~~ They're leaving the nest, sew it's time for a trip - or two - or three...~~ D~'s bag ~9/22 ~~

I'm sure you will make your tree work! I haven't put up a tree for quite a few years now. It's usually just Jim and I since he is super busy with work around Christmas (he was at the airport working on Christmas Eve last year). I just have a pretty ceramic one that a good friend made me so that serves as our tree. I really thought about buying a new pre-lit one this year but they are so expensive and I couldn't find one I really liked. Plus Jim basically said it was all my project because he didn't want one. It's just no fun putting up and taking down a tree by yourself.

And speaking of ratty looking Christmas trees, one year when I was growing up, my Dad cut down a pine tree from the back yard. We had a row of them and they were getting too big and close together so he took one down for our Christmas tree. This thing was horribly ratty with big gaps between the branches. My Dad was a bit of a joker so he told everyone who came to our house that he had purchased it for an exorbitant amount of money just so he could see their reactions.

If your top of your tree is bare, try making several fluffy bows to surround the top and fill it out. Does this make sense? (not sure I am describing it well.)

Good job on the GC savings!

I can't believe you found V's shirt. It's a funny story :)

I'm sure you'll find a way to get the short Christmas tree work for you and decorated.

How great that you can save money on the Disney gift cards.

I can't believe you are leaving for Disney again soon.

Today I had my last therapy riding class before Christmas. I will start again around 18th January. I've tried to get in contact with the caseworker at NAV that was going to order the electric wheel for my chair for 1 week now with out luck. It's so frustrating not getting to talk to her. I've asked the person I have talked to on the phone to say to the caseworker to call me back, but she hasn't. It's not the same lady that has to do with my car. The caseworker that has to do with the car I have a very good impression of and she has never been hard to get in contact with.

That story about your Dad's backyard Christmas tree!!!

D~, I can so feel your pain about Hubby bringing home something you have asked for....but not quite. My hubby is notorious for this. I have learned to say thank you and roll with it. This past Sunday, I discovered that I was out of hairspray. DH kindly volunteered to run and get some for me. He came home with .... wait for it....

AQUA NET!!!!

I am sure you and the girls will make a gorgeous tree of out what he brought home. I am sure we are the same in that we have incredible husbands who love us and do their very best to take care of us... no complaining from me on that!

LOL We thought it was a super funny story - seeing as this is one of her favorite shirts, and it has been missing for the whole week.
That is hysterical! So happy she was able to find it. I know I am always so happy when I find a lost shirt, it's a great feeling!:rotfl:
I was just hoping it would be a nice one. Oh well. It’s not about the tree or the beauty of it – it’s about family and togetherness and enjoying the holiday season. :lovestruc
Sorry you are disappointed by the tree. I bet it will still be beautiful and merry. :lovestruc
Target is having a gift card promotion this week…
I heard about this - what a great deal.
Soooo… I was able to purchase enough to pay for the Disney portion of the food for this trip.
That's great!:thumbsup2 Another important thing to check off your trip list.

Wow D - you scored with the Gift Cards! Can you combine them in way/shape/form so you don't have to carry so many with you? You are doing so good on the budget for January.

Well, a short tree is better than no tree? You won't have as much to decorate! We haven't had a real tree in many, many years. Just gave up on that a long time ago. Send pictures of what you decide to do with the top!

I am still laughing about V's shirt; Oxyclean is great for those muddy messes. I hope it came out okay in the wash. You should have taken a pic.

Good luck in your sewing room! Have a wonderful Wednesday!

I broke the news to him last night that I think this is our last year for a real tree... He didn't seem to be as sad about it as I thought he would be.
We stopped buying real trees and I'm glad we did. They were getting too expensive. I hope your tree looks better once it is decorated.

Target is having a gift card promotion this week… Buy 2 $25 Disney GCs and get a $5 Target GC.
I went over to Target at lunch time today and discovered this deal. I have been buying the Disney gift cards at Target and getting the 5% discount but this extra $5 Target gift card was a nice surprise. They also gave me the $5 gift card when I purchased two non-Disney gift cards. But I don't think you can use the Target gift cards to buy more Disney gift cards, can you? If the answer is yes then I'll be buying a lot of Disney gift cards this week.
A little more of a pain – since I have all of these $25 GCs to combine now…. But worth the hassle, I think. ::yes::
I've been combining my giftcards on the Disney gift card website: https://disneygiftcard.com/ If I have a lot of cards I'll have DH read off the numbers while I type them in. The hardest part is scratching off the silver coating. But I think I have become addicted to buying the discounted Disney gift cards. ;) Our June trip is a package, so I'm able to pay it off right through MDE instead of calling to make a payment.

