~~ They're leaving the nest, sew it's time for a trip - or two - or three...~~ D~'s bag ~9/22 ~~

The first time we stayed on property it was at the Contemporary, in a theme park view room..It was incredible, could watch the fireworks from our balcony every night and not have to fight the crowd..And the monorail running through was quite exciting for my then 2 yr old grandson..We could stand outside our door and watch the napkin waving shenanigans at Chef Mickey, it was an awesome, once in a lifetime experience for us.

Congrats on your November trip! :) How awesome to be staying at the Comtemporary!!!

Hope you area doing well! :)

Just wanted to say trip looks like its shaping up for November, and that flight!

Also the Wave is really good! We did dinner there but i am sure Breakfast is good too, and Contemporary Cafe for QS was really good, the staff was really nice too.

Yup - I am super excited for the November trip! I am so happy to be able to share this with Suzi, Mo and thier families.

I am very excited to be staying at CR... It will be my first deluxe experience and hopefully not my last. ::yes::

Congrats on getting your flights. You're going to have so much fun!! Do you still post pictures of your bags?? They are amazing!!! Hav a great day.

Thanks! I am so excited.

I am sorry - I've stopped posting pictures of my bags here on the Dis. :) I'll be posting anything I make for customs for our trip though - and that includes any bags I make too... I have some great ideas that I am super excited about. And let's not forget - I have 2 different holiday trips coming up... Christmas and then Halloween - so I'll have some great customs for those events too! ::yes::

fantastic! I hope you guys love the Contemporary!!! Tom really wants to stay there next time.. I want the poly. YAY for 10 minutes earlier!!! it does make a difference!!!
Great job on getting air fair. umm I still need to get HOME from Maine!!!

I am very excited! It looks like there are NO bad rooms in the garden wing with a garden view booking. :thumbsup2

I hope you love the Contemporary. I have stayed at BLT a couple of times, DH likes but I think it is only okay. I find that it takes forever to get anywhere except Magic Kingdom from BLT.
Since you are staying at the Contemporary, you should try the wave's breakfast. DH and I ate at the wave for breakfast when we did our night without the kids 3 years ago.

I am excited... I cannot wait to try it out. And from some of the pictures - it looks like the walk from the garden wing - even the furthest room isn't any farther than our preferred room at FQ... So it should be nice.

I am certain that Suzi booked one breakfast at the Wave... It looks delicious!

Congrats on getting cheap airfare for your trip. Staying at the CR means you can walk to the MK if you want. We love Kona but have never had their breakfast. My favorite is the steak.
I bought some fabric to make curtains for my kitchen window. That should be a quick project.
Today I'm going to get a hair cut and then get rid of the dead rose bushes in the front yard. I'm planting hostas. They're harder to kill.
I'm glad the potty training is coming along. Cooper will catch on.
Have a great day.
Liz

I am very excited about that.

I'd still like to try Kona, since I"ve never eaten there... but Allison and I have it planned for her graduation trip - so I'll get to try it then. ::yes::

I Hope your curtains turned out nicely. I love doing quick projects like that.

Have FUN! I am also getting my hair done today.

Yes - potty trainiing is coming along... Some days are great - others not so much... Part of the issue is that Josh thinks Cooper should have an endless bowl of water at all times... He doesn't realize that when you are potty training a puppy - you give them water, let them drink - then take it away for a little while, so you can "time" their potty breaks.

I hope you had a nice holiday weekend.

:woohoo: How great that your maybe November trip is now a definitely happening trip
Getting fabric for future bags sounds exciting. I can't wait to see the finish products.
That's great that you found a new headband person. I can't wait to see what she makes for you.
I'm glad to hear that Cooper is doing great. Accidents while potty training will happen. But I'm glad to hear that there aren't that many of them. I'm sure it will just get better and better.

Yes - I am very excited about it!! Cannot wait!

Me too - I am very excited to see what she makes for me!

He is doing better - we just have to keep a close eye on him. ::yes::

Yay! So glad your November trip is actually going to happen. And that is a great price for airfare. Have you ever flow on different airlines like that before? For some reason anytime I have done different airlines I get searched more thoroughly. I guess it's the "one-way" thing. Hopefully that doesn't happen to you.

Me too - I am very excited.

