I know there are lists of what is suppossed to be in the DVC accomodations. Is there a list somewhere that tells what I should bring with me? This is our first trip "home" and I'm not sure what "extras" I need to pack that I wouldn't have to pack for a resort stay.

I know I need to bring soap and toiletries (gonna miss all those "free" Mickey soaps!) but what else? Do I need to bring a sponge for the kitchen? I think I need detergent for the washer, but what about soap for dishwasher? Paper towels?

Since Mom and Dad are driving down before us, I want to start getting stuff together. Let them bring as much stuff as possible down with them!
TIA!

All the stuff you mentioned in the letter is right there at the DVC unit. You will need laundry soap. We usually buy one of those small bottle of Wisk or whatever. Keep in mind you can buy anything you need right there. You will get soap every 4 days to wash with in the bathroom. They supply sponge and paper towels.

I also bring detergent (solid laundry tabs for me) and dryer sheets.
If you are talking about drinks/food, etc. I bring extra coffee (don't like the kind that Disney supplies, and they only give you enough for a day or two, anyway). Your packing list might also depend on how much cooking you want to do/not to do and what type of villa you're in. (Studios don't have the full kitchen, but there is a lot you can cook in them, never the less.)
Our packing list changes based on what type of villa and how much food we want to pre-pack or purchase at one of the local grocery stops.
If you're looking for ideas about that, too, just say so. I think that there are a lot of DIS members who do cook while at DVC - there are a lot of great ideas out there.

We have stayed at the villas a few times and here are a few of the things that we have added to our list as we have gone. We seem to add things as we are there and then I have a DVC packing list at home that we add them to when we return. Like the previous poster said, it depends on how much cooking you plan to do.

Here's the list:
salt/pepper
spices
ziploc bags
dish towels
gladware dishes
coffee filters/coffee
smaller plastic cups(for the kids)

Some of this stuff we needed for our trips to HH where we cook most of our own meals and are there for several days. When we go to Disney we don't typically cook as many meals in our villa because there are so many other things that we are doing.

Hope this helps! Have fun!!!

I also bring candles, matches, bath oil, bubble bath ---- a good book all for the whirlpool tub....

I like to go buy my groceries at a local store - then I also get some flowers or a live plant.....

Al has a tax on groceries - Fl does not - so something are cheaper for me.

I know you didn't ask for this, but just in case you'd like it anyway here's a link to the supplies in a 1BR:

By the way they DO supply the Mickey Soaps at DVC. They just don't replenish them daily (unless you are paying extra to have your room cleaned every day.)

Although paper towels are supplied they are not the really thick ones, so I bring those with me. Someone already mentioned plastic bags, I also bring aluminum foil.

I also recommend to buy bottled spring water. WDW water, is pretty blah IMO. And don't forget wine/beer if you like alcohol, the prices on site are ridiculous.

Have a super tiime! ::yes::

Okay, I feel a little silly responding to this, as I have not been "home" yet...but, one of the best ideas I had read was to got to the pharmacy and get the little "pill bags" sold there. They are like Ziploc snack bags except they are tall and skinny instead of wide and short. They say they are WONDERFUL for spices, and and individual scoops of powdered laundry detergent. I think 25 of them cost me $1.50.

I second what the OP said about the water at WDW. I always bring a Brita water pitcher so that I can have a large quantity of water available to make a pitcher of tea. Another thing that I bring is a small Tupperware container of sugar for coffee, and some packets of Equal for iced tea.

Clothespins! Invaluable to me anyway. =) I always keep some in the suitcases, at least 6. I use them for wet bathing suits on the line in the bathroom.

We bring round coffee filters. I bring a small pb & j. We buy bread and milk there.

Can you request a blender at no additional charge at all the dvc resorts?

:D

A fitted King sheet
Spray bottle of glass-plus type cleaner
Dishcloth
Pizzacutter

Bring your cell phone. Your cell plan probably has free long distance and you can make calls all day on it without extra charges. :teeth:

Disney pays Mickey's annual salary off of its telephone service charges! ::MickeyMo

We usually bring coffee, coffee filters, salt&pepper, sugar, laundry tabs(getting harder to find!), softener sheets. When we get to the room, we usually go to a local grocery(Publix is pretty close on SR912) and buy breakfast foods, bottled water, snacks, drinks, butter, half&half for coffee, tea bags.

One other thing I tend to get is a room deodorizer spray!

I found Purex laundry tabs at Walgreens, Quincy Mass. I guess you could look on-line to see where there are more stores or order from on-line if you can't find them locally.

I agree with the salt and pepper, coffee and round coffee filters and peanut butter. I'd add instant oatmeal, my own shampoo and conditioner, theirs is horrible, my own soap, theirs is ivory and I am allergic, if I am driving my own toilet paper and paper towels. I always bring a shower cap, and moisturizer and smelly stuff for my bath.. I also bring raisins, tea and hot chocolate mix in the winter. I also bring mustard if I remember but I take mayo, relish and ketchup from the snack bars on property or in the parks. I have started carrying Crystal Light Ice tea tubs to add to my water bottles and to Disney's free ice water cups. I ask for a large cup of ice water and then I add the crystal light to make a refreshing free drink. I also make ice tea in the villa to save on soda costs..

I get them from a catalogue/website. I'll send you a pm.
