Yep, brace yourself for the worst pictures you will ever see of Jiko. The food was fabulous, the waitress was interesting, and the pictures are horrendous!
Jiko was a last minute decision of mine and our only Signature restaurant. I made the ADR about 10 minutes after we had out Pop 'lunch'. Can you belive I was still thinking of food??? The boys took a nap and I made ADR's and came on DIS for suggestions.
We arrived at 9:30 for our 9:40 ADR. We were seated right away once again. The restaurant was pretty empty but it was pretty late and this time of year things were pretty quiet anyway. It was nice though.
I was stoked to see the vegan menu which I did not photograph due to forgetting my camera once more. I did at the last minute to use my cell phone to take pictures. So did I warn you about the pictures?
They brought us 2 baskets of
bread, one vegan, one not. One with butter, and mine with oil. They looked pretty much the same, mine was a bit darker in color. The bread was actually pretty good, soft but with a bit of spice on the top. Delish!
I started with the
olive hummus flatbread, which you can probably tell was pretty good from the one measly piece remaining for a photo.
Dave started with a
Soup. He doesn't remember what kind it was though. He said it was good but he didn't finish it. This could've been because it was not great or because he was crumbling under the DxDP pressure. i never got to verify.
David got some
fruit that he did not touch nor did I photograph.
Our entrees arrived slowly. You know it was really busy in there LOL! But it didn't matter much to us because we were enjoying relaxing in the dim lights. I was so pleased with the vegan menu that I did not order off of it!

The waitress said that the chef makes a fabulous
vegetable curry with rice that is also vegan so I figured what the heck and gave it a try. It was good, but the seasoning didn't seem balanced to me, a bit spicy but not much flavor. But it was decent.
Dave had (what else?) a steak. The
Filet with Mac. This got really high marks. He said it was one of the best he had.
David had the
PB&J with fruit. He ate most of the sandwich and none of the fruit once again. He liked the PB&J a lot but its not very easy to mess up.
For dessert I had the
Blueberry Sorbet with pomegranite molasses. I had high hopes for this but it was WAY too sweet. I only ate a bite or two and the peach slices that it was served with.
Dave had the
cheesecake which he said was 'real good'. It must have been for him to say that because he's usually not much of a cheesecake eater.
David had
vanilla ice cream with mickey sprinkles. This was pretty basic so I didn't take a picture but David loves some mickey sprinkles!
We liked Jiko. Would we go back? Yes, but it will probably not be on our next trip. We really liked Sanaa and I actually preferred it to Jiko, but everyones different.
