We were at WDW 5/1-5/7 last week, and we spent the whole week looking for the perfect shirt for DS2... We FINALLY found one at the Test Track gift shop at Epcot... On the mannequin. He would need a youth XS and the only one in the shop was on the freaking mannequin, and they refused to undress it to sell us the shirt! We were ALL upset. Even management told us they were not permitted. It was our last day in the parks when we found it, so we couldn't check back. It was only available in this ONE store and DS is still telling me to go back and buy him the Mickey car shirt.

I understand their refusing to break the magic, but we refused to buy anything in there. Sadly, i cannot find this shirt ANYWHERE online. Makes me very sad. :(

I would try emailing WDW. If you go to the "contact us" page and email them one of the subjects you can choose is "merchandise" last time I was able to get a coffee mug that cracked in transit by speaking with them. I wonder if you emailed them an explained the situation they could help.... Do you have a picture of it to reference for them if needed?

Still a bummer that they could not locate one for you!

I considered trying that. We ended up getting our TS credits back from a bad meal that way.. And I can find photos of it online, just not to purchase

Have you tried calling the merchendise line? I know other posters have had success with that.

Do this, OP. the number is (877) 560-6477. Have as detailed a description as possible at the ready and they will do their best to help you.

Hope it works out for you. I called the merchandise line in February to buy items that we didn't buy during our trip last August. They were very helpful and were able to find us the exact items. Good luck!

They didn't have a Small that he could grow into (and therefore wear longer)? We tend to buy either more than one size shirt for DS or buy the next size up. He doesn't mind a droopy shirt for awhile so that he can wear the shirt longer.

I've heard that often times the clothing on the mannequins are damaged merchandise.

Merchandise at Disney can be so frustrating. I just spent time today looking for a Space Mountain shirt for my 8 year old granddaughter. They had small shirts and XXL shirts. That was better than Rockin' Roller coaster, which had NO kids shirts at all. Missing a market, here, Disney!

I know when I worked at this one store, we got clothes to be in the window and they weren't part of our inventory so we weren't able to sell them. People got upset all the time but nothing we could do.

THIS! :thumbsup2

The mannequins and displays are not set up with actual merchandise, it comes from the Merch Presentation team. Other equally frustrating things is when the mannequins are dressed with accessories not sold in the actual shop. We would get really good and knowing... this bracelet is at this store, the hat is at this store, etc. Then they would change it over night and we'd have to start all over.

Just like when I walk thru Home Depot and there are a ton of DNI (do not inventory) slips on all the displays once or twice a year.

Worse is merchandise no longer sold but part of the decoration. In the Xmas store in DTD there were white Mickey ornaments on trees all over the place. As you ask the CMs you can see the "Why don't they take them down so I don't have to answer this question a 100 times a day" look. :goodvibes

I would have asked them to order one and ship it to me. I don't thinks this warrants a complaint.

You would not believe the number of hours of vacation time I have wasted trying to search out the size I need of a much loved shirt or a special holiday item that can't be located anywhere.

What's very frustrating is when you spend $60+ on a special event ticket and want an exclusive shirt, but can't get one because they never have your size that evening.

I will say that I learned many years ago that many of these items are also available at Disneyland and I have in fact called them and found the items I want. They have a different Merchandise Mail phone number.

You can call the Disney World Merchandising number and ask them for the Disneyland phone number.

Nope. They only had med-xl but he really wears a size 3, the xs would really have been too big, but small enough to tuck/roll

Hoping they email me back soon!

I know where I work that sometimes the merchandise on the mannequins is damaged, so we cannot sell it. Sometimes if it is close enough to the lights for long enough it becomes too fragile to sell, the heat from the light ruins the fabric.

Don't really understand why this was such a big deal :confused3

CM's have rules they have to follow, whether they make sense to you & I or not. Don't you think they would have loved to have just given you the shirt instead of it escalating to a manager? Try to put yourself in their position.

On more than one occasion we have ended up taking a photo of the item AND price tag (so we have the sku number & bar code) & ordering from Merchandise Mail Order when we get home. Easy peasy.
