They'd Better Get Ready on the East Coast!! May 2009 **TR started on TR boards!!**

Ooh! I can't wait to see pictures of the festivities, it's sounds like so much fun! I am just cleaning and :laundy: today! Yuck! I'm dealing with a tornado of my own....her name is Emily!! I can't keep anything clean around here with all of these toys!:rotfl:

I hear you about the cleaning. I've got family coming over saturday and sunday and my house is a mess. It's beautiful outside and I'd so much rather be there than stuck inside sorting, tidying and cleaning. I know it will be worth is tomorrow when I'm enjoying our visitors and my house is back to normal. Okay my breaks over, back at it I go.

Hope you scored lots of eggs in the hunt.

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing.

Hi there! Welcome!:grouphug:

Hooray for a nice day! :goodvibes Today is seemingly better than yesterday here. We had a tornado last night and I was only a few streets away at Wal-Mart trying to get home! :scared1: From the insane wind and hail I was :scared: so scared! I hope this weekend will be nice...

Your big gathering sounds like so much fun!! :cutie: Please do take lots of pics to share with your DIS friends!

Oh my gosh.:scared1: I'm so glad you're okay! I am terrified of tornadoes (only from seeing them in the movies really, I've never experienced one) and that sounds just awful! I hope the weather gets better for you!

Ahh... Hurricane Emily?:rotfl: Hope your cleaning day went well.:goodvibes :laundy:

Isn't it nice to see the weather warming up?:cheer2: Unfortunately I did not get to participate in the egg hunt this year... too old. But I did still get to eat lots of chocolate!!

Okay, as promised here is the big Easter update!

First of all, we had a lot of fun yesterday at the Good Friday get together and I did get a few good pictures to share! Some highlights:

After a bit of eating, we headed right to the park for the main event. The water balloon and egg toss! I partnered up with my dad for this. Yes, for the opening ceremonies we did have bagpipes! A number of people in my family play and we were getting quite a few looks once we got to the park and there was a herd of people armed with eggs and balloons led by a bagpiper. Gotta love family traditions! If you hadn't yet guessed, yes we are Scottish.:rotfl:

Once we got to the park, everyone dispersed and lined up... it was egg toss time! For those of you who've never done an egg toss, it's basically throwing an egg back and forth. After every round, you take a step back. The last partners to break their eggs win! Of course, people are often covered with egg while trying to catch theirs. It gets pretty competitive! My dad and I made it pretty far but... this what was eventually became of my egg:

And this is the kind of expression you can capture when doing an egg toss with a toddler.:lovestruc

Next comes the water balloons:

And then it's back to the house for family time!

It's always a great start to the Easter weekend!

And finally, for good measure...

I've even got some Disney updates!!

First of all I'm calling today to book our photo session at the Beach Club for May 9. I'm thinking we'll book it for around noon or so, that way we can hit a park in the morning, then be back at the BC for lunch and then hang out until our Magical Express pick up time.

Secondly, I've been doing some more planning for our June trip and here's how it's shaping up so far:

June 13: Arrive in Orlando, pick up rental car, get some groceries, check in at CBR, hang out at the resort (our flight get in at 6:30) and then early to bed!

June 14: Conference during the day. Then in the evening I'm going to come back to the resort by 5:00pm while my dad will stay at the conference for some fancy schmancy reception. I'm planning on hitting the Magic Kingdom solo!! I'm so excited!:woohoo: Then we'll meet back at the room around 11 or midnight.

June 15: Conference all day. CBR pool and dinner in the evening.

June 16: Conference stuff until 1:00 then... back to CBR, change, hit a park at night! I haven't decided which one yet...

June 17: Epcot during the day, Disney's Hollywood Studios Extra Magic Hours

June 18: Animal Kingdom during the day, Epcot EMH

June 19: Magic Kingdom morning- mid afternoon, back to CBR for Magical Express pick up!

I chatted with my dad last night and he chose Coral Reef as his ADR so I'm going to try and book it for lunch on the 17th. I'm still not sure what I'm going to pick for my ADR. I'm thinking I'll plan the park on the 16th based on where I want to eat.

I am getting SO SO SO excited for both trips!!!

