I'm less than pleased that our vacation is already over! :sad2:

So I thought that starting my review would cheer me up a bit!

I would first like to introduce us once again. I'm Jessica an avid Vegan that loves food. DH Dave is an Omni that loves red meat and Steaks (which you will see he had plenty of this trip). And finally DS3 David, who believes he is a superhero, is also an omni but is semi-lactose intolerant. He can have dairy if it is cooked in something but not on its own.
We were at Caribbean Beach on August 28th and at Pop Century from August 29th through September 3rd. Here are the restaurants where we actually ended up eating ....

Now if you happend to see my pre trip report you will notice that I skipped a few that I really wanted to go to like Boma, Sci-Fi, and Chef Mickeys. But we just changed things around as we went based on what we liked and what we were in the mood for.

Now you will notice that that the food pictures don't start out that great. This is my first food porn making experience and I think I forgot the camera the first 2 days, so I used my cell phone. Also we dug in a few times before pics as you will see especially the first day!!! So due to no pics i'll put the first review in this post.

Up first is....

Pizzeria Uno - No food porn here as I told you of the first days but the next review has phone pics.

Me - I was dying for PIZZA, vegan style of course. I was first told that the pizza dough was ok, but later told it has cheese baked in. So I didn't get my pizza but I decided on a Roasted Vegetable Wrap sans cheese with french fries. It was quite good for this type of restaurant but I thought overall it was just okay but maybe it was just because I was left still wanting pizza!
Rating - :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: 6/10

Dave - Dave ordered Pizza. I was extremely jealous at this point! He ordered the sausage pizza. He said it was "Fine". You will notice that Dave gives a lot of one word descriptions of things so I asked him for a rating on a scale of 1-10, thats how our rating system was born.
Rating - :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: 6/10

David - David started with the Mac n Cheese with bread (like pizza dough) and french fries. He ate like a horse! He loved everything but the bread which he spit out as he has no shame. He also had dessert which was the Mini Oreo Brownie Sundae, which he also devoured. David also gives the one word responses like "yum" and "good" but overall he really liked the food there. He also really loves the fake boxed style Mac N Cheese that they had here. He was pleased.
Rating - :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: 9/10

Total cost was about $45.00 (I can't seem to find the reciept for this one so I don't have the exact amount). I really do get better at this as I go along, I promise!:rotfl2:

I'm looking forward to your reviews as well! My husband and I will be at Disney World in October. I have been three times before, but this will be my first time as a vegan. We are eating at a lot of the same places that you did, so I can't wait to see what options you had!

Now I wanted to get on with the food part of this review but I couldn't leave out this major detail in our trip, our stay at Caribbean Beach. So allow me to tell you of our horrible experience at this 'resort'.

So here we are, the start of our flawlessly wonderful vacation, or so I thought!

This was an extra night that I added because of an appointment that we made that night in downtown Orlando. So I thought, should we stay offsite by own downtown location? The answer should have been yes because of what I'm about to tell you. But I decided, why not just drive to Disney and stay the extra night somewhere a little nicer right? OK! So It was settled, we would stay at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort.

Nicer? BOY was I WRONG!

We checked in pretty late, around 11:30pm. Not much time for things to go wrong, right? Wrong!

Check in went smoothly and we were off to our room. Everything looked nice from what I could see in the dark. All unpacked in our room and off to bed for the night. Morning comes, and I woke up early with excitement. "Hey guys let's go to the pool'! So we start getting out our swimsuits.

Now picture this (or maybe you shouldn't)... DH in the bathroom and me completely naked changing into my swimsuit (sorry to be so graphic), and a man WITH A KEY enters our room!!!!! No, Not the maid, A man who went to the wrong room and his key just happend to work on out door! I yelled for DH and the man quickly left the room. Whew! So I'm sure this man wasn't up to anything he probably just went to the wrong room as they all look the same but WHY does someone elses key work on my room?????
I felt really violated!

DH quickly called the front desk and told them what happend but was put on hold. No Response. Called again, same. Called again, same. What the H-E-Double Hockey Sticks is going on here?

I then said to DH, 'Screw it, let's just go to the pool'. DH replies, 'But all of our stuff is in the room and people can get in here with a key! 'It's fine, let's just go, it'll be fine'.

