Going in Feb 2018. Renting though a company, had every option available and my kids picked BWV again for the 3rd time. I really wanted to try BC or GF.... should I try and convince them to try something different or stick with what they want??

We prefer BWV over BCV for room location and overall enjoyability, would like to stay at GF and have been looking for openings.

My parents always let me pick the place when we were traveling - until there was someplace else they wanted to stay. ;)

Just wondering how old your kids are and why they love BW so much? I am trying to decide what to buy and was pretty set on akv or bay lake, now on to BW.. someone mentioned that I have a son and star wars at HS will be so close etc.. so I am now researching BW! I showed my son BW on you tube and he was not impressed by that, thinks he will love AKV... maybe I didnt show him the right stuff...

This happens in our family also. I book BWV and ask if people might want to try switching at 7 months. Nope. The young kids seem to love the night time Boardwalk entertainment. The tweens like to be able to hang out on the Boardwalk with adults just watching from the balcony. And the adults like the walk to 2 parks. I did get them to try BLT and AKV but they still wanted to go back to BWV.

We are soon to be BLT owners (yay!) but are considering a 2nd contract in the EP/HS area later on, and this is all because our very first stay ever in a DVC property was a cash reservation at BWV in 2015. The staff was super nice, the location was perfect, there are so many activities in the BW area that don't even involve going to a park, yet you're within walking distance of 2 parks! We are renting points and staying at BCV this summer to see how we and the kids like Stormalong Bay, but our 3.5 year old and the adults in our group enjoyed just getting to play on the grounds and the BW and enjoying the restaurants in the area. The only reason we didn't buy in the EP area first was because our kids are still young and we have many years of strollers and walking to MK ahead of us, the earlier contract expiration date, and BLT's lower annual fees.

(It didn't hurt that Disney pixie dusted us from a standard studio to a pool view 1BR)

If they had ever spent time at SAB they might change their minds!! We love BCV. I would say it's OUR turn to pick and just veto them this time. They can always go over to the Boardwalk to hang out if that's why they want BWV.....JM2C.

I don't know your family dynamics, so I can't comment whether you should convince them. The power of choice still seems to be left with them regardless. I'll say from my own experience with younger age groups (I don't know how old your children are) that sometimes they need to have the experience to know if they like it. For example, if I knew I was going to come back to WDW, then I would try something new, whether it's dining, lodging, transportation mode and so on to give an opportunity of growth and learning about making assumptive decisions. Afterwards, we can have conversations based on our experience rather than our assumptions about what worked well, what we liked, and what we wouldn't want to repeat.

You had mentioned you liked BC. It seems to be very close to BWV, has remarkable activities/pool area for kids, and it would be easy to see/walk to BWV as a familiar place. I don't know if your family has sensitivities that require deferral to your children's choices. You know your dynamics and if convincing, conceding or trying something new would be acceptable. I hope you and your family have a lovely time wherever you end up staying!

This is how I would convince my kids: "We are staying where I want to stay. If you want to pay for it, you can choose our hotel. If you want to complain, we don't go at all."

My kids would get over it quickly. You're choosing another beautiful resort. It's not like you're making them stay in a dump.

My kids are 9 and 11. We are booked for Feb 19-24 but decided to extend it from Friday the 16-24th. My kids don't rule the roost here but I value their opinion. They love the clown slide and being able to walk to 2 parks. Now I have 3 extra nights where I can pick a place. I might even change the first night at BWV to where I choose and do an even 4 night/ 4 night stay :) Now, I will contemplate GF or Poly or Coronado Springs :)

Ok unless ur kids will make your life miserable.... change.
Wdw had so many amazing resorts it's almost a crime to not try the others.
How late me are u going and what type of room?
