Think i'll stay in the Room 4 a WHILE! 2 Full 4 Fun Vegan/Omni Review COMPLETED 10/3

I thought the dressing for Ohana has Honey in it which I know to some isn't Vegan.

Wow, I'm pretty disappointed in Ohana! Even when I didn't have Chef TJ, I was still able to get a fantastic entree and even a beautiful dessert. Oh well, like you said, at least they fed you!!
Yeah, I was hoping for Chef TJ since I made my ADR before he moved restaurants! Oh well, we had a fantastic trip!

Wow that is really awful about your room! That is so scary!
It was pretty scary. I've never had anything like that happen at a hotel before.

We're leaving a day early now(TOMORROW!) and something tells me that if I go with my original plan of eating at Kona for dinner tomorrow night, and trying the Kouzinna breakfast on Wednesday Morning, I won't be disappointed! :-) Thanks for the reviews!!!:flower3:

Also if I may ask- Did that total $$$ from Ohana include the drinks?

Kona and Kouzzina were my 2 favorites!!! That's why we went back a few times. Stick to that plan...it is a good one. Chef Johnny at Kona is wonderful! I don't know if you're vegan but I'll give you a tip since you are leaving before my review. He made me vegan Chocolate Fondue for dessert! It was amazing especially with the banana's! Chef Marilyn at Kouzzina was great too! The 2nd breakfast we didn't have her but it was still great. That sweet potato hash is to die for, vegan or otherwise! The total included drinks but they were all virgin drinks.

I thought the dressing for Ohana has Honey in it which I know to some isn't Vegan.
He made a separate one but we both shared the salad. The dressing was a bit tart but I bet thats because it didn't have the honey.

Great reviews - won't comment on the pics as you have explained them;). Glad your family liked ohana. We are trying it for the 1st time next month. looking forward to the rest especially beaches and cream and cp for b'fast. we are going to cm this trip for b'fast but think i want to try cp next trip (we are eating there for dinner but haven't tried b'fast yet)

oh - scary re: the key situation!

Theres so much to say about Kouzzina that I don't know where to start. I like it so much that we went 3 times! There breakfast is amazing and even walking up to Kouzzina is fun and picturesque. We had a 9:30 ADR and arrived at 9:10. We were seated right away. Oh, and I had a camera this time! ;)

Beautiful Boardwalk area. I have so many pictures from here. Probably because we went so many times!
disneyworld151.jpg

David enjoying the sights.
disneyworld148.jpg

A few pictures of Kouzzina to make up for my previous lack of pictures.:rotfl:
disneyworld147.jpg

disneyworld152.jpg

David patiently awaiting his meal.
disneyworld155.jpg

I'll start with my breakfast which was great. First I met Chef Marilyn. She was very nice and super open to making anything for me! She went next door to the bakery to make these delicious Blueberry Orange Granola Pankcakes. Now I ate every last bite of these. I can't even remember the last time that I had pankcakes in a restaurant. They were superb!
disneyworld158.jpg

On the side I had the sweet potato hash which is the best side dish ever. I could definately had made a meal of this alone. DH and I are planning a trip to Kouzzina just for the hash, so you must try it. The flavors are perfection. Kouzzina doesn't mess around with breakfast so I was intrigued to try their dinner!
disneyworld159.jpg

Now DH had the American, like eveyone who goes to a greek restaurant should! LOL! Did I mention he's a weirdo? He gave his usual one word answer 'Awesome', which typically means it is extremely good. And he shared my sweet potato hash, even though I wanted to keep it all to myself.
disneyworld157.jpg

David had his first official experience with Mickey Waffles!!! :wizard: He was in awe and demanded more later this trip.
disneyworld156.jpg

We all loved Kouzzina!

GREAT reviews so far! I can't wait to read the rest. I really want to try Kouzzina but I can't figure out how to fit it into my upcoming trip. I might have to go back and see what I can rearrange.

Let me just tell you that all we did after breakfast was go play miniature golf then go right to lunch. We are such pigs! I cannot believe how much we ate but our next stop was Beaches and Cream!

