think we'll get a table if we walk up to Rainforest at DTD 1-31?

Hi, we arrive on the 31st, plane lands at 3:30, renting a car, staying at POP. If things go smoothly, and there are no major hassles at the airport or checking in, I was thinking we might grab dinner at DTD that night. I feel like there are too many unknowns to make an ADR. Plus our son is only 2 so we'll see how the behavior is going first and foremost, it's a big day! If all is going well, I think we would all enjoy the Rainforest Cafe. Do you think we'd be able to get a table if we just walk up at I'm guessing 6:30-7? Do you think the wait would be really long? Granted my son would be just as happy to get some fries at McDonalds, since that's such a treat to him!

Let's see, Sunday night, downtown Disney, height of dining time - expect to have an hour to 1-1/2 hour wait if you show up without an ADR.

I have been there on a Sunday night, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and the wait was three hours. I sat at the bar.

If you cannot get in there, go over to T-Rex; also great for a kid that age, but you may have the same issue getting a table there as well.

Downtown Disney is frequented by the locals on the weekend, and parking is free, so it gets very crowded over the weekend; especially if the weather is nice. Add to the fact that OKW, SSR, POFQ, and POR can all get over there by water taxi.

thanks Missytara! I didn't even think about locals going there. We haven't been to Disney since before we had kids and we never tried walking up anywhere, just always made lots of ADR's. We'll probably give it a try as long as it's not too late, if we can't get in it's not the end of the world. I'm most looking forward to a treat from Ghirardelli after dinnner anyway!

Call the restaurant directly once you're settled. We were at AK on 1/4 w/no ADR for lunch. First I called the Disney Dining # and they told me Rainforest Cafe does not take same day ADR. After I hung up w/them, I dialed Rainforest Cafe directly and they made a 12:30 reservation for my party of 5. We got there and was seated, with no wait. My kids loved the atmosphere and the fries.