Ok, so it didn't end there. We exited to room headed towards the pool. We were about one stride away from the room, we forgot the towels. Turn around and put the key in, and it doesnt work! We are loked out of our own room! Our key doesn't work but someone elses does?!?! WTH!?!? Now our luggage is locked in OUR room at 9:00am. The maid was next door and we asked if she could let us in. She said NO. She did let us use the phone in the room she was cleaning to call the front desk. They then gave her permission to let us in. So we are in, still don't have a key to OUR room, and still want to go to the pool.

So we decided to pack up all of our stuff in the car then go to the pool.

Ok that was most of my rant. We did go to the Aruba sections pool, which to say the least was not very clean. The pool tiles were so dirty that people had CARVED their names into the dirt! Gross! Now I don't know how the pools are in the other sections because we didn't go to them, but I will say this one was NOT GOOD!

Disney, this resort is not up to par! I have a 3 y/o son, and everyday on tv you here about small children missing and getting taken, now some man is walking into my room with a key that works! Not acceptable!

Anyway, on to POP! Thanks god for POP! And on to our first Lunch ADR at the Grand Floridian Cafe!!!

Brace yourselves for my half eaten food porn! :lmao: The first day was the hardest, until I got into the groove!

Our first official Disney ADR was at the Grand Floridian Cafe. We arrived a little before our 12:30 ADR and were seated immediately. The chef came out and asked me about my allergies.

Here is me ready to eat!
disney.jpg

Now somehow I forgot to take pictures of our appetizers. I had the Strawberry Salad with no feta. It was pretty good, but I think would've been better paired with a slightly sweeter dressing.

My entree was The Orrecheita (sp?) Pasta. It was yummy because I love pasta even if there isn't much to it. It was very pretty and colorful which I loved. It was just a bit bland but with a little bit of salt and pepper it was just right.
dining1.jpg

Dave had started with the Sauteed Shrimp which he said was very good.

For his entree he had the NY Strip which I forgot to photograph but I got a pic of it a bit tustled! He said it was 'Awesome'!
dining4.jpg

David had the grilled chicken with french fries and broccoli. A bit cut up and eaten. He did enjoy this and loved the fries.
dining2.jpg

On to the dessert!

Lemon Sorbet for me! It was a little too tart for my liking and I do like tart. But it was nice to be able to have dessert at a restaurant.
dining5.jpg

Dave had the Chocolate Mouse, which almost didn't make it to the party (picture). He wiped it out really fast so it had to be good.
dining6.jpg

David went with the Worms in Dirt! He loves anything chocolate and ate everything but the worms! I personally like to skip the worms too though. Here is a pic of him enjoying it!
dining3.jpg

I found this to be a great start to our vacation. We really enjoyed our first Disney meal. The Grand Floridian is gorgeous! And if anyone has a pic of that cute little phone to the left of the entrance you can send it my way.

Wow! That's scary that someone else is walking into your room and it's not mousekeeping! Hope the rest of your trip went well. Looking forward to the rest of your reviews.

That's seriously messed up about CBR. The only thing I can think of is perhaps they made a mistake at the desk, and issued your room to a new guest checking-in, deactivating your keys, and activating his.

OMG ! I was horrified FOR you just reading about the man coming in your room! He obviously got way more than he bargained for !! :rotfl2:

I hope the rest of your trip was good.... I'm enjoying your reviews. Your son is a cutie pie !!! :goodvibes

 Yay for Vegan food reviews! Can't wait to read the rest of your reviews. Do you know if GFC had a lot of vegetarian/vegan options besides what you ordered?
By the way, too bad you didn't fit Boma in this time, its definitely up there for vegetarians and vegans...so is Tusker House and The couterservice at Morocco

I could not believe what happened to you and your family! What a way to start a vacation! I'm sorry that it happened and hope you enjoyed the rest of the trip.

My family and I will be staying at CBR in 3 weeks and I will keep my fingers crossed. We upgraded from Music Resort and hope we picked the right resort. For the last 2 years we have stayed at AKL and it has been wonderful. Decided to save the extra mula and spend at the park.... :cool1:

Can't wait for the rest of the review! popcorn::

I stayed there a few days ago and actually left before I had even spent one night. We moved to two different hotel rooms at CBR before heading to Boardwalk. I just couldn't stand the dirt, the lack of care, and the HUGE distance between our room and anywhere we tried to walk!

I'm glad it got a bit better for you, but why is this resort, a MODERATE, way worse than any of the value resorts?!

ANYWAY, can't wait for the rest of your reviews!!!

I had a ton of options. It was great. Some Chefs more accomodating than others though, but I expected that.