Nice deal and the Disney GC I should look into that assuming you can use them at DL since that's where my next trip is.

So we have the exact opposite Christmas tree problem! We wanted a smaller one this year since DD is 17 months and it's going in the playroom (bad idea but DH is insistent). Anyway we went and got one and it looked a little big but nothing crazy, we had him take off the top branch cause it was really high..... Thank goodness since it almost hits the ceiling!!

So much for our small tree o_O

Yes – you can use them at DL… For ANYTHING in any Disney resort (not sure about Disney Paris though?) – there are a couple food kiosks/carts that can’t take them – so I’ve heard – I’ve never encountered it. 

I love your tree! It looks magnificent!!!!

I hope so… He insists it’s a 6.5 foot tree – but I would have to disagree. I agree – it would be no fun putting up the tree by yourself – or taking it down, for that matter.

Hahahaha… That’s a funny story!

If your top of your tree is bare, try making several fluffy bows to surround the top and fill it out. Does this make sense? (not sure I am describing it well.)

Good job on the GC savings!

Yes – I am planning to do this… I found a good tutorial on Pinterest… Pinterest makes everything look easy though. LOL So, we’ll see… :scratchin

I can't believe you found V's shirt. It's a funny story :)

I know! It was so funny!

I hope so – LOL It should be interesting.

Yes – it was nice to have that savings!

I sure hope you are able to contact someone soon – you would think it would be easier to get the wheel than it would be to get a car?

That story about your Dad's backyard Christmas tree!!!

Hahahaha… Aqua Net… Wow!!!! Didn’t even know they still made that? Well, your hair WILL NOT MOVE for sure. ::yes::

Well, we are going to try – that’s for sure. And yes – he does his very best. He seemed very hurt that I even implied that this tree was short… But he is a little delusional when it comes to his height as well – so… LOL Hopefully we can make it work.

That is hysterical! So happy she was able to find it. I know I am always so happy when I find a lost shirt, it's a great feeling!

Sorry you are disappointed by the tree. I bet it will still be beautiful and merry.

I heard about this - what a great deal.

LOL _ I know – we laughed hysterically about it. Usually she just loses stuff in her room – so that’s where I expected it to be… Not in a parking lot… Not to mention – we had a pretty good snow fall between meetings, so it’s amazing it was still right where it was dropped – since the parking lot had to of been plowed. :scratchin

It will be OK – and we will make it work… It will just be a lot shorter than I would like it to be.

Yes – it’s a pretty good deal – a little tedious, but a good deal.

YES!!! :woohoo:

Whew, that's a lot of gift cards!!

Yup and we will need them all!

That shirt story is just too funny.

::yes::

yes, they can be combined… I just have not done it yet. I need to dig out my GCs from my last trip – I have a few empty $100s, and not that I necessarily need to use those – it will be easier if they actually say $100 on them, or on most of them, so I don’t get confused.

Yes – LOL… Hopefully we can make it look nicer and bigger? :scratchin

LOL – she wore it to school yesterday – not a stain on it. LOL

Thanks!!! I got a lot accomplished – so I am happy about that!

YES!!!! You CAN use Target GCs to pay for the Disney GCs! ::yes:: :thumbsup2 And I was still earning MORE Target GCs as I was paying for the Disney GCs with Target GCs… Make sense? In the end – I ended up with $10 in Target GCs left over. But I could only buy so many Disney GCs… I wish I could afford to buy what I need for V’s trip right now too… Sigh.

I am going to try to get there this weekend sometime to get everything combined… I have my work cut out for me, for sure!

**************************************************************************

I had a great day yesterday… I worked at Target in the morning, and I was done early.

I was able to come home, have lunch and get to work upstairs… Where I accomplished a LOT in a short amount of time. ::yes:: I was a happy girl!

I was also able to get almost all of my Photopass edits done… I had to clean out the cookies on my computer – but I’ve been zipping along ever since. I just need to do one final check over to make sure I got everything done – then I can download them all.

The only annoying thing about that, is now that I have an AP and my photos are good for 1 year… They don’t disappear - so I’ll have to sift through all of my previous photos/trips every time I have a new trip – which, by the time I get to Victoria’s and I am very LIMITED on the time I have left to edit them – it will be crazy trying to get through her’s and edit them. I wish there was a way that Photopass could clean them out once I’ve downloaded them all? I may have to email them about that after I get these done?

