What a happy looking group.....too much wine, I guess!
:lmao: You crack me up! Haven't considered the Brown Derby, as I had the chance to experience the real deal in LA some time ago....I guess I will put that on the todoo list....

Thanks Yak! Great fun. I love Fantasmic, too, btw! :thumbsup2

YAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loved this chapter. We ate at the BD a few years ago (OK, seven) and quite enjoyed it. My Dad was with us and picked up the tab :thumbsup2 but I do remember the famous Cobb Salad. Some of you will understand when I tell you my Sister and I shared one salad...

BTW, did I not share my mad skill of splitting meals? What? You and K wanted to use four credits at BD?? OK, fine! I understand, but next time, if you wanna share, just hang with me (#4), #1, and #7

This might be my favorite part!!!:
When we walked by the window of our little room on the way to Fantasmic, it was now empty, with major swiftering happening!
YAK!! You're a Fixer!!!

Up next: Yak at the Hippy Dippy. Can't wait.

Jami - :lmao: You are truly my spell-checking guru!

Last edited by jamal : Today at 10:48 AM. Reason: swifter=swiffer....................

This made me laugh, because as you also know, I'm a "skimmer" and I actually got up and looked at my swiffer box. I never knew! Dah=me!!! ;) :rotfl2:

Jami - you should be writing a TR! Your last one was great and you have many mad skillz to share!

Ash - I think my look in the picture was that they didn't bring any more wine....unlike the mad skillz of Sher and Kevin at CR. That will be explained later.

Horsey - I was pleasantly surprised with the BD......it was K that really wanted to go to BD - on the advise of M & J (who are the other two in the pic) They had been before and said it was excellent.

BG - Glad you're enjoying!

I'll get to the Hippy Dippy encounter later today....I hope!

A Very loud YAK sighting at the Hippy Dippy. What do you get when you combine the Hippy Dippy, Plutopants, Refillable-for-life mugs and mix in a few internet friends who haven’t met? A YAKfest!

Prior to the trip, most of us tried to learn the “real” names of our ICF (Imaginary Cyber Friends) who will be at Disney.

Most agreed that we should try to refer to each by our real names as we would probably be getting enough strange looks over the course of the trip as it was.

But one refused.

And this is how it went…..apologies to Mr. Silly and his sensitive ears.

K and I arrived back to POP and headed over to the much anticipated meeting of Maelstromers at the Hippy Dippy. We looked around and none were to be found. Little did I know they were all "whooping" it up at AKL!

We decided to check out the gift shop because they sell "take away" versions of what I like to call, "Mommy's little helper". Have a coke and a smile, remember!

We also went to refill our Life-mugs. We needed mix! :teeth:

Once outside we headed over to the Hippy Dippy Bar looking for people whom I’ve seen in pictures here at the DIS. I was trying to be inconspicuous as possible and located them without much fan fair.

HA!

As I’m walking down the few stairs from the food court, what do I hear…..

YAK

WHERE ARE YOU YAK?

YAK

I could just hear the phones ringing at the front desk......noise complaints by the hundreds!

I wanted to laugh and hide at the same time.

Time stood still. It was my first Maelstrom encounter with….Grammyof2 and Sheridac!!!! Skipping to me with arms wide open. (We were warned of this)

I got over my shyness for public displays of affection (I'm Canadian ;) ) real quick.

It was if we have known each other forever!

YAK, GRAMs, SHER jumping all around. I think K though we were a little nuts. Not to mention the other guests at the Hippy Dippy!

GRAM (as I called her) brought her wonderful husband, GRAMPS. And shortly after, Jamal and her friends S & M came by. Then our Grand Gatherer, HaleyB POPed by. (Where was Horsegirl?.......like good Marines, I think they left her behind!)

I was so honoured, as GRAM and GRAMPS came by special. For me. To yell out YAK. Apparently she had been yelling out my alias for the past few days. And for the past few months. And all over Niagara Falls, Canada last August!

This was when we learned of the not-so-Grand-Grand Gathering. And that G&G weren’t staying at the POP. Tonight. POP goes the weasel!

Sheridac brought little Plutopants, our mascot of sorts to the Hippy Dippy. It was so good to see him again, as he was with The YAK’s for two weeks in July.

Except the little partier was pilfering my Hippy Dippy Drink!

I'm sorry dear readers that I didn't take any other pictures that night. The night went by so quickly. We YAKed and YAKed and YAKed. Sher even YAKed on the phone to Tink and Sid, a couple of Vikings who couldn't be with us at Disney.

