Today we were leaving Linens and Things and suddenly DD#2 said "s*** my d***" (I am assuming you can fill in the blanks!!) I shrieked! She said "It's written over there, I'm just reading"--sure enough , someone had written it in the dirt on the window of a jeep. "What does that mean?" says DD#1, 10 1/2 but thankfully still pretty ignorant. "YOu don't want to know, it's nasty, don't ever say that again". I couldn't be mad at DD, but I wish people would think before they write "funny" things on their friends cars!!!
It's about the last thing I expected to hear from my kids today!

I'd be mad too. People show no respect sometimes.

Awww, that's embarrassing for your daughters. :( I hope the person driving the car didn't know the message was there. I hate to think that they knew it was there and left it there. Or worse yet, wrote it!

2 years ago my then 10- year old dd repeated some nasty grafitti she saw on the seat of the school bus -- similar to what you saw. I felt a bit awkward expalining it to her.

the other day she said things that made my mouth drop open, and then asked me if she wanted me to explain what she meant by "second base."

You know.... I couldn't wait for dd to start reading, but I'm finding out it also has it's disadvantages!!;) I'm not ready to start explaining things like that! Ugh!

 Yikes!!! I would hate to have that happen, I've had a few of those things happen, but I think with boys, they tend to know more than I do sometimes about all that slang! I'd hate to actually know all the junk they've heard from other kids!!! :o

Sometimes it's even the bumper stickers. Do those peple (some of them grown adults) really think they're funny?

Can't wait to see their kids!

BTW - I must be getting old - it took me 5 tries to come up with what was under those asterisks. I bet DD (10) could do it quicker than me - and that's NOT a brag - just a sad state on some people's sense of humor!

I Just can't wait until they're 13!

When we drove to Disney a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't believe the bumper sticker I saw.

It was ABCDEF*** (and yes the letters were there)

I wonder how many kids started reading it, thinking it was going to be the normal alphabet.

gross gross gross
just asked DS10.5 to look at that and he figured it out much too quickly for me - "said eww" before he told me what it meant

Took me a couple of times to get what the blanks were. I have always said I would be open minded in explaining. I usually get embarrassed AFTER the fact and my son goes into the other room. I think- og my. How did I get through that discussion? Luckily thus far I have not shown too much *shock* on my face when he asks a question.

I wouldn't dream of showing this thread to my 10 year old dd. bad enough when her older sister was 10 and I had to explain it.

IGTD, why in the world would you show that to your son? It was obvious from the OP that is wasn't appropriate for a child but you show it to him? That makes NO sense whatsoever!

Someone had to tell her what it meant. ;)

I understood that, but it was still obvious that it wasn't appropriate language for a child.

Too true, but apparently some of don't think so. Makes you wonder.

I wasnt going to tell him what it meant if he didnt know! I was hoping he didnt! This was a way for me to find out if he knew or not.

I think that this recent line of discussion is off the original topic and if you wish to continue it in PM or e-mail feel free, but it isn't necessary to do it on this thread.
Thanks
Cathy