Today… I will be working out… Then working upstairs all day. I am still trying to catch up on this week’s custom order, I have a good dent in it – and I am almost caught up, so I should be OK after today. :scratchin

I hope you all have a great day! Prayers and good thoughts go out to all of you! :grouphug:

Do you know how long the $5 Target card offer lasts? I am trying to pay down the June trip but I still need to keep some money for regular weekly expenses. I can't blame you for wanting to try and pay for V's trip with the offer. I feel the same way. It seems too good a deal to pass up, but unfortunately, there are too many other expenses that come first. :(

You can delete them, I had some duplicate ride photos that I got rid of. I think I just hovered over the photo and a delete button popped up. Or maybe I right clicked on the photo. I can't remember for sure now. But I could not find a way to delete more than one at a time so that could be quite tedious as I'm sure you have a lot. I would try calling tech support and see if they can do a mass delete for you once you download.

Once you download the pictures from the last trip, I would contact disney tech and see if there is any way to delete the pictures. Are you sure that all the pictures stay for a year? With the regular photopass not the AP one, i know the pictures expired.

Good luck with the custom order, and enjoy this beautiful day! :goodvibes

The V story is hilarious! I am sure she was thrilled to have it back, whatever the condition.

I have been away for a couple days. So, gift ideas for teen girls. Well, when Marissa had her trip planned for Ireland, I wanted to get her some new luggage that was just hers and that she could then take to college and not be ashamed. With your trips to WDW, Allison might already have a nice set. This Christmas, since Marissa has moved out, she is getting some of the stuff that she has been living without, because she had always used mine, such as hairdryer and curling iron/straightener. She asked for an actual watch, because she gets tired of having to refer to her phone. I think that one is kind of funny. I think the VB backpack is a good idea. I wish I had thought ahead about the dorm living, but she wasn't even sure at that time if she would get into this house and how much room she would have. Marissa says her room is probably least decorated, that all the other rooms look like Pinterest show rooms. She also wants boot socks (stocking stuffer). However, graduation is coming up too, so some of that stuff can be saved for then. I wish I had more suggestions for V. Marissa loves the Uniqlo jacket. They are very lightweight (sort out of the sleeping bag material). You can stuff it in a little tiny bag and carry it in your backpack or purse. Chelsea has one and it is super warm and if you want you can layer it. I need to get one for Marissa.

Sorry you are suffering from small Christmas tree syndrome. Once it is decorated, it is going to look beautiful, plus, you only have 2 weeks before Christmas, so not a lot of time to have to look at it, if you really end up not liking it.

I hope the nursing home calls and offers Allison the job.

Great job on the Disney GCs!

Sounds like you had a good day yesterday

How great that you got all your Photopass photo edited. It sounds like a good idea to contact them and ask if it's possible to don't see the pictures you have downloaded from the site.

The lady that has my wheel case at NAV called me back yesterday, but she didn't have any good news for me :( She is waiting for some documentation on some tests from the firm that imports the wheel to Norway. I mailed the film last evening and asked them if they know when they will have the documents and send them to NAV. I haven't heard from them yet and now the time is about 8.30pm, so I don't think I will hear from them today. I really hope I hear from them tomorrow AND that they have some good news for me.

I shopped at two different Target stores today and both of them gave the $5 Target gift card if you bought two $50 Disney gift cards, not the $25 Disney cards. In fact, they didn't even have the $25 cards in the store. And the sale sign states that you have to buy two $50 cards. So I guess we don't get the super deal that you are getting. :( But I am still thrilled to get the $5 Target gift cards. :)

It goes through Saturday business close… I totally agree… If only I could skip all of my other bills. LOL

Yes – I have over 700 in there now… That would get to be a little tedious… I may try to email them, they are always super helpful, and I am sure it can be done.

I think I will do that. Yes – because I have an AP, my expiration date on each picture is one year from the date the photo was taken… So, there is a date of November 2016 on all of my pictures. :thumbsup2

Yah – right now, as it is, I am having to spend so much time scrolling to the bottom of each page to edit… Hopefully PP can just delete what is on there now and I can start new in January?

Thanks – I made good progress… Hoping for more progress today.

She was – LOL I still chuckle when I think about it.

You have some excellent ideas – I may have to run out to see if I can find some good luggage for her? :scratchin I know she will use it if she has it.

