Things you've learned on your trip to WDW...

I'm sort of thinking about this along the lines of the "Everything I needed to know I learned in kindergarten" lists...

Not so much facts one learns about elephants at AK, but more things that have been beneficial to you and your family...

Many of the things our family has gained from WDW, involve learning to act as a team. The better we act as a team, the more everyone gets to see and do. Each trip, we get better at it. We've learned to coordinate bathroom breaks. We're not obsessive about it, but the more we coordinate bathroom breaks, the less time we waste.

We also try not to duplicate things like suntan lotion. One person carries it for the group, and everyone shares -that way we aren't all carrying excess weight all day.

The basket in the bottom of the stroller is for everyone's use - mom gets priority, but any extra space is free game.

Everyone takes turns pushing the stroller; except the person who is in pain, unless they want to use it as a crutch. ;)

Have one person book everything, that way there are less mistakes, and changes can be more easily made.

What has your family learned?

I learned "there's no place like home ... there's no place like home ... there's no place like home ... "

I actually did learn to relax a little. I am an overplanner - but you can still be a few minutes late for your ressie and get in.

Don't bring fancy clothes ... everyone is dressed very casually (except maybe at the V&A).

Don't drag too many bottles of things like lotions, shampoo ... you never use half the stuff and then you have to sift thru them to find anything AND drag them home.

The strollers are AWFUL. I know I'll upset some by saying this but if you have a child that has to be pushed in a stroller ... do not come to disney. Wait until they are old enough and then come. The strollers are just in the way.

I learned that it is okay to let out the inner child.

I learned that CM's are the nicest people in the world (the real one)

I learned that stress, bills, work, rushing to get the kids to practice etc...all goes away for one whole week.....I further learned that is is the pixi-dust that does it. :cloud9: :cloud9:

Get there at the opening bell - every 5 minutes late costs you another 15 in waiting and not getting stuff done. I figure we're going to buy a few t-shirts while we're there so we don't pack any extras. If one gets messed up, it's a good time to buy one (see no added expense since we would have bought a couple anyway). This way they can wear it as soon as they get it.

The one thing I learned on our first trip that i will never forget:

If you see something you want to buy, do not tell yourself you'll come back later because you wont!!!! :goodvibes

<sigh> I never did get my Mickey egg mold/pancake mold.... :sad2:

I have nothing wrong with someone bringing their kids in a stroller. My big problem is Disney has designated areas to park them. Nobody uses them because they're too lazy to walk 15 or 20 steps to the designated areas. So they just leave em right in the way.
