This is sooooo neat-- I have to tell you guys what we "discovered" this weekend.

Sunday morning as the kids were getting ready to go to church- I was dealing with a migraine so I didn't go- and so I was sitting in my coffee room- which is called a "Hearth room" in the plans for the house- and- we sit in there in the mornings and have coffee- hence the coffee room name.

Anyway- in there I have a couch and two chairs a couple of side tables and my huuuge bookcase that streches across the wall and up to the ceiling. So I was sitting in the chair closest to the bookcase and looked over at the books my mom had just brought me from Charleston. She's always going to antique shows and book sales and buying me all the old books she can get her hands on b/c I'm trying to fillt he monster bookcase.

So I look over and see a leatherbound small book and on the spine of the book it said "Browning's Poems." It was a book of Robert Browning's poetry. So I pick it up and start looking thru it. And as I was getting ready to put it back on the shelf, I turned to the front page of the book and saw an inscription written there.

I read it.

My heart stopped. Then sputtered. The I read the inscription again. I stopped breathing.

My heart raced.

Mark came into the room.

I said "What does this say?" and held it out to him to read.

He took the book and read it out loud-
"Ethel duP. ROOSEVELT
with a very Merry X-Mas.
FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT Jr.
Rosemont Farms 1945"

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

I said "Oh. My. Gosh. THAT"S FDR's SON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We did some quick research only to find out that Ethel was FDR Jr's first wife, whom he divorced in 1949. She was a duPont of the Dupont industrialists. ANd they BOTH were on the cover of Time Magazine and their wedding was covered.

Google it. It's unbelievable.

I am not believing what I have.

His autograph goes for anywhere from $200 up.
But I don't think I want to sell it.

I'm just so excited to own it.

Oh yeah--

my mom paid $4 for the book.

Morning Trix!

Well actually it seems that we are finally getting some where with the house. Maybe. We withdrew our original offer about 2 weeks ago and put in a new lower offer in order to accept the offer we got on our house. So one is pending/contingent upon the other happening. We were still getting nowhere with the house we want because of the short sale and the bank being in CA. The house is listed with the same company that our house is listed with, but with a different realtor. So he is our realtor's co-worker. Well he claims that he calls the bank once a week and is getting nowhere, but didn't want to call them anymore than that and "annoy" them. Finally last week our realtor got involved (after we told her we were pulling out of everything if we don't hear anything by June 1st) and got all the info she needed and started calling the short sale/mitigation dept of this bank in CA. Come to find out that the offer in their folder was the offer that was in way before our original offer, from the other people. So needless to say, they never even saw our first offer. In the meantime that agent (our realtor's co-worker) had been telling us for 2 months that they were "working on" our offer.

So anyway, she kind of thought she would hear something back on Friday, but didn't and really expects to hear something this week. So we wait some more. . . :rolleyes1 And they won't even get into their office out there until noon here.

We went out to the house yesterday and snooped around some more. We met the next door neighbors (who are nearly an acre away!) and the woman had a WDW shirt on!! :yay: They seemed very nice and they have one son who is in DS10's grade!

Hooray for your realtor!!!! I am so glad she has gotten involved!

Morning Mayers. :sad2:

I had a terrible weekend. I need to get out of that house. My mom is nowhere to be found. She took my dad's phone, wallet, keys and took off yesterday. I'm exhausted. I can't try to make a new marriage work and get on with our lives and then keep holding them together.

I am seriously at the point where I want to move out of state, just because moving across town is not far enough away from these people. I don't care if I can't find a job. I can get 2 crappy part time jobs. It's not like I'm making millions at the one that I have now.

I need help. I don't know what to do. :guilty:

Sorry to be a downer, but I just don't know what to do.

 Hang in there!

Okay, I'm holding you to that!!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

:lmao:

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

"Um, here we have the monorail.

Oh yeah and here's the parking lot. The tram just left, sorry we didn't get a picture of it.

Oh and Here... is a picture of the ground.

And this is a picture of... um, my foot?