Yah – it’s still not up… Long story – I will tell below. Sigh.

Me too – thanks!!! I sure hope she hears something back soon.

Thanks – I was impressed with myself… I had to do a lot of driving – but I was happy that I was able to get what I needed.

But did V wear the shirt?

Hahaha… Yes, yes she did. Proudly. ::yes::

Sounds like you had a good day yesterday

Yes – hopefully they can help me out.

I hope you hear something back today – I know it’s hard to wait on someone else.

My guess is that the stores in your area are out of the $25 Disney GCs? Target only carries them during the holidays in the $25 denomination… I know – when I went out on Tuesday, I had to go to 3 different stores to get as many as I needed for the best deal… So, it’s possible they are just sold out for the season. I was kind of worried that would happen – since I was having issues already on Tuesday. I am glad you were able to get the $50s though – that is better than nothing. :thumbsup2

********************************************************************************

I had a pretty decent day yesterday – as usual, I worked out right away in the morning.

Then, I decided I better try to get a few of my $25 Disney GCs combined… I am glad I did – because the first 2 I tried didn’t work. Because of that – I went through all of them… I was really worried that Target wouldn’t exchange them, because I had to scratch off the back to reveal the numbers – so then I was out $50. But after an hour of adding GC numbers – I tried those first two again, and they worked. Crisis averted. In all of my years doing GCs to pay for my trips – only one time have I had a dud card… and thankfully Target exchanged it without much trouble – even though it was partially scratched off on the back…. Because of that, I always try to check the balances of the cards a day or two after buying them, sometimes it takes that long for them to be “activated”.

Anyways – doing all of the GCs put me a little behind for starting work yesterday – but I did get up there and I did make a good amount of progress. ::yes::

Allison had a Dr. appt. after school yesterday – so I had to run to town.

We came home to wait for the delivery truck… Long story short – Josh’s dad sold his house in ND… Josh went up last weekend to help him pack up some stuff… In the process – he gave Josh one of his “curio cabinets” and his spare front loader washer/dryer sets. If you knew Josh’s dad – you’d know that he does NOTHING small – ever. We were expecting a moving truck to pull up with our delivery… Which was actually a FULL size 18 wheeler… And this “little” curio cabinet I was expecting is actually 5’ wide by 7’ tall… Sigh… It barely fit into our house! The Lord only knows what we will do with the washer/dryer set… I told Josh when our dryer died a few years ago – I refused (refused) to buy a front loader anything, because they are just crap… Anyone I know of that has had one, had had to replace it with in a few years because there are always issues with them – some of them pretty major… So, NO – I will not replace my perfectly good top loaders for these. For the time being – this new set with go into storage, and it will likely go on to Craigslist or donated to someone who needs it. Sigh.

Anyways… Taking on this delivery and trying to find a spot to put this new curio cabinet – prompted the entire dissection of our living room last night… Including our built in TV entertainment center… Which was literally built in. But we had to move it, because there was no other place to put the curio due to it’s size… Ugh – I am still not happy with it’s location –or the location that the rest of our furniture is forced to be put in… It does not look organized or nice at all. Well – the new entertainment wall looks nice – but that’s about it. We will have to buy a new entertainment console – because we have nowhere to store our massive DVD collection – which will have to be sorted and whittled down too. Sigh – why do we have to do some sort of big project every year before we put up the tree? :scratchin

Here we are in the curio… Yah – it’s massive. For the record… When I mentioned to Josh a few weeks ago that I wanted a curio cabinet to move my doll collection into, so I could then put my Grandmother’s China in the China cabinet… I was thinking a SMALL corner curio – my doll collection is very small. :scratchin
20151210_171857_1.jpg

So, yup… The tree isn’t up yet. But we have the perfect spot for it now – so that’s progress, I guess. The tree WILL be going up this weekend – preferably tonight.

I have a busy day ahead of me today…

I’ll be working out – but before I can work out, I have to move everything from the living room that we put in the office last night, out of the office and back into the living room – or I won’t have the physical space to work out. Sigh. That seems to be my lot in life – and it’s tiring… Everyone loves to just shove everything they can into the office – but if I want to work out, I am the one stuck cleaning it out. It’s really annoying and seems to happen to me, at least once per week.

Then I will be upstairs appliqueing all day… I hope to finish the applique, and maybe get a start on final assembly today too. ::yes::

I hope you all have a wonderful day!!! Prayers and good thoughts to all! :grouphug:
