~~ They're leaving the nest, sew it's time for a trip - or two - or three...~~ D~'s bag ~9/22 ~~

The rest of the bags are large enough, where the pattern placement isn't such a huge deal because there's enough room on the bag itself to have a good chunk of the pattern seen. If that makes sense? :scratchin
I know exactly what you mean. I feel it's like the same thing with the Disney Dooney's, especially the small ones. I have one already, a tote size one which I love, but I want to get something smaller, and will probably wait until I'm there in July, like you, to make sure I'm happy with the placement.
I will get an AP discount when I purchase the hipster this trip... I just hope that I am able to find one with good enough pattern placement - sometimes that's tricky.
That is great you get a discount though - any little bit helps! Also, do you have the Disney Parks Merchandise App? It seems very helpful as it tells your where any item is at any Disney world shop on property. Even without the app, you can look at each store when you are there next week and then if you find the hipster with the perfect placement, you can get it at that specific location?
I am also concerned that there isn't much of this pattern on the website, so I am hoping it isn't discontinued yet.
Like I said above, the app might do just the trick! Also, like I just said, there is a Dooney I want and it had been n the Disney Store website for a while, but when I checked the other day it wasn't there anywmore. I was afraid it was discontinued but when I checked the Disney Parks Merchandise App, it came right up.
I do highly recommend the VB products - once you buy them - it's rare that they need to be replaced... Unless you are like me and carry your Hipster day in and day out. LOL
They are so cute - eventually I plan on buying one!
because I am noticing that Allison is going extended lengths now without meds, and forgetting to take meds = also eating much chewier foods (bagels) without issue- which is a good sign.
That's great! She must be so relieved to eat actual food!
Out of the niceness of their hearts - they adjusted her schedule for her this week...
How wonderful that is. It is nice when you have a job that will do that for you. With everything going on with Allison, that must of taken a weight off of her shoulders.

I am so happy to hear Allison is doing better! What a relief!

DS has been in WDW for the past week and he's said pretty much what others have said about the weather - not too bad during the day but pretty chilly in the morning and after dark. During those times, you need at least a jacket - not a full blown winter coat, but for sure something besides a shirt. (We are from Colorado so we are use the cold too.)

I'm so glad Allison is feeling better!

I worked retail while I was going to school, then got out of it for a long time. Last year I decided to pick up a second job to help offset the cost of our vacation. I was excited as I love the store that I work at, but it quickly came back to me WHY I quit retail in the first place lol

I have friends down there this week and they've been wearing shorts and t-shirts during the day, and pants and hoodies at night. If you have room I would back a pair of jeans just in case.

Good luck! I know how hectic getting ready for vacation can be in itself, let alone having to prepare the for the ones staying behind as well!

Me too - it's such a relief... She is still doing Tylenol/Advil - but the doses are slowly spreading out.

Yah - retail is just blech. LOL I love the people I work with and that's really the only reason I stay.

This is good to know.... I am seriously going with the crop legging/tunic tee look.... I have a few long sleeved tunics, short sleeved tunics, and sweatshirt tunics... With a denim jacket or fleece jacket to go over the top - I hope I am good.

Yes - today is NUTS! LOL

Hi Dee - we just got back from WDW yesterday. The weather for the last three days was a high of around 64 and low of 44. Most of the time it was in the 50's and 60's. And most of the time it never got anywhere near the forecast high. Only one day did the high of 64 actually happen. Otherwise it was more often a high of 60. The vast majority of people wore jackets or fleece or sweatshirts all day. You almost never saw anyone in short sleeves or shorts. Most people wore long pants or capris. I was very happy to have gloves with me for the mornings and evenings. It was too cold to swim.

I wore my fleece jacket every day. The evenings were cold and I would throw my lightweight, thin rain jacket over the fleece to block the wind. But most of the day I just needed the fleece.

Even though it was cool, it was sunny and rain free. We didn't mind the cool weather at all because the sun felt good. :)

I think this will be great weather actually - definitely not the Frogg Togg temps of summer. I am a person that would rather be a little bundled up, my favorite "comfy" outfit is shorts/capris and sweatshirts - so I am thinking this is going to be the perfect weather for me? :scratchin

It looks like we will have a day or two of rain while we are there - kind of bummed about that, but we will just power through.

How was your trip otherwise?

Your friends must have been hardier than us. It was too cold for me to wear shorts. Saturday and Sunday before the cold front moved in were the only days warm enough for us to wear short sleeves.

Hehehe... I am curious about how "hardy" I am... :scratchin

We're pretty hearty up here in Buffalo lol BUT, I have heard that the cold down in Florida is different than it is up north. IDK why that is lol but its what I've come across here on the boards.

Hmmm... This is interesting. This is litterally my first trip to FL during our winter months - I've been at every other time of year.

We live in the Chicago area.