ONLY 19 MORE DAYS!!!:scared1:

Great update! Looks like a fun filled day of activities and family time...gotta love that! Sorry you didn't win the egg toss, but at least you weren't covered in it either!!:rotfl:Let me know how the photo session ressie goes! I'm calling on Monday!

Your June plans look great! It'll be fun to experience MK solo!

Your family gathering looks like a lot of fun. We used to do egg tosses at our family summer gathering. For years and years I would pair with one of my uncles, we were so serious about winning (which we did win, many years in a row) that my uncle would take off his wedding band to make sure it didn't crack the egg!

Good plans on the June trip! I can't believe it's only 19 days! :scared1:

Gah, I still haven't called for the photo session yet! When I did try to call, a CM in dining reservations tried to transfer me... then after waiting almost an hour on hold it turns out she transferred me to the wrong line. So I got discouraged and decided to try again another time.

I am actually SO excited to experience MK solo! I was toying with the idea of doing a TS meal on my own but... I don't know if I want to use up park time or not. Since it's a shorter trip and we already have 2 TS meals booked I don't know if it'd be overkill.

Ahh so you know the ring secret!:rotfl:

Now it's 18 days!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: I'm so excited and I swear I think about Disney 24 hours a day.:laughing:The rest of my family is making fun of me because no matter where I am, my yellow Pooh planning journal isn't far from reach LOL.

I do have one small update! And it's a happy one!:goodvibes

I booked breakfast at the Crystal Palace for 8:05 on June 19, our last day! It's something I've always wanted to do and I am so excited to be able to walk down an empty Main Street. It's going to be a challenge to get up that early (yikes!) but I am so thrilled that we were able to get such an early seating at such late notice. Woohoo!:cheer2:

One more quick update!

Just called Disney's PhotoPass service and booked our photo session for May 9!:cool1::cool1::cool1: We're doing it at the Beach Club this time. I'm really looking forward to it, our photo session in December turned out really nicely. Everything is falling into place!:wizard:

I love the crystal palace! But their desert island pales in comparison to the feast you had going on good friday!

Mmmm I LOVE the Crystal Palace dessert bar. I have an unhealthy obsession with their bread pudding. Well, any bread pudding, actually!:rotfl:

I got a ressie today for the Garden View Tea at the GF. We're doing it on the 4th, so we'll sleep in a little, wander the MK, have our tea, do some more MK then have our dinner at Spoodles and EMH at Hollywood Studios!:goodvibes

Here are some pictures from previous visits. I highly recommend the tea!!!

I don't drink tea, but I might have to go just for the strawberries and cream! YUMMMMMM!

Aw, it looks like you and your family had a wonderful Easter weekend! The bagpipes are the best part of the whole thing. I would've loved to see what kind of reactions you all got. I just love family traditions -- they definitely make the holidays that much better!

I can't believe your first trip is just two and half weeks away!!! Where has the time went?? I hope you all have a wonderful time!!!! :goodvibes:goodvibes

When DD gets older, I plan to do this with her - since she loves playing pretend tea already! I think she would enjoy it! The pics looks great!

That looks SO SO yummy!!! I used to go to a mother/daughter retreat with my mom every year when I was growing up. We had a mother/daughter tea on Saturday afternoon. I loved it. I'll definitely tell her about this for the next time we go together!!

Whoa, the tea thing at the GF looks amazing! I never really knew much about it.

Oh the tea looks so amazing! :yay:

It really is!:goodvibes I'm so glad I was able to get a booking at the last minute.

Our family is big on bagpipes! It's funny because the Danforth area of Toronto is very Greek, so I'm sure the bagpipes were slightly... unexpected. :rotfl:

And I know! Time is passing by too quickly!

The tea is really lovely. There are a lot of young girls there with their mothers.:goodvibes I bet your daughter would love it!:lovestruc

I would love to go on a mother/daughter retreat! That would be so much fun.:goodvibes Although neither my mom or I are really the outdoorsy type LOL. That's so cute you had a mother daughter tea this Saturday though! What did you do?

It is! And it really isn't very expensive either (for being @ the GF). The menu is on allears.net but I don't think it gets talked about enough, it's really nice!:thumbsup2
