~~ They're leaving the nest, sew it's time for a trip - or two - or three...~~ D~'s bag ~9/22 ~~

I made a scheduling error - so I am working on two bags simultaneously this week. I will be working every possible moment this week to try and catch myself up in time for my trip. I have a custom order next week and one the week after - and then I am done until after I get home from WDW. :woohoo: It's getting so close - I can hardly stand it!
Wow! That does sound busy!
Suzi mailed my MB yesterday... So, I am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. ::yes::
ooh that's so exciting!!!:goodvibes I think it really sets in that your going to Disney when you finally see your magic band.

The trip is getting so close now. So happy you get to have this opportunity. I can't even begin to imagine what kind of trouble you all will get into.

Love that V got to meet her favorite artist. That was sweet of her to give her one of her drawings.

Hope you aren't too busy to enjoy your week.

Hey D,

I bet you are so excited about your upcoming trip. That sounds like fun. All of your outfits look amazing!!! Your Dad is adorable. It's great you got to reconnect with so many people. Sorry it was at such a sad occasion!

That's so cool that V got to meet her favorite author/artist and that she spent so much time with her. We took our daughter to meet Chris Colfer. He writes the series called The Land of Stories. We drove almost an hour to meet him, waited an hour even though we had a number. He literally said "Hi, how are you." To my daughter, signed his book and that was it. She was thrilled but I was a little bummed. We couldn't take a picture of them together. I have one of her back and him signing her book. She was happy so that's all that mattered! What we don't do for our kiddos!!

Great job on your running and working out! I did my five mile run last week. That last half mile as a killer. You continue to be such an inspiration to so many, me included.

Have a great day!!

I am getting very excited! :woohoo: And a little wee bit nervous... Long flight to FL, with out my girls - I've never done FL before, with out them. But it will be OK.

That is awesome that you took your dd to meet Chris Colfer... A bit sad that he only spent very little time with her - and didn't let you take a picture... What a bummer - but at least your dd had fun, and it was a memorable experience for her.

Thanks!!! Yes - that last half mile - whoa!!! I literally have to take my brain off of running and think of something else totally and just let my body move - which I am sure I resemble Igor - but whatever. LOL WTG on getting that long run in!!! :woohoo: I am very proud of you! I am pretty sure I am doing another 5.5 miles this weekend... I have my 8k race coming at the end of November, and I really want the 8k to "feel easy". ::yes:: So, I am hoping to be up to 6+ miles by then.

Thanks for stopping by - have a great day too! :lovestruc

Your MB will work for park entry. You won't need to use the card. But you'll want to keep it with you anyway, because you will have to show it when getting the 10% passholder discount for merchandise and some restaurants.

I have a desk job so I make a point to get up and move around. I work in an office building with the bathroom about 3/4 of a block away which adds steps. And I usually use a bathroom located a few floors up so I can get the cardio workout.

:thumbsup2 I can tell that you are competitive like me.

It looks like you ordered a grey band. Do you have plans to make a cover for it?

OK Sue - thanks for all the info - I think I've finally "got it". LOL I am glad you reminded me about he AP discount... I'd forgotten all about it. That will help with the meager souvenirs I plan to buy. ::yes:: Quite honestly - I think I am only planning on getting a couple items this trip - I plan to save most of it for during Allison's trip... I am hoping to get a 2015 A&A bracelet and a 2015 pin... And maybe a little something from MVMCP? We'll see... But the bulk of what I wan t to buy will be waiting until January. :: yes::

Excellent idea... I sort-of have a desk job... I wonder if my neighbors would mind if I borrowed their bathroom during the day? :scratchin Hehehehe.... Or - I could climb my stairs 6 times in order to "allow" myself to use the bathroom... Hmmmm... Lots of stuff I could do - I guess. LOL

Well, I do plan to paint it... I think? I would like to do dots just like my red one... But I also ordered these decals (in both black and white)... I have not decided which I want to do yet?

11781617_10200735055735567_167041134661142047_n.jpg

But I did make a couple of new MB covers for this trip - nothing elaborate, but I did like them on my last trip, so I thought I'd do a few more - they don't take me long to whip up. If I have the time - I will make one to go with my Goofy set too. ::yes:: What do you think? Decals? Dots?

I hope your day goes better than you fear it will.
Your trip to WDW is suddenly so close.

I went to the doctor last week to try and find out if am allergic to any food. I'm struggling with diarrhea at home, but when I was in USA my stomach was fine. So that tells me it must be something with the food I'm eating. I got the results from the doctor today and everything came back ok. I know something is not right and I know it has to do with the food I'm eating since my stomach is fine as soon as I eat junkfood.