Yes, I have flown on different airlines - not by choice though. Last year, when I went to Chicago, I was booked on... Hmmm... I don't remember - I think it was Sun country??? Then when I logged in on the website the night before to check in for my flight - they had cancelled my flight and rebooked me on one the following day (so a day later than my flight needed to be)... So, I scrambled and booked my outbound flight on Southwest.... Then I cancelled my outbound flight on sun country... So, in the end, I flew on 2 different airlines... I didn't have any issues at all. I think the issue is one-way flights, as long as you have a round trip booked - even on different airlines - it's OK? Not sure?

Yes....I probably would have stayed if we could fit in a regular lodge room. Doesn't look like the courtyard will be bothered much. But we need 3 beds and not bunks. So we are limited.

Its funny you say that about taking the boat over to explore. I plan to do just that on arrival day. We will take the boat over and rent a surrey bike to ride over to FtW. I do love the WL...we usually visit every trip to just explore and soak up the atmosphere. I picked it this time for the Christmas decorations, but then found out we would be too early for that. So I would rather save our "Christmas resort" for a time we can actually see the tree!

That would be sooooo fun! Awww...I can see the pictures now!

10 Mins later dear....I really wanted like 5:30ish, so I will keep checking. 4:40 was too early. I pushed it back 10 mins. Still looking!

And yes, you do need to get home from ME, but I am not so worried about that. You can always stay

Super, super excited... For our trip in 8 days!!!! And our trip in November!~!!!! Cannot wait!!!

Glad you got both flights done now...and you still did great on price. It's been over 20 some years since we stayed at the Contemporary, but you can't beat the convenience.

Thanks!!! I am very excited about this trip!!! I cannot wait to try out my first deluxe resort!!! :woohoo:

We had no issues with the garden wing at the Contemporary. It made us love that resort even more.

I've heard great things about it - granted, there isn't much out there - but from what I have heard, everyone loves it and for the price - it can't be beat. I am very excited to try it out!

Congrats on all this exciting news! DH and I talked it over and I think we are okay with sticking with WL. So, since you changed resorts, I'll have to find another way to randomly bump into you and say hi! I think we may possibly be at Kona the same morning, Thursday? (If that's ok, don't want to be crazy Dis-stalker lady!)

And I definitely recommend the Wave for breakfast! We loved it!

LOL - no problem - I love doing Dismeets!!! Please say hello if you see me... Otherwise we can arrange to meet up too. :thumbsup2

So happy your November trip is a go! You'll have to take alot of pictures of the contemporary. We're just starting to narrow down resort choices for our anniversary trip next November. We want to do a split stay. 5 days at a value resort and 4 days at either a deluxe or moderate. Have you ever stayed in a royal room at Port orleans? They look fun!
Cooper is getting so big already! What a fluffball! Hope you and your family have a fabulous memorial weekend. :-)

I am super excited to try it out!!! You have no idea! The more I look and research, the more excited I get about it. It's going to be fun!!!

I have not stayed in a Royal Room at POR... I did have one booked for several months - but my aweome TA was able to get me back to FQ - so we jumped on that. I've heard great thing sabout them though.

I know - I cannot believe how big he is getting - he is almost half the size of MM already! And we can barely carry him around. He is super cute though!

I hope you had a great holiday weekend, as well!

I am really excited about it! I never even considered the CR before, it just seemed so....so....concrete-ish. But after researching a little more....and looking at menus......I am very excited about this!

Hahahahah.....actually.....I just switched both our Kona ADRs to The Wave! It looks so yummy for breakfast!

I Know... Me too - I am super, duper excited!!! I cannot wait!!!!

I'm very late on the pre trip report but I have enjoyed it so far! I think we were in Disney last year at the same time and we will be there again in November and October 2016! I will continue to read, I have a lot of catching up to do!

Welcome!!! Yes, I remember you... but your first name is slipping my mind. Yay!!! We definitely need to meet up!!! Especially if we have that many overlapping trips.

ok I like BLT because I can walk to MK. I will also admit we have been known to Walk to the MK bus stops and hop Busses to Beach Club to go to Epcot. I do not like the BLT Transportation which is shared with the contemporary. So glad your trip is a go.

OOoh - this is a great idea Chiara!!! You are always a wealth of information!! :woohoo: I am very excited about all of these trips!

Oh - I bet is was absolutely incredible!!! That would be sooo amazing! I can only hope to do that one day - even if it's only for a day or two... just to DO it - ya know?

Congrats on your November trip! :How awesome to be staying at the Comtemporary!!!

Hope you area doing well!

I am very excited about it... Like Suzi said - I've always overlooked it too, because it's seems so "concrete-ish", but the more I read, the more excited I get. I cannot wait to try it out! :woohoo:

**********************************************************************************

Sorry it's been a few days since I've checked in here... I've read along a little bit, but I haven't actually replied.

We had a nice relaxing, yet busy weekend. Most of it was filled with graduation festivities for Josh's cousin Matt (our hockey player)... he graduated from college this weekend, and because we've been so active in his life these last few years - we were invited to everything... We were honored and very proud of him!!!

11377330_10207137436263054_8389765223907534505_n.jpg

Dinner out - with the family - to celebrate Matt's graduation... (Why am I always in the back? :scratchin)

11337008_10207101765731186_5161191473783353228_o.jpg

We also babysat Josh's dad's dogs for the weekend... That was crazy - with 3 extra dogs here... my kitchen was full of kennels... They were good, but it was a bit crazy! A few pictures of puppies for you all - so you can see how big Coopie is getting...

11351223_10207133295919548_7132367293668420823_n.jpg

Cooper likes to sit on MM when they are playing... MM just tosses him off when he's sick of him. LOL ::yes::

11222456_10207154357926085_8399176591287372222_n.jpg

We also took the boys out to the wildlife refuge over the weekend, so they could run and play - they had so much fun!

11377243_10207123773361490_3877724004093856034_n.jpg

The girls, Gus and I even ventured out in the rain to have a day at Valley Fair... this time, it wasn't great. There were more people there - and it was definitely raining and wet...

I worked at Target yesterday... It was my last day until after I return from Maine. :woohoo:

Victoria is home with me today - she came down with a doozie of a cold yesterday.... So, she is sleeping on the couch.

I have a hair appointment later this evening... So, I can be all purty for my trip to see Suzi and Mo in 8 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo: Cannot wait - beyond belief - to see these girls... I can't believe it's been a year!!! I love these two more than words!

Disney quandry/update

Soooo... I've been researching and debating what to do... With 3 trips looming on the horizon - I've been weighing the option of doing an AP (just for me)... The cost of a regular AP - with taxes is just shy of $700.

But with all of the tickets I have to buy over the next year... It will likely be cheaper for me to do this...

Suzi and Mo's trip... 5 day with PH = $403.64
Allison's trip (military tickets) approx = $200
V's trip - unknown, but I will need tickets - so either of the above prices again.

The quandry... Those APs are EXPENSIVE!!!! And can I afford to spit out that much $$ before November? I guess - I don't have to get the AP off the bat, I can just get my regular tickets and upgrade when I get down there in Nov, right? I would just have to upgrade before we leave... ??? Anyone done this before? How does this work? I'd love some info and help on this.

Then, of course - we'd qualify for the TiW card and AP discounts in the shops... <--- Any info and help on this would also be great! So, there's that too. :scratchin

I just don't know what to do???? This is lots of bags... but it's less bags than if I had to buy all of the tickets seperately.

What would you do?

I hope you all had a nice holiday weekend!!!! Prayers and good thoughts go out to all of you!!! :grouphug:

This is exactly what I did in Feb 2014. I had a magic your way package that trip. On the last day of the trip I went to the Guest Services at HS and upgraded my ticket to an AP. I only had to pay the difference between the AP and my original ticket for the week. I'm pretty sure that as long as you do it before you exit the park on your last ticket day this will work. Also I had to go to an actual park to do the upgrade, couldn't do it at my resort. I'm not sure if that is still the case. If you do this though, you won't be able to use a TiW card the whole week because you can't buy it till you have the AP. This was not a problem for me that February because we were on the dining plan.

we'd qualify for the TiW card and AP discounts in the shops...

Yes you would qualify for the TiW card. It costs an additional $100 to buy the card but then you get a 20% discount on your table service meals including alcoholic beverages. There are some blackout days but I think they are all peak times and holidays so you may want to research that. I ended up buying my TiW card on my second trip in 2014. It's good for a year so even after the AP expired I was still able to use if for a couple of months. I did find that it worked well and I saved money even having to pay the $100 for the card. It's easy to do the math though if you have an idea which restaurants you might eat at and figure the discount, then compare to the $100 price.

