The Grand Floridian Cafe
Nine Dragons
The Rose and Crown
Teppanyaki
Any thoughts or ideas?

Nine Dragons routinely gets bad reviews. Run-of-the-mill Chinese, no different from your neighborhood restaurant, at WDW prices.

I would suggest the Marrakesh at Morocco, for something more exotic -- and belly dancing!

Last time we went to Nine Dragons we said never again. The food was just ok and there are a ton of other places way better.

Teppanyaki is AWESOME!
Rose & Crown Is great!! Ate there for the first time last summer. We loved it so much we ate there twice.

I still plan on going to Ohanás though but I will definately miss the Shrimp skewers and Pineapple. I hope we like it.

I'm pretty sure that is why Nine Dragons was never on our must try list! We've enjoyed Marakesh and very much enjoyed it, except for DS then 12 and not sure where to look when the belly dancer was performing! :lmao:

I hear so many things about Kona, and will be trying it for the first time in May :) That is my vote :goodvibes

The Kona is fantastic--the best meal we had during our last eight day stay. Very good service, and delicious food. The atmosphere doesn't match Ohana, but the food is FAR superior!

My family really enjoyed Ohana's. We went the end of last August when some of the changes had already taken place. Rice, green beans and pineapple were gone (sorry to hear that the wontons, which we devoured, are gone), but we enjoyed the new potatoes, mixed veges and the bread pudding (delicious!). I would recommend it. You can't beat the atmosphere!

I can't speak for the restaurants you mentioned as I haven't eaten at those either...though I've heard great things about Kona, Rose and Crown and Teppanyaki on your list.

GO TO 'OHANA!!!! I actually enjoyed my meal SO MUCH MORE than before!!!!!!! You won't even notice the pineapples and caramel missing as the dessert. The banana bread pudding with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream is TO DIE FOR! (tastes like warm banana bread...YUM!!!!)

EVERYTHING else on the new menu is AWESOME!!!!! Wonton chips with dipping sauce...yummy lime vinagrette salad...veggies...OMG, THE POTATOES AU GRATIN!!!!, the CHICKEN WINGS that could have been my entire meal...THEN THE MEAT!!! It is TRULY a MUST DO FOR US NOW!!!!!! (it definitely WASN'T before!) I say GIVE IT ANOTHER CHANCE!!!!!! :sunny:

Some of the changes at 'Ohana are for the good, some are not. The potatoes and desert are way better. The shrimp is not. With all the pluses and minuses "Ohana is still a really good place to eat.
Note: a lot of the recent negative reviews of 'Ohana come from people who are upset with the changes but have not eaten there.....go figure.

As far as Kona goes...I have been reading some really nice things about this place recently and it is now a must on our next trip.

Thanks, I think I will keep the ADR for 'Ohana and if I get an extra opportunity perhaps I'll see if Kona isn't something we can add as well. I don't mind change if it is good, but I don't want to end up with an experience similiar to the one we had last July at the Garden Grill--after the change and before the change back. The experience was just so very bad there that I was shying away form 'Ohana in fear of a similiar not so great experience.