My day went really well - Somtimes I think I work better under pressure. LOL Both of these bags are cruising along nicely. :thumbsup2

I know - I am starting to get really excited/nervous.

I hope you are figuring out what's causing your GI distress... That is never any fun. It's strange that eating junk food makes your stomach less upset. :scratchin I would think it would be the opposite? I hope you feel better soon Lillian. :lovestruc

I feel like I missed so much, but I am catching up! Congrats, on being an aunt. It is a wonderful thing!! This weekend we had the baby reveal party......it's a GIRL!!! We would be happy either way. It was great spending time with the family and the little one again. Miss them terribly, as they went back home. I probably won't see them till Spring, but with the new baby coming it might give me the push to go sooner to visit and meet the new little one.
We had a great time at our college visit and we did drive out to spend time with family.

How was your visit with your dad? The weather here is chilly, we had snow coming down over the weekend. I am not ready.

Trip is coming soon, I am so excited for you. Loved the Goofy bag, and all those lovely outfits.

Have a wonderful day!

Hi Lynee! Thank you!

Eeeep - it's a girl!!! Congratulations!!! Lots of sweet frilly baby stuff in your future! :woohoo: I know it's hard that they live so far away - I can so realate. But the new baby as incentive to visit doesn't hurt either. :lovestruc

My visit with dad was good - shorter than I would have liked, but good. The edema in his legs is finally calming down a bit - and he was able to get around quite easily with just his cane this time - although we did have his walker with us just in case.

Yikes for snow - I am NOT ready either! :( The only thing getting me through this winter is 2 Disney trips.

Thanks - I am getting really excited/nervous! I am so excited to wear my new outfits - I hope they are as great as I think they will be. :scratchin

Thanks for stopping by - it was great to see you! And thanks for the update. :)

Wow! That does sound busy!

ooh that's so exciting!!! I think it really sets in that your going to Disney when you finally see your magic band.

Yah - I did it to myself really. LOL Sometimes I think I work better under pressure.

I think they might be here today? I hope... I am debating if I want to do the decals (posted above) or if I want to paint dots on like I did with my red one? I am having trouble deciding.

The trip is getting so close now. So happy you get to have this opportunity. I can't even begin to imagine what kind of trouble you all will get into.

Love that V got to meet her favorite artist. That was sweet of her to give her one of her drawings.

Hope you aren't too busy to enjoy your week.

Hi Shannon!!! Yes - it is getting so close. Hopefully we can keep ourselves out of trouble - at least a little bit. It will be fun though - I know it! I am just so grateful that I get to see these girls one more time this year. :lovestruc

Yes - it was so neat that V was able to meet her. She is still thanking me for taking her.

Thanks - I feel like I do better under pressure sometimes... LOL

It was great to see you Shannon - I hope you and the family are doing well?

********************************************************************************************

I had a good day yesterday... I lifted early, I ate breakfast early, and I was upstairs working by 8:30am - which NEVER happens. But an early start allowed me to be very productive and I am right on schedule for where I need to be this week on these bags. ::yes::

I was even done early enough to get out for a run... Just a short one - but better than nothing. My pace is a little off - I forgot to shut off my Garmin for a good 2-3 minutes after I'd stopped. And I had to wear a cotton tank yesterday - I wasn't prepared for a 72° run - so all of my running tanks were dirty - I wore the next best thing... A run tank. LOL

2015-10-20_15.38.14.jpg

I made a home made chicken alfredo baked dish for dinner and then I relaxed most of the night.

Today - I'll work out right away, then I hope to get upstairs early again and get as much done as possible. I have to run to town this afternoon.

January trip update

I am still frantically searching for airfare for this trip. I've been searching daily since July, and about 3 weeks ago - flights went UP across the board, and haven't gone down. I am starting to get very nervous about this. I really wanted to get these flights for under $450 total r/t, I'd settle at $550... but right now they are at $800 and I just cannot do that... So - lots of pixie dust that these flights will come down. :thumbsup2 I am searching a day before and a day after... I could settle and fly in late that night and leave early in the morning - but that just seems like such a waste to me.

Despite that - I am still super excited about this trip! :woohoo:

I also emailed Shades of Green yesterday with our room request... I requested (in this order)...

1. Magnolia section, pool view
2. 2nd floor (which is the main floor)
3. A room with a double vanity in the bathroom.

The last time we stayed here (2008), we had a room in section F - overlooking the Mickey head pool - and it was a great location - however it was a LONG walk. I am hoping for something similar this time. As usual - they cannot guarantee room requests, but honestly - there really isn't a room with a bad view at SoG.