The AP discount for the stores was very easy to use. When I bought the AP I got a plastic card that I just showed any time I purchased something and I got the discount. If you plan on using it for other people though, some CMs will not let you unless you make the actual purchase. I found that sometimes my Mom could use it and others they said no.

I think that answers all your questions, let me know if you have any more.

Sounds like you had a busy weekend.
Looks like the dogs enjoys each other.

I went to Sweden this weekend visiting some friends. It was a long dirve 808 miles in total. I had a good time, but it was still nice coming back home.

Hahahaha....."If you have an idea....." Heck yes we have an idea! I am the spreadsheet queen afterall! ;)
So, would this TIW discount come off the total bill, or just D's portion? Sorry, probably a dumb question, but when we are figuring things, I need to know what to save for.

She can use it on the bill if she pays. They won't let her use it on both bills if you guys split. Found that out when I went with my Mom last October. She had to pay me back at the end of the week. Of course that all depends on when D~ upgrades to the AP. She can't buy the TiW card until she is an AP holder. So if she upgrades the first day, she can buy the TiW card then and you guys can use it for the week.

I would upgrade once you get there. And I have to tell you, I will never go back to the dining plan again. I LOVE my TIW card. You get 20% off at most restaurants. You can use for up to ten people in your party...but you have to use your credit card or your cash to pay (the others can pay you after you pay; CM's have gotten fired for using someone else's credit card with another person's TIW). The 20% is also good on alcoholic beverages, etc.

I love Cooper laying on top of the other dog...so very sweet. :)

Pluto0809 seems to have answered your questions about AP/TiW...we got some great discounts last time I had an AP (of course that was like 10 years ago! )

I love the picture of the dogs in the sit stance on the deck...poor little Cooper...his butt looks like it just can't stay flat on the ground...Kaylee was like that...she would sit, but be so excited, her rear would just pop up off the ground so she could wiggle it more. LOL!

Lynn

Oh Cooper. Too cute!

We're you getting the dining plan on your first trip? If not then do the upgrade and buy the tiw card. Think of the $$ you'll save! .... that's what.... 1 ... at the most 2 extra bags to make????? You could whip them out in your sleep! :-)

Ok, another question.....can you use TIW at QS locations? We have mostly QS....

It is only good at the food courts at resorts that don't have a table service restaurant - so it is good at the value resorts and the food court at POFQ.

The TiW card is really nice to use because they add an 18% tip onto the bill, so when you get the check it already has the tip and they don't have to bring your check out a second time like they do when you have to add a tip. The TiW card also works at resort lounges.

It's also good at Flame Tree and Pizzafari at AK.

The AP will definitely be worth it with three trips coming up. :) The first time we had decided to get AP's we first bought the 6 day park hoppers so that I could make the fastpasses for those days. The trick to upgrading to an AP is to use your park tickets at least once, then go to guest relations and upgrade to the AP. You can also buy the TiW card as long as you go to a Guest Relations booth. They don't sell them at the Ticket booth. We upgraded our tickets on the way out of a park at night, when the lines at guest relations were short or non-existent.

image.jpg just checking in from the most magical place! I briefly read all the posts and will follow up once I get home. Tonight we came back early as someone is tired (it's not me! LOL). Tomorrow we are up bright and early. Here is s pic of us. Hope it appears.
Have a great day!!

Back again...and yeah sounds like the AP would definitely be the way to go for you! Sounds like it's pretty easy to to the upgrade there and that may be the best way to go. Our APs were purchased online with our DVC discount, so I've never done the upgrade.

So glad you got all your airfare done and things are falling into place. Seems so far away but I know it will be here before you know it!

We have always loved the Contemporary Resort so I think if you end up there it will be good. Not that Poly wouldn't be good as well, but the convenience of walking to MK from the Contemporary really is nice!

The furry kids are adorable.

I would get an AP.. The pros- here can teach you the ways! LOL!! they know everything!!!

the others can pay you after you pay; CM's have gotten fired for using someone else's credit card with another person's TIW).

Oh yes.. they are VERY strict on Discounts- the holder is the ONLY one who can pay.

Hope it appears.
Have a great day!!

It DID and you were able to hold the slipper!!! that's amazing!!