And finally, the grand finale...
a picture of... Mark's cell phone. B/c you know he'll be on it the entire time."

:lmao:

Hey NC! :goodvibes

Very cool story JO! Wow :cool1:

I'm soooooooooooo entertaining.

Mark says I'm the only person he's ever heard of that can go into the bathroom and come out with a story about something every single time we are out in public.

:lmao::lmao:

I say "Yeah- but you're the one who was in the bathroom with Rod Stewart."

Mornin everyone.

Lake! You are quite the packer!!!:woohoo: did you have a good cry before you packed your forst box? I can't ever pack until I have a good cry before hand. How are you feeling? Any more Dr visits?

Jo

I am quite the packer..and trust me no tears at all.... just the joy at the thought of moving out and on with our lives. I am so excited!

Our financing is all done with the bank..we had been preapproved for even more than we are asking them for so no issues there. The bank is just waiting for the ok from their own insurer for the value of the house... but it is taking FOREVER!!!!! If they screw this up for me... I'll be changing banks! We've been waiting 4 days since we turned in the offer forms, and everytime we call... the person we need to talk to isn't available, and we can only leave messages. I hate that.

I am feeling good, anxious, but really good..
My next Dr. appointment isn't until July. Since there is nothing more I can do right now... I am happy the house and move can distract me until then. :)

In case I'm not online a lot... I want to make sure I say...have a fantastic trip to Cali!!! :)

Shelly - Wow, I can't believe all that happen on that offer you made. Glad to hear that the offer for your home still stands.

RF - Sorry to hear about all the stuff going on with your family. Hang in there, you are in my prayers.

Lake - Glad to hear that everything coming together smoothly.

Jo - Woo Hoo! California watch out, here comes Jo!

Trix - Glad you had a nice trip.

NC - School almost out??? My son Chris has his finals this week.

Cool and Cloudy here as well.
I guess it is spring though... we opened the pool this weekend... the kids want some sun and heat soon so they can use it a few times before the move.! :)

Friday was our last day of school! Tell your Chris I said good luck with finals! Are his cummulative? Ours were! Yuck! I am so glad to have that behind us!

Hey Jo~did you get your Vera? Are you giving it to MCat or keeping it for yourself? I used mine this weekend and was absolutely shocked at how much junk I could fit in it...I put all of the the girls' and my toiletries in it (a lot...including a full salon sized hairspray) and had room to spare! :scared1: Amazing!

For anyone interested , I decided to keep the Daisy Daisy. :thumbsup2

Hey Trix!

I haven't decided about my Vera yet.

When i got it- I was in a big rush out the door to go somewhere- forget where to-- and I opened it really fast, perused the sheer ginormity of the case----:scared1: and threw it and everything else back into the box and into the closet... tucked waaaaaay in the back from prying MCat (and Marky!) eyes.:cool2::rotfl:

I haven't pulled it back out since then- and thought of using it for my carry on this trip for my makeup and such- but dang. It is the size of North AMerica
and I'm not sure about it working for my carry on.

Anyway-- good to know you liked it. Still on the fence as to what i want to do.

I thought it kind of looked like a diaper bag- so I'm not sure MCat will want it anyway.

I also bought a cosmetics case and one of those wallet thing-ys that you can put your license into. I will be carrying that. Mcat already has one.

Glad you kept Daisy Daisy. I thought it was cute.:lovestruc

Here are some pics of our little trip.

These are my favorites from Potawatomie Zoo in South Bend:

The architecture was gorgeous, but to me the grounds left a bit to be desired. I guess I was just spoiled by my Alma Mater. :snooty:

I thought it kind of looked like a diaper bag- so I'm not sure MCat will want it anyway.

I thought the same thing! I'm just choosing to think of it more like a carry-all than a diaper bag. I think it looks nicer stuffed full than it does all empty. Try cramming some junk in it and see what you think before you make a decision. :teacher:

:lmao:

Trix - I love the pics! Especially "Touchdown Jesus"!!!

For some reason now I want to chant, "Rudy, Rudy, Rudy..."