Anyways... I hope you all have a marvelous day!!! Prayers and Pixie Dust to all! :grouphug:

D~

How great that you got so much done yesterday.
I hope you find flight tickets soon for an acceptable price.
I red your resort update and thought WHAT! does she know what resort she is staying at in November? I thought that was going to be a surprise. Then I red it again and thought oh well then someone couldn't keep the secret. Then I red it a 3rd and final time and THEN I realize it says January trip update. That explains it all :)

Yes it's odd that my stomach is fine on junk food. I would have thought it would be the other way around.
I heard on the radio today that all Norwegian women are working for free for the rest of the year if you compare their salary to mens salary.
Nothing exciting happening here. I had my therapy horse riding lesson today. The weather has been bad for over a week now, rain and a lot of wind. Today it's not raining that much, but it's still a little rain in the air and of course it's cloudy.

I *love* those MB decals -- they're very similar to what I did with my band for our August trip. Where did you order them from? I looked everywhere for something like that and finally got lucky and found someone here on the DIS who had made some for herself and was willing to send me the pattern so I could have my sister cut them.

I'll be praying that you find a good airfare deal!

I think they might be here today? I hope... I am debating if I want to do the decals (posted above) or if I want to paint dots on like I did with my red one? I am having trouble deciding.
I absolutely love the decals! And the way you paint the MBs is so cool as well. Maybe have one of each for this trip?

And I had to wear a cotton tank yesterday - I wasn't prepared for a 72° run - so all of my running tanks were dirty - I wore the next best thing... A run tank. LOL
Yes the weather yesterday was very warm considering, that's the thing about the fall - one day it can be super cold and others you barely need a jacket!

I made a home made chicken alfredo baked dish for dinner and then I relaxed most of the night.
That sounds so good.

Oh gosh, I'm sorry you're still having this issue with the flights. Sending tons of pixie dust your way...I bet they'll go down again, it may be cutting it close, but it would be much better then paying $800.
Despite that - I am still super excited about this trip! :woohoo:
I bet you are! And you are so lucky you are able to go on 2 wonderful trips to Disney within 2 months of each other!:goodvibes

Yeah I've stayed at SoG as well, only once but it was a pretty nice resort! I love that Mickey pool! Your room requests sound good too!:thumbsup2

I have never seen the layout for Shades of Green! It looks big! Is it as massive in person as it looks on the map. Awesome you got to put in your room requests this early!

The weather here (Milwaukee) has been like you. Up and down, cold and hot. It drives me nuts because I don't know how to dress!

I've been reading along, but haven't commented in some time. Have you tried ITA Software Matrix to search for flights? They have a feature where you can view a calendar of best flight prices, and right now, for January, they seem to be in the $250 range. You don't purchase flights from the site. You just find the flight on the site and it directs you to where it can be purchased.

Your trip is coming up fast--and two trips, nonetheless! You're so fortunate that your husband is so agreeable to all your vacations. My husband would go along with it, but would likely be quietly resentful that the money wasn't being spent on a vacation that included him (or on the house to-do list). I did a non-Disney trip catered more to him this summer and put some money into house projects, so now I feel that I can plan another Disney trip. (It's not that he doesn't like Disney, especially vacationing with the family. It's just that his enjoyment of WDW is not at my level, so I need to balance things out with things that he likes. BUT, there is a big golf trip he wants to take next year, so that may work in my favor :-)

Your girls are growing up fast and into such beautiful young ladies. Is Allison pretty excited about her upcoming graduation? Does she have her plans for next year all set? That's great that she was able to use her photography skills to earn some extra money. When my youngest son was a senior, his good friend had a pretty lucrative business doing senior photo sessions for classmates. Plus she saved us parents a lot of money off the studio prices. I remember being really caught off guard with respect to the EXPENSE of the senior year of high school--crazy!

I'm looking forward to reading more of your trip planning!

I'm glad you had a good visit with your dad even though it was cut short.
The weather here has been really nice the last couple days. We did get wet snow on saturday and sunday. I am not ready for winter. I actually put the car in the garage saturday night. That's something I on;y do in the winter. We're going for a walk on the bike trail after my daughter gets home from work. there's a waterfall off of the trail that she wants to get pictures of.
I always wondered what Shades of Green looked like. It looks huge from the map. All I've ever seen is the sign from the monorail. Hopefully the plane faares go down soon. It's still so hard to believe that your girls are so grown up.
I hope your had a good day.
Liz

Yes - it was nice.

I hope so too - I keep looking and it's not going well. I am starting to get very nervous.