Here is David trying to work up an appetite after a big breakfast.
disneyworld169.jpg

So we arrived at Beaches and Cream. I love themed restaurants. It was very cute and smaller than I had expected. We were seated at 11:30 and there was really no one there.

Appetizers were definately not on our minds so I ordered the Vegetable Wrap without pesto and french fries. They went next door to make it fresh but I believe they forgot the hummus. It was good, I think it would've been better with the hummus. The flavors were good and I only ate about 1/4 of it because I was so full from breakfast.
disneyworld195.jpg

disneyworld194.jpg

Dave went with the Cheeseburger and onion rings. The one word answer of the day was 'good'.
disneyworld193.jpg

David skipped right to dessert! He had the Chocolate Brownie Ala Mode. The only word I could get out of him was 'yum'. He was very focused on the prize. (The whipped cream fell off the top right before I snapped the picture)
disneyworld190.jpg

This one got a high five!
disneyworld192.jpg

disneyworld191.jpg

Final reaction, chocolate face and all...
disneyworld197.jpg

I had a Tofutti Chocolate Shake. I wanted the banana split but wouldn't have been able to eat it. The spinkles were vegan sprinkles that I brought with me. Yes, I carried spinkles around with me!
disneyworld199.jpg

Dave also went with a shake. A vanilla shake. Topped with whipped cream, sprinkles and a cherry. He didn't have to bring his own toppings. He couldn't wait to try it so theres a bit missing
disneyworld198.jpg

Overall it was cute and tasty, who doesn't like burgers and ice cream on a hot florida day. I think it would have been better had we not had breakfast 2 hours ago.

GREAT reviews so far! I can't wait to read the rest. I really want to try Kouzzina but I can't figure out how to fit it into my upcoming trip. I might have to go back and see what I can rearrange.

Thanks! Kouzzina is definately worth it. I found the food there to be the highest quality and the best prepared, probably of all of the restaurants that we tried. They also seemed very consistent. The hash was just as good the second time as the first and everything was well seasoned and delicious. Have fun on your trip!!!

Dinner time already?! Yes we did eat again, and a lot! This time at Sanaa. Our ADR was at 7:15 but we arrived early at 6:30 and were seated at 6:40. Can you believe we were already ready to eat again? I can't either. Sanaa offered a ton of vegan options for me, they even have a separate vegan menu! The giraffe were right by the window so I snapped this pic. No, they were not out appetizers (I'm vegan, remember?)!
disneyworld237.jpg

Now you may also notice a Pina CoLava lurking in the backround of these pictures. This was one of the restaurants that told me that I couldn't have one. Dave ordered one and I was extremely jealous. I did try 3 different types of colada's when I got home and i'm happy to report that I have since mastered the exact taste of the Pina CoLava served at Disney! If you'd like the recipe let me know. It is actually pretty simple! And trust me when I say it is EXACT! Vegan too!!! :worship:

I started with the bread service appetizer that I cannot seem to find the pictures. It was 3 different spreads, a black olive hummus, a cilantro chutney and a red chile chutney. MMMmmmm MMMMmmmm it was so good! The red chile was a little too spicy for my liking but it was still good. I liked the cilantro chutney way more than I expected to, I liked it more than the hummus and I LOVE hummus . I highly recommend it!

Dave started with the Potato and Pea Samosa's per my request (also no pics, but I definately did take them:confused3). These were also delicious and perfectly seasoned filling.

