I just found out the DDP no longer has appetizers:worried:

So, at least at Boma you get really good food with a bunch of salads/appetizers to choose.

If I stick with Jiko....I get no salad or appetizer?????

That's correct. Unless you are on the Deluxe DDP, appetizers are not included. You won't be disappointed with Boma at all!!!

Personally, though, I don't see them as at all interchangeable. While Boma is good for what it is, it isn't just a less expensive version of Jiko. Jiko is among the very best dining experiences at WDW.

i wish i did boma over jiko. the food and wine we had at jiko was o-k but it wasn't worth the double table credit hit we each took for the signature experience.

Well. I am not going to be ordering and paying for salads/apps at Jiko.

I would order the Fillet of Beef.

So, Boma has a very nice prime rib station PLUS the benefit of numerous other dishes/salads/apps.

Hard to choose, PLUS, jiko is 2 credits.....Hmmm this requires contemplation.

My DW decided Boma over Jiko for our coming November trip. Haven't tried either, but figured with Boma we could try a lot of things.

We ate at Boma last trip (Oct 2007) and it was FANTASTIC!!!!!! By far the best meal we had at WDW.

I am cancelling my res at Jiko...and booked it at Boma instead!

I've done both a couple of times and you can't really compare the food quality. If you are interested in quantity and variety, then Boma fits the bill. We enjoy it but its not fair to compare it to Jiko.

Logistics:

I would order: Fillet of Beef with Mac and Cheese at Jiko. And a desert. This would cost me 2 TS credits per person

Boma: I will sample a few nice salads/appetizers, the FANTASTIC soups. Enjoy a delicious chunk of Prime Rib done perfectly, have some lamb, some chicken, have SEVERAL helpings of the "to die for" sweet potatoes. And top it off with a desert. This costs only 1 TS credits per person.

I am a want- to-be-chef, and I grill Fillet all the time....so the variety of GOOD food is the way I am going towards. And unless it is Kobi or Waygu beef....I've had it and done it.

As long as you're expectations for Boma are modest, I think you'll be okay. I think of it as an ethic Applebees in terms of quality.

Given that this is your approach to the meal, I think Boma is definitely the better place for you to go to.

I agree with Bicker and Pakey that Jiko is much the better restaurant. Unfortunate that the DDP has to enter into the decision--but I guess that's a fact of life these days at Disney.
As long as you're happy at a buffet, Boma should be fine!

We have been to both restaurants and like both of them very much. In addition to the difference in TS credits and inclusion of appetizers the atmosphere is very different in the two restaurants. Boma will be very busy with a lot of movement as people get up and down for their food. Jiko will be much quieter and more relaxed. We normally prefer a more relaxing dinner experience and don't do many buffets. Boma is the exception because of the excellent variety of foods and preparations. If you like appetizers and are interested in trying a variety of dishes Boma sounds like the best choice for you.

EVERYTIME WE GO TO DISNEY I HAVE ALWAYS BOOKED BOMA. THE FOOD IS EXCELLENT. SOME PEOPLE COMPLAIN THE LINE CAN GET LONG AT MEAT SECTION BUT I USUALLY GO TO OTHER STATIONS UNTIL THAT AREA IS LESS BUSY. I USUALLY GET MY SWEET POTATO I THINK THAT IS CALLED FUFU. YOU CANT JUST HAVE 1 DESSERT!!!!!!:rotfl2: THEY HAVE HOT RUM SAUCE THERE TO POUR OVER CERTAIN DESSERTS, ZEBRA DOMES WHICH ARE DIFFERENT CHOCOLATE BALLS. EVERYTHING IS BAKED FRESH RIGHT INFRONT OF YOU AT THE BACK OF THE KITCHEN. THE DRINKS ARE GOOD AT LEAST WHAT I HAVE:cool1: IM SURPRISED ITS ONLY 1 MEAL TICKET. WE DONT USE DINING PLAN WE USE TABLES OF WONDERLAND.

Jiko is amazing. Boma is a good buffet. No comparison.

What about trying saana? Sit down and 1ts and really good... I have eaten at boma and it was good...never tried Jiko

Boma is excellent. I can't speak for Jiko because I've never dined there, but I'nm sure it's excellent too. We're trying Sanaa for the first time this summer.

Go to Boma, wont regret it :) i love it!

Though the service can vary from either really good to being ignored :D

Something you never have to worry about at Jiko.

(But you do pay for it...)

(And dearly!)

I first eat with my eyes, so for me I like more Boma...Jiko: been there, done that.
:)