It was so nice to be sitting at the Hippy Dippy enjoying the evening with people I knew. I remember sitting at the pool watching the kids swim one evening in July thinking there are so many people here, but it is such an individual experience. I really enjoy the company of my family, but I'm a people person. I love to strike up conversations with strangers, but most often they are polite, but not very YAKky.

This meet was so wonderful because we came as individuals but could share our experiences as a group. It was very small-townish. We'd run into our new friends here and there, arranged or by chance. And that what was so magical about this trip.

Sharing it with friends.

Up next: Oh, YAK we're late for the Key’s to the Kingdom.

Hey, I'm the first today! :teeth:

It sounds so special. I'm jealous I missed out on such a fun filled gathering.

You all seem like a great bunch of people.

popcorn::

YAK!!!!!!!!!

You have said it SO well!
It was so nice to be sitting at the Hippy Dippy enjoying the evening with people I knew. I remember sitting at the pool watching the kids swim one evening in July thinking there are so many people here, but it is such an individual experience.

It DID make Disney feel like a town of sorts!

I really enjoy the company of my family, but I'm a people person. I love to strike up conversations with strangers, but most often they are polite, but not very YAKky.

BORG, my northern friend!! I love people. I love new people. Everyone on this planet has a path and a tale and if we are lucky, our circle grows wider every year.

Why do I remember so little about that night at the pool? I know I felt carpy and we weren't there long. That was it.

Keep it comin :yay: :yay:

YAK?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See. Now. What's really great about you guys being so, oh let's just say less chatty, than moi. Is this.

I get to pilfer all your material!!!!

Bwahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We love you!! We love K!!! We love the nightlife!! We love to boogie!!!!

I really am enjoying reading this. I see so many of you posting throughout a lot of the other threads and this is helping me understand so much of the things I didn't before. And probably so much more to come. Understand?

Anyways, it's great. Keep it going.

YAK!!!

That night did fly by, and a lot of what we talked about was who we had met already and such. Horsey and I had a mini-meet by the pool earlier that night. She just missed you guys, but she really needed some rest.

I saw Jami for just a second that night, she was on her way to bed too I think?

Grammy was hysterical. I remember going to the room (after the 100th time the kids asked to leave) and finding Steve and saying "Grammy is even more fun in person!!!"

Good times.

Subscribing! :thumbsup2

Will read when I can! I know I will enjoy it! :teeth:

The screaming of YAK was Moi  It is now an international symbol in my family that allows us to locate each other in any forum. I have yelled YAK in every possible location and the reply is always WHAT

The thing with ICF, is they aren't really imaginary. They are very much alive and enter your REAL life on alot of levels. Grampy amuses my obsessions. He knows all of you cause I have a tendency to YAK alot. After my 1st mini meet back in July, Gramp started paying close attention. He had met some of and knew I loved all my ICF. Then we went to Canada, which BTW is a big country, but I still was sure that if I yelled YAK every so, 30 minutes, that she would magically appear. :wizard:

Now the important part!!! YOU WERE EMBARRASSED :lmao: :lmao:
so sorry

And we were all so busy YAKing no one even thought about pics. And K must have thought I was a nut case :teeth: and I am pretty sure that opinion didn't change over the next few days.

Plus I bemeber Haley and her kids coming and I was thinking Haley could be one of my kids :rolleyes1 she looked so young :thumbsup2

After everyone left, Grampy and I sat by the pool every evening. And at some point, one of us would yell YAK

All Caught UP now!!! :cool1:

BORG, Gram! When I told Jay that Haley's 18 yr old son was coming later in the week, he was shocked! He said she didn't look old enough to have Max and Sophia, never mind an 18 year old!!

Horsey - Thanks for the bump!!

You put me into the coveted "1 2 3 4 5......last page"

And for you.....another chapter (without K's input!!!)

After a wonderful time meeting the first wave of Maelstromers at the Hippy Dippy we made our way back to our room with smiles on our faces. Knowing that we have just met some wonderful people! And had a few laughs. Actually a lot of laughs!

We prepared ourselves for the long trek back to Siberia with our refillable-for-life mugs.

To the 80's.

Yes, dear readers you are correct.

We were in the 80's!!!!

(Thanks Sher ;) )

You see, I'm a visual kind of person. I'll always remember you, but may not remember your name. I can give great directions but don't ask me to tell you the street name. I heard a lot of 70's disco music when walking to Siberia. Believe me I know my 70's music!
And CM Suzy told us we were in the "block in the 70's" not-so-grand gathering.

