Just a week until we fly and things aren't going well.

DH still hasn't found a job which means we have very little spending money as I need to keep the money for our spends at home to pay the bills when we get back. It's so frustrating especially with the $ rate being quite good now. He's awaiting the result of one more interview and if that doesn't happen then it looks as though it will become a trip on a budget rather than the luxury break we had initially planned.

DS had tonsillitis but has now recovered but now DD has it (or something similar) and yesterday DS got up and could hardly walk. Looks like he's pulled a muscle or something. This morning it's even worse and he can't even limp. Back to the dr's for us to see if there's anything they can suggest. He's not the most acive of boys and I can't think of anything he's done and nor can he (he's only 7). Can antibiotics cause problems with muscles? The only other thing is that a week ago we bought him some Fitflop sandals but surely they wouldn't cause that amount of pain?

Great holiday we're going to have - no money, DD with some kind of infection and DS not able to walk!

All I need now is a flippin' big hurricane - did someone mention TS Emily :rotfl: (have to laugh or I'll cry)

 Oh hun, you are having a hard time at the moment

:wizard::wizard: Sending you lots of pixie dust that your DH finds a job very soon, and that your kids are both well for their holiday, good luck at the doctors, let us know how you get on :wizard::wizard:

 Whether your holiday is on a budget or not, you will still have a fabulous time ::yes::

Oh no sounds an awful time for you and your family. Hopefully you get some good news soon on the job front and everyone can go on holiday feeling better. pixiedust:pixiedust:

Oh no, you poor thing. I hope things improve for you soon.

:hug:hugs for you and :wizard::wizard::wizard:that things get better for you all x

Hi Louise

Think positive a holiday on a budget is still a holiday.:)
I really hope things improve for you before you go but if not go with a positive frame of mind and you will still have a great time.
Don't let it spoil your holiday. :wizard:

I hope everything turns out OK for you. Holidays on a budget can be just as memorable as luxury breaks. I'd rather be budgeting in Florida than here!;)

Hi Louise

I agree with Tony, think positive!!! :goodvibes

I am sure you will have an amazing time even if you do have to do things on a budget. I am sure some Florida sun & ice cream with help your DD feel better & if if no improvement for your DS then you could always hire a wheelchair for him if he is struggling to walk around the parks.

Good luck to your DH with his interview. :wizard:

You will have a great time, relax & think positive. :goodvibes

Hope everything goes right for you all:hug: I doubt the antibiotics can cause problems with muscles.

before we went to WDW in Feb we had a series of unfortunate events similar to yours and I would have happily not gone on holiday, stayed at home and felt miserable!! however needless to say we had a super trip, maybe not in the same way I would have but fab none the less...I am sure you will too. :goodvibes

Budget or not I am sure you will have a fantastic time - in fact I have often found that the holidays were we have had little expectation have turned out to be the best ones.
I find it really difficult sometimes to see someone who has done everything right, saved hard and then - through no fault of their own - finds life throwing them a curve ball or two. While all the time there are people out there who are constantly taking what they are not entitled to, living off my hard earned taxes and enjoying the life of riley as a result.
I hope your kids get well really soon and I have my fingers well and truly crossed for your DHs interview.

Keeping my fingers and toes crossed everything turns around.

I always feel anxious just before a holiday worrying about kids health etc as there is so much pressure for everything to be just perfect for those 2 weeks of the year!

Last year there was a girl on our flight over to Florida who had tonsillitus and she was up to the hilt on Calpol and Nuerofen - I know as I gave her Mum some of mine! :goodvibes Apart from the odd tear as they wore off she slept most of the flight

We bumped into them 2 days later in Crystal Palace and she was bright as a bobbin and having a great time!

I hope they can sort out your sons problem soon  A week is a long time for kids health to be restored so fingers crossed they're getting everything out of the way now before they go :goodvibes

Best of luck to your DH with the results of the 2nd interview - that would be the icing on the cake, however, Floirida on a budget still sounds good to me. To be honest I'm from Yorkshire and I just can't seem to go with the idea of spending lots of money so my holidays are always on a budget and I don't feel we miss out. :confused3 Maybe when the girls are teenagers............;)

I know what your going through, my DH found a job the day before we went on holiday, the relief was huge. I'll keep everything crossed for your DH. Could you DS have done something in his sleep to his leg? Hoping all goes well at the doctors xx

Thinking of you all and sending you lot's of pixie dust:goodvibes
I would tell your doc that your flying out next week and hopefully he will be able to give your little one something to kick whatever she has in touch.
Hope your little boy is ok as well footware can cause pain as my hubbie found out he must be the ony person that really can't wear flip flops !!
Anyway good luck to your hubbie on the job front and just go and enjoy that holiday you deserve it

Our last trip to Florida was very much on a budget and It didnt stop us having fun at all! In fact the kids were brilliant with not having every nick nack they set their eyes on!
Eating in teh villa turned out to be a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of the parks too - Try to stay positive!!

Hope the Dr puts your mind at rest and that both children are fighting fit by this time next week!

Lots of Postive thoughts and Pixie dust that the next week sees an amazing turn around

Louise xxx

Sending you lots of pixie dust, hope you have the most magical time and your dh gets a job soon.
Take care and have fun:hug:

Agree with Verity! Our last trip I had my spending money stolen, credit card fraud, son with chicken pox, all sorts so was feeling the same, didn't even want to go any more, but everything worked out ok. Not as much spends as I'd hoped as it was taken but we still had an amazing time!