My entree was the vegetarian sampler. The Chef made me a green curry vegetables that is not on the regular menu. It was F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C! It was the best green curry that i've ever had. The rice basmati was good and so was the cauliflour. I'm not a huge fan of any type of tomato based sauces, so of everything that I had (and I had a lot) the cauliflour was my least favorite.
disneyworld234.jpg

Here is Dave's entree. As usual, the boys dug in as I was getting my camera ready. I think DH ordered steak at every restaurant that we went to. He liked this NY Strip alot.
disneyworld232.jpg

David opted for the cheeseburger and potato's. He ate a bunch of this and said it was really good. I was happy he liked the potatos because we had to talk him into trying one since they weren't actual french fries.
disneyworld233.jpg

David had the chocolate cake for dessert. He ate it all but insisted on eating his chocolate Mickey first.
disneyworld239.jpg

Dave also had the chocolate cake for dessert, which is pretty much the same as David's cake but a little fancier presentation. He ate all of it and said it was great.
disneyworld240.jpg

Finally we have my dessert. It was mango sorbet with lots of berries! The flavor was really good and fresh. It was the only dessert option for me but I really enjoyed it and it wasn't too heavy. I was kinda missing my chocolate fix at this point though!
disneyworld241.jpg

Overall we gave Sanaa high ratings. The food was great and it was cool that the animals were right there!

Went to Sanaa last year as a vegetarian and loved the food. Looks like I can still have almost everything I ate last time! Your sorbet with the berries looks awesome!

A little OT (or maybe not since you were at AK and were talking about chocolate): Have you ever had Endangered Species chocolate? A few varieties are vegan and the dark chocolate raspberry is DELICIOUS!

I have had the endangered species chocolate. I had the choc/rasp since that is like my favorite flavor combination ever. It is awesome! I also like the Green and Black 70% Dark Chocolate Bars. Totally different in flavor than ES but great too!

It's finally here! Our Magic Kingdom day! If you haven't already noticed, when we go on vacation we like to take a couple of relaxing days with no parks. We like to take a few pool, mini golf, and nap days haha.

With all of the time that I spent on DIS, I found that the best time for Crystal Palace is breakfast before the park is officially open. This was great advice, as you will see in this picture! There was literally almost no one in the park. The only person in the picture was the photopass photographer in the backround.
disneyworld248.jpg

Our ADR was for 8:20. We arrived pretty much exactly at that time. I don't think we quite anticipated how long it would take to park, get on the monorail and actually get to the park because we usually get everywhere early. We were given a pager upon arrival and were seated at about 8:25. Here are some pics I got in the meantime.

disneyworld252.jpg

When we were seated our table had this cute little decoration on it for our anniversary. I love some Mickey confetti! We also got a card signed by Pooh and his crew, but they handed it to us right before we left so I didn't snap a pic, but David loved it!
disneyworld253.jpg

So the Chef came to the table, this is where things got awkward. He began to show me aroung the buffet. I'm not really sure why he did because basically he told me that I couldn't eat ANYTHING with the exception of the plain fruit on the buffet. I was ready for some smart remark, but I contained myself and asked if there was anyway he could make me some waffles. He said yes. He came back with the waffles. Now they didn't look this pretty when they arrived but I dressed them up a bit for their 15 minutes of fame. I added the fruit and there is a 'coconut whipped cream' which the Chef insisted was just coconut. I asked him about 27 times just to verify. They tasted ok, nothing too special but I was hungry (or maybe I actually wasn't, I was already to the point of not being able to tell)!
disneyworld255.jpg

David had the Sausage and the Puffed French Toast. He was extremely happy with this and turned down anything else we offered him, except for his soymilk of course.
disneyworld257.jpg

Dave had a plateful of meat. I swear he had, bacon, sausage, bacon, ham, bacon, eggs, and some bacon. I didn't get a picture because Pooh came right as he sat down. But to give you a visual he had what looked like just a huge plate of bacon! :rotfl:

David didn't care for Eeyore and Piglet, but he was happy when he saw Tigger and Pooh.
disneyworld265.jpg

disneyworld260.jpg

So we had a nice first meal in Magic Kingdom. Would we go for breakfast again? I'm not 100% sure. If we weren't on the dining plan, probably not. I heard they have more vegan dinner options though. The characters were fun but not a lot of options for me. We are going to try Chef Mickeys next time since it is on the way to MK.

disneyworld317.jpg

The park was nice and quiet the whole day. We pretty much just walked on every ride with no wait at all. I think we were there within the first or second week of school started so that may have something to do with it not being very busy. It was perfect and I plan to do the same thing next year. We also had a milestone this trip. David was exactly 40'' and able to ride most of the rides including Splash Mountain and Thunder Moutain. He is a very big and brave 3 year old and had a fantastic time at MK!

