We got a letter today regarding 2009 North American Sweepstakes Lottery and a very real looking check for $3,950.00! Great, we won a lottery! The check is to pay the taxes for the winnings of $125,000USD! Of course, we never entered this lottery, but all they want is for me to deposit the check, call someone and they will instruct me how to Money gram or Western Union the tax money to me...sounds great?
Of course we all have gotten something like this as an email, but to send this through the regular mail - well, it just seems like it will be a lot easier to trace. Anyway, I don't know if they can catch these crooks, but I will be taking the letter and check to my post office tomorrow to see if they want to do something about it. It's sad to think that there are people that will get suckered into this, it all looks very official!
I have a phone number for the contact if anyone wants to call this crook and harass him...