We were near the 70's.

I didn't think much about it. BUT in retro- Hippy Dippy-spect, K and I had a heck of a time finding our room the first go around. Let's just say I got my decades mixed up. I was a teenager and at University in the 70's/80's. It was a confusing time. And a fun time ;) Many brain cells were lost. And that experience has come back to haunt me. I guess. ;)

Anyway, during our very long trek through time, something came to me.

Here’s the thing about the POP hotel. It is really cool. All the recognizable icon’s of childhood. Larger than life. So, we had to take some newbie photo’s of K:

DisneyOct06018.jpg

DisneyOct06019-1.jpg

And a funny photo, especially to us computer nerds....

This even proves we were in the 80's. Sorry! ;) :lmao:

And even though we just met Sheridac, when I saw this I thought of her!

DisneyOct06016.jpg

One of my new favourite tunes!! I know she'd love to love the love you love!!! In 8-track! :lmao:

Before retiring for the evening, I programmed the phone for a wake-up call. I told K that when the phone rings, she MUST answer it.

I awoke the next morning bright and early and put on my sparkly shoes to go jogging…….NOT! Ooops wrong report :teeth:

The phone rang and I handed it to K. She smiled when she heard Mickey telling her to get up, but made one of these faces :scared: when she heard Stitch yell….”get up”

She said, "Who the “bleep” was that? Why the “bleep” is Disney putting that obnoxious voice on their wake up message?"

K is not a morning person.

Or very familiar with Stitch!

We got dressed quickly because even though I was not throwing Ziploc bags of clothes around the room to kids, I realized that if we don’t get going NOW we’ll be late getting to MK and “The Key’s to the Kingdom” tour.

We hopped in the YAK Express and "away we go……"

CR-YAK! We’re Late for a very important date. No time to watch Stacey, have breakfast or stop at the Hippy Dippy. Did you know when a CM say’s “Take the boat, it’ll be faster” You should listen! But noooooo! I read the DIS….I know better.

Murphy was looking out for us that day.

We pulled out of the POP following those purple signs to MK and took a wrong turn.
We were headed to the Animal Kingdom!

I really hate those purple signs. There, I said it. Something that really bugs me about Disney. I miss my turns all the time.

We whizzed through the MK gates…..no time for a picture and off to the parking lot.

Then, Mr. A. Murphy in the white van decided to block everyone to ask why he couldn’t park where he wanted to. Move it buddy, we’re late.
We squeezed ourselves on the full tram that was waiting. You know the types. “Oh excuse me, can we fit in right here, maybe you could put your 12 year old on your lap so I can sit” Only kidding. But we did find a couple of single spots. We were late.

Mr. B. Murphy, the tram driver decided that he needed to space out the arrivals to the TTC, so we sat and waited and waited and waited.

We practically ran through the TTC to be confronted with a choice. Should we take the Monorail, which by the way was sitting at the station, or the boat?

Mr. CM. Murphy started advising guests to take the boat because it’ll be much faster. Ya right buddy, you just want to balance out the flow of arrivals. You are denying my Newbie Friend the Monorail experience on her very first time to the MK!

So, we walked up the ramp to Monorail green. Bonus it just pulled in and the doors opened. We had about 10 minutes to spare. But, the doors never closed. For a long time. Then they did, but we didn’t move. For a real long time. 20 minutes to be exact. K started to freak. Lot’s of people in an enclosed space. And a crying child. Remember, she doesn’t do public transit well.

Way to go YAK, nice first MK impression!

I could hear Barrister Murphy laughing in the next car.

It’s his law you know. Murphy's Law "If anything can go wrong, it will".

If you are attempting to rush to get somewhere, especially Disney – Murphy’s Law will always apply.

This is why they tell you when you book something with “407-Disney” to leave ample time to get to you ADR.

Good advise.

If you are taking Disney transportation, or your own YAK Express.

Listen to the CM when they tell you which way will be faster. They work there. They know!

We missed park opening. A newbie must. We rushed to City Hall to check in for our “Key’s to the Kingdom” tour 10 minutes late.

There was no one around.

YAK – I blew it. On K’s first day at the Magic Kingdom.

Banish me to Universal…..now!

Up Next: Did we get the Key’s to the Kingdom??

Yak!!!

I would love to love the love you love!!!! 'Cause I know that you know that I know that you know I would NEVER fall off my platform shoes!!!!
