Found a 2008 Viking 2107ST at a dealer today. It was in perfect condition, has an awning, heater, and fridge. They are asking $4,700. Is that a good deal? Are Vikings good?

I don't know about Vikings, but it does sound like a good deal to me.

Does it come with a fish'n pole ?

A quick look at NADA shows 4700 as the average retail. So it looks like a reasonable deal to me.

If $4700 is the average retail, I wouldn't pay it. I'd offer $3800 or less and work up to $4000 max. Supply and demand at this point in the year is on your side. Camping season has ended (kids back in school ends camping season for most)... So there will be many campers coming onto the market. Some will sell much lower than retail. Not much demand right now. Be patient. On new campers, I've never paid retail... There's just no reason to... You can take 20% off the "retail" price without blinking an eye on a new one... I would never pay more than 30% off. On used, I'd say at a minimum, this time of year, 10-15% off retail is reasonable.

Viking is made by Forest River... Which is, in my opinion, a very reputable RV manufacturer. Higher end finishes than other manufacturers of a similar level/line of units. I've owned two Forest Rivers and have loved them both.

You can find more info here... Ask questions... The people on there are great. I've learned a ton from them.

They are really asking $4,995 but said it's "priced to sell" and would come down to $4,700. I offered them $4,200 and they accepted my offer. Now I'm thinking I should have went lower........

If there are no leaks... And you're happy with it, I wouldn't worry much over a few hundred bucks... I have friends who overspent by thousands.
I would definitely test it before exchanging money. A garden hose with sprayer for 20-min or so should give you an idea of leakage. Did you give a good look at the canvass? A canvass replacement (if needed) is pretty pricey. Not trying to scare you here... But some people really baby there campers (like us)... While some buy it, used for a few years with zero maintenance and then sell it when problems arise.

That's the thing....its in perfect condition as far as looks. Leaking I'm not sure of. The canvas is so nice and clean not a single tear or stain! I put a deposit on it and will go do a real serious inspection on Friday. I want them to close it up, open the awning, let me crank it, etc. I just hope it stays just as nice once I own it because I am going to have to store it outside all winter. :(

Can't agree more. You got it under retail and if it doesn't leak and it will serve your purpose then you got a deal for you.

Congrats! Sounds like a good deal for the condition.
