Think like kids...best hotel?!

All,

My sister and I are planning a trip for her family + Hubby and I and we are rubbish at making decisions. Even the most simple like the hotel.

We are taking one 4 year old boy and one 9 year old girl (who's been before and we stayed in the santa fe to keep costs down).

The budget isn't such an issue, but we want it to be as fun as possible for the kids.

My feeling is my nephew would be in love with the Cheyenne and my niece, like every little princess (or is that madame?!) would love the Disneyland Hotel.

We have also considered the golden forest at sequoia but I'm worried this is least exciting in terms of theme for the kids but I've never been in. Also wondered if seeing characters every morning would take away some of the excitement from character dinners or a one off breakfast with them...anyone any experience of this?!

so...hotel which is most fun from a kids point of view...what do you think?! :confused3

I think the Cheyenne if staying onsite, my 8 year old daughter would choose this over the Disney Hotel.

However, staying offsite we would choose Magic Circus as we have found the theme excellent and the kids loved the pool, indoor ball area and all the games in the lobby. They also loved their own tv and curtain around their bunks. They have both asked me over and over if we can go back there. They are 3 and 8.

The Explorers had a nice pool too but other than the pool it wasn't a pleasant stay.

i'm not going to go there with which hotel is best for kids - because they all are :).

but if the kids like characters, they can't get enough of them - between the ages of 5 and 9, my DD's main purpose in life at DLP was to meet as many characters as possible each trip, in as many places as possible in the resort - we used to go visit other hotels in the mornings, do character meals, and as many random meets as we possibly could, every single day :goodvibes.

eta - if you're planning your trip after november this year, the characters won't be in the hotels for meet n greets anyway, they are being withdrawn and put in the park for EMH instead.

Yeah, it's precisely because of the character withdrawal thing that I am keen to get a well themed fun hotel for the kids. Also part of the reason why thought about sequoia because...as far as I'm aware...there has been no confirmation of the removal of the character breakfast?!

theres conflicting reports about that.

Sorry to say that Disney have confirmed. No more characters from 13 November with castle club being the only exception :( takes the shine of golden forest a bit :(

We're about to go on our 3rd visit to DLP. Our boys were 2 & 3 on our first visit, 7 & 8 on our second visit and they absolutely adore SL, they won't entertain staying any of the other hotels! I think it appeals to them as it's quite 'outdoorsy'.
This time we're staying in golden forest mainly because of the character breakfast but I would happily just have a Montana room after the characters are gone.
Hope that helps in some way x