It's not so much the temperature in WDW it's the fact that you're outside for most of the day. I like to be warm but there are always people who wear shorts.

Dee - you will probably be fine in your capris most of the time.

If you want to get a real feel for the weather then check today's weather several times throughout the day. The high today is supposed to be 70. It is 52 there right now. Check the weather around 1 pm and it will probably only be 64.

I've been checking the weather now, quite frequently... It's going to be an interesting week. I think I have a pretty big variety packed though... Just not a winter coat, I just don't have the space...

I'm glad Allison's doing better. It was so nice of her work to adjust her schedule for her. Walmart would never do that unless there was what they considered a real emergency.
Today and tomorrow I have short shifts which I wouldn't might but they're both evening ones and I usually work days, now. Yesterday was one of my days off and I stayed home all day. We had a snow storm over night and the road in front of my house didn't get plowed until after 2 pm. Our town is only 1 square mile with only one main road so I don't know what was going on. Schools were closed so the buses didn't have to go down the streets. Maybe that's why it was done so late. Today I have to go to the grocery store since I'n almost out of a lot of stuff.
I can't believe it's almost time for your trip. Shades of Green looks like a really nice resort and saving money is always good.
I have the same Disney crossbody you do and a matching wallet in the Vera pattern. It's one of my favorites. I've been doing really good at not buying any new Vera until the sale in April. I do need a new grand traveler. I put my sewing maching in the one I have. It makes a good sewing machine case.
Have a good day.
Liz

Hi Liz! I agree - Target wouldn't either - I'd have to be on my death bed.

Sounds like life has been crazy.... We are often "snowed in" during the winter... Whenever I hear of a bigger storm coming - I always stock up... There have been several times where the highway in front of our house is closed, so there is no going anywhere... It drifts so deep that they have to bring in one of those GIANT snow blowers to clear a path for the plows to plow... I've seen drifts as high as the telephone poles in a matter of hours, because of the hills.

Yup - I am getting the Grand Traveler too... I was going to get the Weekender, because that's what I have in the Night Owl pattern, and it's the perfect size... but a few years ago - they made the Weekender smaller - so the Grand Traveler is more the size of the old Weekender. ::yes:: But I do think that is the last piece I need to complete the set I want... Once I get that bag - I will have the perfect "week at the lake" set, and that will be nice.

You too! Thank you!

Wear pants on the plane that can do go with most themes, then if you need pants just wear those. I had to do that one chrismas trip. It was colder than I thought so wound up wearing the pants almost all week. It was good we were in a villa with a washer dryer than FIL's house.

Well, when I unroll my capris - they are pants on me, does that count? :scratchin LOL Short girl problems. ::yes::

I can.. and i was laughing right with you.

I totally wish i could too!!! but it's O'Hare!!!! The other side of creation!!! could have done lunch!

I spoke with a friend of mine yesterday (the one who moved there) and she said it's in the 40's adn was complaining to me.. SERIOUSLY i pretty much told her to ummm. yeah i am sure you know what i told her.
I think you will be fine in your Capris.. yet i would bring leggings? ya know something thin you can put in your over stuffed luggage.
Don't forget to say Hi to my favorite CM's! Haley and Larry!

Hahahaha.... Yup - 40's is pure bliss right now. For that matter, our "cold snap" is over and we've been in the 20s for the last 2 days... Guess who ditched her coat? LOL

Yah - um... You should see my luggage... It's gonna burst!

OK - remind me where Haley and Larry work...

I'm so glad Allison is doing so much better! That's wonderful news. And so wonderful that her employer was compassionate and adjusted her hours. Yea!

Me too - it's such a relief!

Can you believe it? I didn't think that any such thing existed in retail... I now have a new respect for her employer.

I'm doing the "Guns, Buns and Abs Challenge" I have to say that even being out of shape I'm amazed how well I'm doing (week 2). I recommend it. Even being sick this week I've kept up with it even though I haven't felt well enough for cardio.

Let me know what you came up with and what worked. There just could be a trip for birthdays in May that I'm trying to work out! :bday:

That is an amazing rate! I've not seen any rate at SoG that low, but I also don't check all the time. Congrats. We are also in Cat 3, so while it's still a bargain, it's still their highest rate. No complaints from me, though since I like that they structure it to pay grades.

I have to tell you that you just cost me some $$! I have needed new make-up brushes and jumped on that deal you mentioned. They just arrived. Now I have to go google applying foundation with a brush because I've never done that, but I bet it's an improvement over my slap-dash methods. Never really had anyone to teach me how, and being a bit of a tomboy, it never was a focus of mine.

One more request if you remember (since I know you are busy and will be enjoying the wonders of WDW). Which ticket did you buy for Allison? I'm looking at SoG options and it seems like the Stars and Stripes ticket is a better deal than getting two back to back Salute tickets. Let me know your thoughts and if you did something other than Salute. I'm trying to figure out if all their tickets come with codes to attach to DME so we can book FP+ at 60 days (we are thinking of split with WDW then SoG so we could book at 60 for several days).

