Awww bummer Jo about the post!

I hope MCat will feel better soon. Braces - ouch!

Today is my mom's birthday - going up tonight to see her. Saw her yesterday for a few minutes - they are making her get up and take walks and sit in a chair. Tough recovery - I don't know how long she will be in the hospital.

Went to DL yesterday afternoon and night - felt totally guilty about it. Our caretaker called us and offered to take care of my MIL for us yesterday after church and spend the night. Such a sweetheart, she just wanted us to get away for a couple of hours. We saw our friends from Texas who "just happened" to show up - had a great time with them - they are driving back home today and then going to Orlando to spend 10 days at WDW starting this Friday.

Sea

Hey everyone!

MCat got her braces on this morning- she is now snoozing on the couch.
Poor baby.

I had another installment all typed out --with tons of pics-- and I LOST IT.

I'm so sad.

So off I go to do it again.

I have to get as much done as I can. I leave Sunday for Charleston.:lovestruc

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Sea-- how's your Mom today-- how much longer will she be in the hospital?

Disneyland Saturday morning, continued...

So there I stand, getting ready to leave reality behind and all I could do was stand there and cry. Tourists in Mickey Mouse ears and Princesses with cute shoes and tiaras are all streaming around me and I'm balling like a baby.

Mark is astounded. He's looking at me, trying to "fix" whatever is wrong, as usual... and this time, he's unable to.
There's nothing at all that's wrong. As a matter of fact, everything is completely and totally right.

I have been going to WDW all of my life, the first trip being when I was two --- you all have heard about that experience a number of times. I don't remember a time in my life where Disney hasn't been a part of me.
However, I have always told Mark that I would love to be able to experience Disneyworld as an adult, for the first time. To catalouge the experience and rememeber the feeling and all that jazz.

My moment had come, and I was over whelmed.

Mark took my hand, and thru the tunnel we go.

And I am assaulted with sights that are somehow so familiar to me, and yet so strange and foreign at the same time.

Thru the tears I somehow rememeber to snap as many pics as I can. And so, in order, here are my shots as I walk on the left hand side, closest to the Fire station --

This trolley came out from the side-- in WDW that would be where Spectro originates from, next to the Barber shop-
DSC03397.jpg

and so now I'm standing in front of the Firestation, where Walt's apartment was. I had seen the Travel Channel documentaries about how Walt always had his lamp on when he was in the Park, and now, how they keep the lamp lit to signify Walt's presence in the park.

DSC03398.jpg

I cried harder. Mark didn't understand and so I had to explain it to him. He took the camera from me, took my hand and said "I thought a trip here would make you happy, you aren't happy?" ANd I said "I'm so happy I can't stand it. Really, I'm not crying sad tears. I thought I'd never ever come here. " He hugged me -- and said "I'm glad you're not sad. Ready to see your castle?":lovestruc

So we continued on towards the castle.

DSC03399.jpg

My first glimpse...
Oh my gosh-- it's so, so......... CUTE!!!!!:lovestruc
DSC03400.jpg

It's not the same as Cinderella's castle. It's cute and itty bitty. Like a dollhouse.

More Main Street-

ANd finally, I stand in front of the castle, taking in the sights, living the moment I never truly thought I'd be in.

DSC03408.jpg

I stand there in amazement. Mark is waiting patiently for my moment to pass and the tears to dry.

He gently asks if I want to continue on, and I nod yes.

On to Adventureland.

Sea -

You should not feel guilty about going to DL yesterday.

If you do not take care of your mental health by having some happy moments during this time, then it will be you in the hospital everyone is visiting.

Do not beat yourself up, take some time for yourself. You have a lot on you and need some time to decompress.

You've been dealing with a lot for awhile now.

You needed some peace, and I'm glad you were able to enjoy it for a bit.

Thank God for friends and people who are there to help you.

Happy Birthday to your Dear Mom.

Continued-- on to ADVENTURELAND!

We decided in a split second that since we were totally clueless about the park, we would take the morning and just walk the park, getting a look at it instead of running from ride to ride. We had not a clue what we were doing anyway, and it was really kind of fun to go with the flow and not be rushed into a schedule of "we have to get this FP, we have to hurry to Fantasyland, let's get onto Space."
When we are in WDW we are totally commando so this was a nice change of pace.

It paid off, b/c the feeling I had felt standing in front of the castle stayed with us....... for a little while, at least.

The entance into Adventureland is totally cool. It has real tiki torches with huge flames burning. Really makes you feel like you're going to another land, in a funky 70's vibe sort of way. Kind of 'Greg and Marsha and the rest of the Brady's go to Hawaii' feeling. Nice touches abound in DL. It is a uniquely quaint and very detailed park.

As soon as you enter Adventureland, you see the Enchanted Tiki Room, complete with a Dole Whip stand out front.

Passing on thru. The Moroccan looking building is where Aladdin and Jasmine greet guests-
DSC03417.jpg

Continuing on ---
This part of the park has a similar feeling to Animal Kingdom with the shops and such.
DSC03420.jpg

DSC03422.jpg

And as we moved on, the first real ride we got to was Indiana Jones.
DSC03423.jpg

We talked about it for a moment and decided to get a FP for later to use. I wasn't sure, but wanted to try to use it later on.

Continued on our journey--
looking backwards towards the entrance of Adventureland... the way we'd just come from--
DSC03424.jpg

The Jungle Cruise-- it's a really cute entrance.
DSC03425.jpg

DSC03426.jpg

saw Tarzan's treehouse--
DSC03427.jpg

The pink-ish building behind the treehouse is the building POTC is in.
DSC03428.jpg

The park is really small. It was amazing to me how quickly you could jump from place to place and see everything in a short amount of time.

continuing on towards New Orleans Square-- took a right, right after the treehouse and see this--

And finally- the same building as before- the home of POTC-

Up next-- New Orleans Square, and.... did Jo see Club 33's entrance?????popcorn::popcorn::

Jo, you describing going into DL is exactly how I felt when I finally went into the Magic Kingdom at WDW as an adult. I had been going to DL all my life it seemed but I really wanted to experience WDW as an adult. I cried as well and I NEVER cry. I totally understand that overwhelming feeling :)

Jo - Love your story! I was a grown up the first time I went to WDW! I teared up and made DH take my picture EVERY time we walked in front of the castle! I would say "Oh Cinderella's Castle, take my picture!" And he would say, "Again?" :confused3

I could hardly believe I was there and wanted photographic evidence of it!

Tas, NC---
