Thing about getting my ears peirced.

Well, places like Claire's in the mall do it. My niece had hers done a few
years ago, and they gave her a list of instructions and a bottle of solution
specifically designed to clean around the piercings to prevent infection.

Back in the day (well, when I was 8 years old), we only had rubbing alcohol,
not some fancy-schmancy stuff for that. ;)

Make sure it is a place that has a good reputation, Claires or other jewelry stores at malls usually are safe bets. I know back when I got mine done I was incredibly scared and to this day I do not like needles. To help me I think it was my mom who suggested having them do both ears at once. I was lucky to find a store that was able to do this and it worked well for me lol. Having them both done I wasn't able to back out after one :rotfl:

Anyway if you do decide to make sure to keep them well cleaned and follow the rules given like not changing the earrings for however long they say (think it was 6-8 weeks for me.) If your ears get swollen try to make the backs as loose as possible without them falling off also (I had some issues with that.)

Just remember no matter what don't let someone pressure you into doing it if you don't think you are ready for the responsibility of taking care of your ears. If you are that's great! Good Luck with your decision :)

FACES is a great place to do it, after that I would probably go to Claires.

Claires would be good. They have the little after-piercing kits you can get (or do you get it free? I don't remember) in a nice little box and stuff. :thumbsup2
only downside is it's usually by the front windows so people can watch you and your reaction.

Haha, know what's funny about claire's? It's free ear piercing but it's the earrings that cost $25-40

i suggest going there, they make sure your piercings are even (if you get them on both sides) and they ladies who work there are pretty nice

Carp that sounds like a lot
I hope mom and dad wont make Me buy them

I would tell you where I got mine done but I do not remember because I was two.I think some place in the mall.

I got mine done at Claires. They have a nice little booth right in front of the window. You even get to squeeze a teddy bear! :lmao: Well I'm sure the woman was lying when she told me this because I was six, but she said all the high school boys came there and were crying when they got it done (fiction, most likely) but I didn't shed a tear (surprisingly, fact :D). Make sure you get both sides pierced at the same time, it lessens the pain. Good luck, and remember, SMILE a BIG DIS SMILE when they do it, because the whole mall will be watching! :lmao: Practice with me now, SMILE! :scared: :lmao:

Oh, why didnt anybody tell me that when I got my ears pierced when I was six? I got my ears pierced and started crying my head off, she was about to do the other side but I said no and we didnt get my other ear pierced till the next day! :lmao:

coolkidhann95, it doesn't hurt at all...just a little pinch. :thumbsup2 Good luck, and dont be a cry baby like I was! I guess it wasn't that bad though, I have 2 earrings on each ear now! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Lol this is exactly why I am glad this was suggested to me, though with my absolute fear of needles if I hadn't done both at once I probably never would have gotten the other done.

From what little I remember though I agree it did not hurt nearly as bad as I thought it would, but I had way more troubles after which is why I recommend loosening up the backs if possible especially if there is swelling.

What should I expect and where should I get them?

I got them done from my moms friend, if your newly getting them pierced you should get a 20 or 18 gage. I used needles, I had 2 10 gages done, there big, and 2 14s. I did have an 18 though in third grade. So start with maybe 2 piercings of an 18 or 20. Then in a few months or years move onto like 16s or 14s.

Sorry to double post and by the way, you should get 2 people to pierce at the same time. When I got the 18 in third grade i hardly felt 1 so you should get both without hardly any pain.

Before you get your ears pierced, make sure you are not allergic to nickel, or silver! Many people are allergic to nickel.

Lots of earrings are made with nickel in them. When I first got my ears pierced, they got infected fast, and I couldn't understand why. (I had silver studs). When I went to get them pierced again, I asked for gold, but when I got home, I realized she put in silver earrings instead! After they got infected again, I came to the conclusion that I am allergic to silver and nickel earrings (I had tried some nickel earrings that resulted in VERY itchy ears).

A couple of years ago, I got my ears pierced again, and I made sure they were gold. I have not worn any earrings but gold, and I have not had an infection yet! :thumbsup2

I just wanted to warn you just in case. Maybe get gold studs (I have not heard of anybody who is allergic to gold), if you can, just in case, and then put in silver earrings, see if they affect your ears. If they do, just take them out, and put on some rubbing alcohol (works like a charm). This way, if you find out you ARE allergic to silver or nickel, you are able to remove them quickly (rather than waiting 6 weeks before being able to take them out).

FYI~ All of the earrings sold in Disney, do not contain nickel! :cool1:

Well, actually, you have your first contestant here. I got gold earrings for my birthday a while back, and they got crusted around the edges. i had to keep using peroxide on them. It wasn't pretty. But what I would suggest is that you get Hypo-Allergenic earrings. I use them all the time, and my ears are pretty good off now. My ears have had many problems in the past (and present) though, so some of my problems with gold could be linked with my other "cases". Just make sure you (Once again,) SMILE!!! :D