Enjoy your trip! So glad Allison is doing better. Great sign that she isn't needing pain meds--she's on the mend!!

That's awesome!!! Great for you!

I will - I will say, I plan to make full use of the bell hops and the shady shuttle. LOL I am thinking that I will take the Shades buses in the mornings, then we will end up walking back to the resort from the Poly most of the time. But to be honest - I do plan on checking out the Shady bus lines when we come out of the parks... The way our buses were at AKL - I think we may be better off trying to use SoG transportation, if we can. :scratchin It was sooooo bad in November with Disney transportation.... Not sure it's worth it?

I do apologize on my rate - I misquoted myself - I've had so many numbers running through my head, so when I pulled up my resort email confirmation yesterday, I realized my rate is actually $79/night... Which is still a great rate, just not as great as I thought. ::yes:: If I remember correctly - it was 40% off. ::yes::

Eeep!!!! I am so excited that you took my recommendation and purchased the brushes. Did you get the F80 too? You need to YouTube Lauren Curtis (I think?) - Allison told me about her, so I went and looked her up and she has some great make-up tutorials out there. I haven't watched any recently - but when I was first learning, I watched many of her's and it was very helpful!

Can you post a list of everything you want me to check when I am there? I know there are a few things you've mentioned over the last week +, and I just want to make sure I have them all in one place. :lovestruc And remember them all.

Thank you - we are very excited!

Soo so glad Allison is doing much better. That was so nice of her job! Not a lot of places are that understanding (I've been in the retail field too, as well as having had worked at a Target). Poor girlie will be ready for a vacation by next week!

Me too - it's such a relief. She is still on meds, but she is doing much better. I know - I couldn't believe it! Oh yes, she is definitely ready for vacation!

Just in case you forget about the question to ask Marie or Mickey Mouse about Figment. I would recommend writing the question on a piece of paper. Even better try visiting the Imagination Pavilion and find a Figment plush and then you can show the plush to Mickey at the Magic Kingdom who can talk to guests and Marie who is also seen at MK. I hope it won't be rainy during those days though.

I will try, thanks for the reminder. :D

How wonderful that is. It is nice when you have a job that will do that for you. With everything going on with Allison, that must of taken a weight off of her shoulders.

Yes - the Disney Dooneys are much the same way, I think pattern placement on those is even more important, because they are even more expensive. LOL If I were to ever buy one, I would want to make sure it was absolute perfection! ::yes::

I do have the app - and I agree, it's been a lifesaver a few times. As of when I was there in Nov, they carried my pattern in several stores, and the selection was actually much better in Nov 15, than it was in Aug 14...

I am glad you were able to find it on the parks app... Otherwise I was going to offer to look for you. :lovestruc

She is very happy to be able to eat a few more solid items - she is still being cautious most of the time, but to be honest, she is sick of soft foods. ::yes::

It has been such a relief... This week has been very stressful on her - we are very much looking forward to getting away!

I am so happy to hear Allison is doing better! What a relief!

This is good to know - I think we will be OK during the day - I hope.

**************************************************************************************

Well, yesterday was pretty low key for me, considering we are in the final push before our trip.

I worked out in the morning, and then I was a bum all day. I gathered a few more things to pack and took a few things out... Made a few more lists...

Met Josh in town - did some car swapping - and went to my appointment.

After - we went out for dinner, that was nice. Sadly, we had pizza... I was planning to do pizza tonight - so now I have no idea what I am doing tonight? :scratchin Probably burgers from the bar/restaurant down the street?

Today... Yah - it's craziness!

I have so much to do - I have lists everywhere and just a lot going on. Most of which has nothing to do with trip stuff. Sigh.

Errands, grocery shopping, cleaning out my car, taking the topper off of the tree... I was waiting for Josh to take the lights off - but he informed me last night that i have to take the topper off first.... Yah - we still have our undecorated tree up.

Ooooh - one fun thing - Allison and I are getting our Disney nails done after she gets off of school.... :woohoo: So we are excited about that!

That's about it for today....

We are counting down the hours until we leave, and we couldn't be any more excited!!! :woohoo:

I hope you all have a wonderful day!!! :lovestruc

D~

Yea -- the final few days before the trip! Those are always crazy days for me, but so much fun because I'm always so excited about our trips. Have fun getting your nails done! My younger daughter loves to do nail art so she did our nails for our trip last fall and they were so cute and so much fun. We've had our toes done "Disney style" for our trips before but this was the first time we did Disney fingernails and it was so much fun.

I'm so glad you hear Allison is doing so well. How great that her job reduced the working hours this week to help her out. Sounds like a nice place to work.