Next up Columbia Harbor House...

I really would have thought they'd have had more to offer you. (it doesn't sound like the chef there knew what you "could and couldn't" have) that's disappointing. It looks like you had a great time though. The pics are awesome !! :goodvibes I'm so hooked !!!!

I wasn't too disappointed being that I had probably gained 5lbs by then. I was full the entire trip, so I was happy with my waffles. I have a feeling he didn't know for sure because I saw some oatmeal and other things on the buffet that looked safe. Glad you're enjoying my reviews!

Initially we were going to try the Main St. Bakery for lunch. I decided that I was in the mood for hummus and I was thinking Columbia Harbor House. We arrived around 11:30. There was really no line.

The Lighthouse Sandwich is never disappointing and very consistent. I would know, i've had it 4 times. I had it sans slaw since the slaw has dairy and had chips on the side which Dave ate. I also opted for no dessert. The sandwich was great, as always. Perfectly crunchy bread and crisp tomatoes. I didn't get the vegetarian chili this time because I wasn't that hungry but I highly recommend it.
disneyworld328.jpg

Dave had the Chicken BLT Salad (I knew the Deluxe Dining Plan was getting to him when he ordered a salad). He said it was really good. This was the first time i've ever witnessed Dave eat a salad, and we've been together for 5 years! :rotfl:
disneyworld327.jpg

David ordered the PB&J. It was an uncrustable so I didn't bother to take a pic. He likes uncrustables but it seemed a little stale and he didn't eat that much of it.

Dave also got a strawberry yogurt for dessert which was a regular yogurt that you get at a grocery store, so no picture there but you can see it lurking in the backround of the Sanwich pic.

I really like Columbia Harbor House for their vegan options but I guess the rest of their food is pretty average. I would probably go back again unless I find somethiing specific in the MK that I want to eat. I'd like to try a table service lunch next time...maybe even give Crystal Palace a second chance, who knows?

Later in the day we stopped for some snacks before leaving MK. I spotted the Sunshine Tree Terrace in Adventureland and wanted to try the Orange Slush. It was really good. It tastes just like regular orange juice only frozen and slushy. If you like real OJ you'll love it. I don't like pulp in my OJ and it didn't seem pulpy like a lot of the juice served in Disney.
disneyworld342.jpg

David had a Chocolate Chip Cookie. It looked a bit dry but David loves cookies and didn't even seem to notice.

Up next Kona Cafe...

What can I say about Kona??? I found my favorite dinner spot, I know that! This was my favorite Disney meal and I believe the feeling was mutual amongst my family. We did go back to Kona a second night on Friday, and we made it our last official Disney meal. Our ADR was for 7:35 but we arrived more than an hour early. We were seated right away at 6:30.

First came the bread. Chef Johnny said that it was ok to eat without the butter. I guess there was a pan spray that is used that is 'iffy' as he said. I ate it but kept away from the crust just incase. Now I heard over and over how this is the best bread around. I had high expectations. It wasn't anything special. I thought it was going to be a sweet bread like hawaiian bread but it really wasn't. Dave agreed with me but David loved it! He can make a meal out of bread alone though. I think he ate most of it!
disneyworld347.jpg

disneyworld348.jpg

Dave and I love Sushi, me vegetable sushi of course. I started with the Cucumber Roll which I added Avocado to. It was fresh and delicious! Perfect!
disneyworld351.jpg

Dave had the California roll which he gave an 'awesome'!
disneyworld350.jpg

Bring on the entree's...