The rest of the trip was perfect in every way! I'm just glad we weren't staying the whole trip there!

That could be, I hope they don't make that mistake too often!

He sure did! Good thing he didn't get me on the last day of the dining plan!!! :lmao:

GFC didn't have a whole lot to offer, but I got the vibe that the Chef would have made something different had I wanted it.

Yeah, I guess from my experience I wasn't too thrilled but i've heard other good reviews about it. I was thrilled with Pop. Pop sweet Pop! :worship:

I don't get it! Why is that a moderate if they don't keep it as clean as the values? Pop was great! I forgot to mention that at CBR when we went to the pool there was a man 'cleaning up' the pool area with a leaf blower. He blew the leaves and dirt all over our stuff!!! :scared1:

Ohana is coming up next...

OMG! I would have been raising CAIN! MY DH would be raising CAIN! I know for a fact he would have NOT let me go to the pool until it was resolved.. WOW not acceptable at all!

I'm almost relieved that DH was in the bathroom! It wouldn't have been pretty of he wasn't!

So for those of you who have been to Ohana, you know that it is pretty dark in there. Well throw in forgetting my camera and you have the horrible cell phone pics your about to view!

Here we go...

This is the boys watching wishes from the window right near Ohana. Our ADR was for 8:55pm but it seemed that no one wanted to leave until wishes was over. We ended up being seated about 9:25. Not too bad.

Now we both started out with these puppies. The fantabulous Pina CoLava (Virgin). Let me just tell you that fantabulous is an understatement. Now here is the dilemma... Ohana told me this was ok to drink. Two of the other restaurants told me it did contain dairy. But they did mention coconut cream which I believe is just from coconut so maybe the word 'cream' scared them away because of my so called 'allergies'. Now as I remember, when Chef TJ was there he would serve things with the Pina Colada mix that was vegan so it is very possible that this one was, but who knows. I haven't had dairy in 3 years so I don't even remember what it tastes like to be honest.
08-29-10_2137.jpg

The salad was completely vegan, and we both liked it.
08-29-10_2138.jpg

This is my delicious appetizer. It was hummus and babaganoush (sp? I could look it up but i'm too lazy). They served it with those pita type crackers which were awesome because they were warm and crispy!
08-29-10_2140.jpg

DH started with Ohana's usual Sticky Wings and Pot Stickers. He said they were 'awesome'. David devoured the wings. He ate so many of them that I was in awe, afterall he is 3 and had a huge lunch earlier that day. I was then curious if he was going to eat the cheeseburger that he demanded.
08-29-10_2148.jpg

08-29-10_2149.jpg

Here was my entree. It was stir fried vegetables with Tofu and a sweet and sour sauce served over white rice. Now this wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The tofu was cold and didn't seem to be cooked at all. Now luckily I do like raw tofu so I ate all of it. The rice and the sauce was good. The stir fry had a LOT of celery in it. Now I am not a celery fan. I don't mind if there is a little but it seemed a bit out of place in this stir fry. But at least they fed me :).
08-29-10_2150.jpg

Davids cheeseburger and french fries that barely got touched because he only has eyes for the sticky wings!
08-29-10_2207.jpg

Don't freak out. I don't have pictures of the meat! All of that meat and no pics? Steak, Pork, Chicken, Shrimp and all great. Dave didn't like the fact that you had to peel the shrimp but besides that he said everything was great.

Bring on the desserts! OMG! No pictures of the Bread Pudding!!! What was I thinking. I guess my problem at first was taking pictures everyone elses food! Dave enjoyed it but he forgot to put the sauce on it. Which I demanded that he taste even after he already finished the bread pudding, to which he said 'Wow, It would've been a lot better with that'!

David had Ice Cream with his new favorite topping. Mickey Sprinkles!!! He asked several waitress' for these the rest of the trip. It was pretty basic, but It made him happy. He despised ice cream up until about 6 months ago. He had a thing with food being too hot or too cold.
08-29-10_2225.jpg

Mine was Drumroll please......
08-29-10_2226.jpg

A BORING bowl of Vanilla Rice Dream. The Chef did tell me he was going to bring me Divvies cookies which didn't arrive with the ice cream. I was dissappointed because I was hoping to at least make a Divvies and Rice Dream Cookie Sandwich but I didn't even bother to ask at this point. The candle was for our anniversary. I did appreciate the gesture but it wasn't the Chef TJ experience that I may never get to have :(.