Sounds like you are ready for the trip. I can't wait to hear all about it when you come back.

My cat Esmeralda has had some wounds that won't heal as they should. Earlier this week I noticed that it looked liked these wounds had spread. So then I start thinking that it wasn't wounds but some kind of small bugs. So yesterday I went to the vet with her. Luckily it wasn't any bugs but wounds that won't heal. So I got cortisone tablets that I have to give her the next 3 weeks and I have to try and give her a bath once a week. Yesterday I struggled giving her the tablet and she started to froth around her mouth. I took it as a sign of stress because that's what happens when cats get stressed. Today I gave her a new tablet. This time it was a little easier, but she froth around her mouth again. So I called the vet. The vet didn't have the time to talk to me, but is calling me back. So now I'm waiting for the vet to call to hear what this can be and if I should stop giving her the tablets.

Yah - we still have our undecorated tree up.

Don't feel bad. We haven't taken down any decorations yet. That's our project for Sunday since DH is off that day.

I can't wait to see your nails!! I bet they will be beautimus!

So glad to hear Allison is doing so much better! So nice that her employer was willing to help her out. It is rare that you find an employer/boss who will see the need to put schooling/health as a priority instead of the $$$ they are spending on you as an employee.

Well, when I unroll my capris - they are pants on me, does that count? :scratchin LOL Short girl problems. ::yes::

I am a capri/flip flop gal till the snow flies as well.

When I went in December last year, this was actually what I did. I packed Jeans that looked OK as rolled up Capri's.... during the day when it was warmer, I would roll them up, and then early mornings/evenings when it was chilly, I would roll them down. I also got Adidas sandals as well rather than flip flops and when it was colder, pulled out a pair of socks (matching of coarse)to wear with my sandals (yes, I am one of those socks with sandals people, but only with my Adidas sandals.... lol) I used to be able to handle being cold, but as I get older, being cold hurts. Being out for hours in the cold without being prepared would have ruined my trip. As intolerant as I am to cold, I never needed more than a hooded sweatshirt. Not taking a winter coat, I think you will be just fine!

Can you post a list of everything you want me to check when I am there?

Thanks! I'll send you a PM so it's easier to find, but if you are too busy enjoying the World, I will totally understand if you forget!!! Heck, on my last trip I forgot to do things that were on my own list!

Sure hope Allison's recovered enough to enjoy all the good eats you have planned!!!

Eeep!!!! I am so excited that you took my recommendation and purchased the brushes. Did you get the F80 too?

Yes, to both. I'm looking forward to learning how to use them!

Can't wait to see your nails. Tell everyone i said Hi and HUGS!

Ok... I will try.

Oooh yes... I have nail pictures... I'll post them below...

Yes, she is doing so much better... Eating most softer normal foods now, and her holes are almost healed.

I hope Esmeralda is doing better today. :lovestruc

Oh good. Lol. I feel better knowing i am not the only one. ;)

I'll post a photo below... I went with my standard Minnie dot. :)

I know, thank you, it is such a relief.

Well, i guess i am going to find out, lol. Hopefully it isn't too bad?

Alright good luck with my advice for Marie and Mickey.

Thanks. :)

Perfect! Thanks! :)

Allison is doing so much better now. Eating most normal softer foods, like hamburgers, bagels... It's such a relief!

******************************************************************

Good morning all!

If you haven't guessed yet, Allison and I are on our way to Disney! :woohoo:

I did get my nails done yesterday, sadly I had to put acrylics on, as my nails were so dry/cracked/split. I haven't had acrylics in well over a decade, so it's taking some getting used to. As usual, my nail guy did a fabulous job with them.

Cancel that... Photobucket not cooperating today. :(

Allison and I had to wake up at 12:30am this morning for our 5am flight.

I'll check in while on our trip, but likely won't have time for replies.

Wishing you all the best. :lovestruc

D~

You had to get up at 12.30am  If I had to get up that early I think I wouldn't go to bed at all since I usually got to bed around that time. I hope you are able to get some sleep on the plane.

Have a great trip

The vet called and said that the froth around her mouth wasn't a allergic reaction. The vet thinks it's probably an reaction to the taste of the tablet. The vet told me that an alternative is to give her the medicine as a spray on her skin. But then you might not get the medicine where it has to be because you can't see all the places that need it. We agreed that I will try to give Esmeralda the tablet this weekend and switch to the spray on Monday if needed.

Yesterday Esmeralda got a bath with a shampoo that the vet recommended to relieve the itching. She hasn't had a bath for 6 years so she isn't used to it, but it went very well. She made a lot of noise but didn't attempt to get away. So I think it went well.

I gave her the medication again today and this time it went down with out any froth around her mouth. I'm hoping this continues so I can complete the treatment.

Great picture on fb! Loved to see that you were wearing shorts. Really cold here today -14° and the wind chill is -29°!