I had the Pan Asian Noodles with Tofu! This was fantastic! Everything about it was great. The broth was perfect, I couldn't have asked for a better entree.
disneyworld352.jpg

Dave went with the Ginger Crusted Ribeye. This came with mashed potatoes and broccolini. He didn't talk much this meal, thats how you know it was really good! But I did get a 'Wow' in there somewhere.
disneyworld353.jpg

David ordered off the menu, lol! He really liked the sticky wings from next dooor at Ohana, so I asked if there was any way he could get them for his entree. They brought him 4 sticky wings and fries. He was in all of his sticky wing glory!
disneyworld349.jpg

I asked the waiter what I could have for dessert. I was praying he would say that they could make the Chocolate Fondue vegan because thats what I had been hoping for over the last few months of trip planning. Now I didn't even ask specifically about the fondue. He came back and said 'The only thing they can make is the Fondue'. I tried not to look too over excited as I replied 'that'll be fine'! I was stoked! It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!! I was in fondue heaven! The banana's were my favorite. I wish I could've had 10 of them.
:love::love::love:
disneyworld355.jpg

Dave had the Lava Cake. He loved it. It looked pretty delicious too!

Loving your reviews so far. I would agree that Kouzzina is excellent. I went there for dinner not too long ago and it was the best meal we had on vacation!

Sorry for the delay in my review. I had surgery on thursday of last week. I am hoping to put another up today or tomorrow!

Kouzzina and Kona were my two faves! I know we will go back next year!!

So we decided to skip Breakfast because when we woke up this morning we know there was no possible way we were going to be able to eat. We went to the computer pool at Pop instead. We had a ton of fun despite feeling like whales.

After the pool we were off to Downtown Disney. We had made a Lunch ADR for Wolfgang Puck Cafe at 1:15. We arrived a bit early, around 12:00 and were the only people in the restaurant. We were seated right away. I was excited about this restaurant because of the options that I saw on the online menu.

disneyworld365.jpg

I immediately noticed that the Vegetable Spring rolls were not on the menu. I asked the waiter and he said they no longer offered them. He also told us that we could NOT have a sushi roll as an appetizer. I was extremely dissappointed! So needless to say, he had no appetizer to offer me except for a salad of basically lettuce and tomato (exciting, huh?). I let Dave order 2 appetizers instead, but I really feel like for the situation they should have let me order a vegetable sushi roll, how much could it possibly cost them?

I guess you could say that I was already unhappy with Wolfgang Puck Cafe before even trying their food but what can I say?

Dave ordered the Tortilla Soup and the Artichoke Dip. He said the soup was good and the dip was 'ok'.
disneyworld364.jpg

disneyworld367.jpg

David started with the Smiley Fries. They were cute but didn't have much flavor and he ate like one of them. He usually loves fries of any variety.
disneyworld368.jpg

For entree I had the veggie pizza with red sauce and no cheese. I was hoping this would cut my pizza craving once and for all. It did not satisfy. The sauce was a little cold, the veggies had no flavor, and the crust was thin and tasteless with no crunch or regular pizza flavor. It looked pretty but it was not good.
disneyworld370.jpg

Dave had the Angus Burger. He said he'd had a better angus burger from Burger King. There were also some people seated next to us and someone from their table ordered the Angus Burger and sent it back. They opted for nothing else (sorry, i'm nosey).
disneyworld371.jpg

David had the Mini Burgers that he took one bite out of and spit out. He didn't eat anymore of it. It came with fruit that he nibbled at.
disneyworld369.jpg

I asked about the dessert, again nothing. So I looked at the menu and kids menu. I noticed a Nota Colada on the kids menu. I asked about it, they said no. He said he would check on their regular pina colada. He came back with a virgin pina colada but it wasn't anything special. Not like the ones at the Disney Resorts!
disneyworld373.jpg

Dave opted for the Lava Cake which he said was 'pretty good'. It looked very nice on the plate.
disneyworld374.jpg

David had the Build your own Sundae. This had a cookie under the ice cream and David likes his cookies. He ate a good portion of this and then took the little cup of m&m's with him when we left.
disneyworld372.jpg

We weren't the biggest fans of Wolfgang Puck Cafe and will probably never go back. This was our worst meal of the trip however David did like the dessert.