Hahahha... Yes - I was referring to my Jan trip, not the Nov one... I still don't know where I am staying for that one. Although - I am pretty sure it's not the Poly or GF. ::yes::

Fun that you get to ride horse for therapy, but I hope you are feeling better soon.

Thanks!!! I purchased them from a Disboutiquer friend... I think I remember her saying something about having to bond them with "heat"? Hoping - if I decide to go this route, my hair dryer on HOT will be OK for heat?

I love the resort! reminds me of POR???

Maybe a little... I think it's more like WL... It has a distinct Snow White feel to it - since Disney remodeled it in the 90's to a Show White theme - and even though all of the SW theming is gone - the "feel" is still there. IMO. It's a beautiful resort... I think the couches in the rooms could stand to be replaced - but otherwise, it's quite nice. I posted a more informative link below.

I absolutely love the decals! And the way you paint the MBs is so cool as well. Maybe have one of each for this trip?

Yes - I just haven't decided yet... The decals will go well with my SBW outfits, so I'll probably go that route?

I hope they come down soon... I am just afraid - with the holidays approaching - the prices will skyrocket.

I know!!!! I am very lucky! Trust me... This is NOT a normal thing for me.

Yes - we have only stayed there once too, but we did really enjoy it. It was a LOT of walking, because - most days, we preferred to use Poly transporatation... I am hoping - now that I am in much better shape - the excessive walking won't be quite as hard on me. :scratchin

See... Circa 2008... Way different body now...

The weather here (Milwaukee) has been like you. Up and down, cold and hot. It drives me nuts because I don't know how to dress!

It's pretty big - I am not sure how it compares to sizes of other Disney resorts - but SoG has just under 600 rooms - and they are the largest on WDW property. The resort was originally a Disney resort - so the "feel" is there, but it's not- if that makes sense? The location can't be beat - you can see the MK and Wishes from many of the upper rooms at SoG... But their transportation isn't the greatest - which is why I've steered clear of it for several trips. I've posted a more informative link about SoG below- since it seems not many people know much about it and are interested in it. :thumbsup2

I know - LOL... It's been rough!

Here to follow along!

Hi!!!! Welcome!!! Thanks for stopping by - I hope you are enjoying my PTR! :lovestruc

Welcome back!!! I have not tried that... I've been using Kayak, I'll be sure to give that one a try. Thank you! :D

Hahaha... Josh is much the same way about my trips... But - he goes on 3-5 hunting/fishing trips per year - which I have really no interest in doing with him... So, we kind of agree to let eachother do things like this... Mine cost much more- but that's because, usually, I am bringing the girls with - so if we cost it out per person - it's about the same. ::yes:: But yes - after these 3 trips are done, I'll probably have to take a break - but I've said that before, and look where I am now. :scratchin

Thank you... Yes - Allison does have a few plans for next year, we are still ironing out the specifics. She is going to Europe for 4-6 weeks after graduation to stay with her uncle Brian and family - it's a great opportunity for her. Then, when she comes home - she will go off to college - she knows where, but hasn't 100% decided. We are headed there for a 2nd tour next week - hopefully she will decide for sure then. :scratchin

Yes - her senior year has been an eye opening experience, for sure. I am sure there are more costs involved that we have no idea about yet... At least we will be better prepared for V next year. :D

Thanks for stopping by - it was great to see you!

I'm glad you had a good visit with your dad even though it was cut short.

Thanks Liz.... It sounds like you are getting some good outdoor activity in before the weather gets too bad. I can't believe you've had snow already... Although - we have had full ground cover by Halloween - circa 1991 & the "Great Halloween Blizzard"...

I am posting an informative link about SoG below - it seems many here are interested in seeing/reading more about it. :thumbsup2

Thanks - I hope so too, I am starting to get really nervous!

Have a great day Liz, thanks for stopping by! :D

******************************************************************************************************

OK - so just a quick update - I am running so late this morning!

Yesterday was a good day... I worked out right away and I went up to work early.

I stopped at lunch time and ran to town to run a few errands that couldn't wait.

By the time I got home - it was dinner time, so we had leftovers - each at different times, because we all came home at different times.

I was in bed by 7:30pm, I don't even remember Josh coming to bed.

Today is a Target day... I know - it's Thursday.... but oh well.

*****************************************************************************************************

More January trip updates....

Still no airfare - I've started checking multiple times per day... Sigh.

However - the plan was to purchase the 4 day military tickets for Allison... Since we are staying at SoG - I was planning to purchase them upon arrival... BUT due to FP+, I have to purchase them at least 30 days in advance... Which means I need to purchase them by the beginning of Dec - so I have the #s in time to link them to Allison. However... Disney has NOT released the new military tickets for 2016 yet... And I have no idea if they are even going to. If this is the case - I will be forced to pay much MORE for Allison's ticket than budgeted, because I will have to purchase it through Disney. What a mess... I hope they announce the military ticket release soon - because the ones they have now expire on Dec 17th - so I can't even purchase them now and use them later.

Sigh.... And Grrrrrr.....

****************************************************************************************************

And here's the promised link on more info on Shades of Green - it was actually pretty interesting and informative... Not sure I agree with everything in the review - but it's the most information about the resort that I've found in one place - and it's a good overview. :thumbsup2

http://**************.net/2015/03/24/review-shades-of-green-resort-at-walt-disney-world-2/

I hope you all have a wonderful day!!! Prayers and good thoughts to all of you! :grouphug:

D~

D,

Are these the tickets you a looking for?

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...tary-with-special-ticket-room-rates-for-2016/

We stayed at SoG with my parents when our son was 2. We loved it. I believe it's been renovated since then. I remember there was a coffee cart by the front. They had a coffee drink called a "Shot in the Dark." It was so good!
I also loved the walk to the Poly!! You're going to have a great time!!! Have a great day.

I hope your day at Target goes fast.

I really hope the airfare comes down soon. And that Disney releases the military tickets soon. It's so stressful not having everything ready for a trip.

Fun that you get to ride horse for therapy, but I hope you are feeling better soon.
At the moment it doesn't feel like the horse therapy helps, but I'm crossing my fingers that I'm allowed to do this next year as well.

My Occupational Therapist called me 2 weeks ago and asked if I had time to go and test some electric wheelchairs before ordering one for me. She said she would call me back to confirm what date and time we got an appointment to try the wheelchairs. Well she didn't call me back last week or on Monday this week, so I thought that the appointment wouldn't happen until earliest next week. Today at 11am she called just to ask if it was ok that a Occupational Therapist student came with her to the wheelchair appointment today. WHAT :scared1: :scared1: I never heard about that appointment. When I told her that she never called back to confirm the appointment. She was very surprised. She said that the appointment was today at 2pm. I told her that 2pm was not possible because I had an appointment with my physiotherapist at 2.24pm She looked in her papers again and said no the appointment is from 1pm to 2pm. I told her that I could make it to that appointment. My day ended up being very hectic. But I managed to meet at both appointments today.

The person approving my application for the electric wheel for my manual wheelchair came by when we were trying the electrical wheelchairs to hear what I think. I asked her when I would get the wheel and she said that the company that deliver the wheel was supposed to give her some papers that says the wheel had passed some tests. She didn't know when those paper was coming. It looks like I'm going to have to wait quite some time for that wheel

When reading the SOG information from your link, I linked to this site:
http://www.militarydisneytips.com/Disney-Armed-Forces-Salute.html

...which states the following about the 2016 military ticket discount:
Disneycurrently has two different and separate Disney Armed Forces Salute offers.
The 2014-2015 Salute expires after 20 December 2015 fo tickets and 23 December 2015 for rooms
The 2016 Salute starts on 3 January 2016 and runs through 19 December 2016.

The decals will go well with my SBW outfits, so I'll probably go that route?
That would look so pretty!
I hope they come down soon... I am just afraid - with the holidays approaching - the prices will skyrocket.
Yeah I know what you mean. Would you use a different airline if it was cheaper?
I know!!!! I am very lucky! Trust me... This is NOT a normal thing for me.
I bet we all wish it was a normal thing!::yes:::thumbsup2
Yes - we have only stayed there once too, but we did really enjoy it. It was a LOT of walking, because - most days, we preferred to use Poly transporatation... I am hoping - now that I am in much better shape - the excessive walking won't be quite as hard on me. :scratchin
I bet you'll be great! And yes it is awesome you are so close to the Poly for transportation.

Disney has NOT released the new military tickets for 2016 yet.
I hope they release them soon...

Europe for 4-6 weeks--Allison must be very excited! What a fantastic opportunity!

Also, you likely already know this, but I find that Tuesday afternoons are the best time for purchasing flights. I have two boys in the military, so I've had to book many flights home for their leaves, and Tuesdays (sometimes Wednesdays) always seem to have the best prices. I'm sure it will work out, but sending pixie dust to help.

Can I ask--when you stay at SOG, do you take a cab to and from the airport? I read on your link that Magical Express isn't included when staying at that resort. The plus to not taking ME is that it would sure be nice to have an opportunity to stop at a grocery store on the way to the resort. SOG looks beautiful.

If your MB decal is vinyl, you may not need heat -- mine didn't need heat. If you do need heat, use a hair dryer on hot but the low blowing setting.
