These Are The MAYS Of Our Lives! V

My DH wasn't into going to WDW at first, but he likes it more and more after each trip now! I have learned to make things all about him ;) and it works out great!!

Trix - I know you said that your DH doesn't want to go back :guilty: did he not like WDW? Or just not like the pricetag :scared:

It's very complicated...and I don't think I even understand everything he's thinking because every time we talk about it, he has another perspective. He thought the trip was great...he thanked me for planning such a good trip...but he wants to go to the beach and have it be warm when he's in Florida and he wants to do more grown up things (snorkel and fish) when he's on vacation and he'd rather have more people to share the trip with and he doesn't want to go back to the same place every year. I'm really doing my best to understand where he's coming from and not get upset about it. I just don't think there is a better place for our family to vacation right now! The girls aren't really old enough to want to go snorkeling and stuff. I don't get the desire to be at the beach, as his parents live on the beach!!! We can be at the beach all summer (and we rent a cottage on a different beach for a week every summer)! We haven't gone on any other big trips previously because of DD9's anxiety/panic, so we don't have much to compare.

Are you sorry you asked?

Thoughts?

I think it was us!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

It most certainly is not because of you!

:grouphug:

That's a hug for your whole family because we love you!

Oh Trixie. I know we talk about this a lot, and I still don't know what to say.

I loved when he thanked you on your last day for planning such a great vacation. That must have felt so great! So I was pretty sure he had a wonderful time and would want to go again. I do get where he is coming from with wanting to try new things. But I also get where you are coming from when you say there is no better place for your family given the children's ages. Totally agree there! They won't be this age forever! What I like to do to keep it new and exciting is stay at a different resort, try different restaurants, and rotate certain things - like Fantasmic & IllumiNations, and parades and so on. That way we aren't seeing the same things over and over on every trip.

Maybe offer to let him pick the resort. :confused3 Throw in a side trip to the beach, or anywhere else he wants to go. . . Ask him if there is anything that he didn't get to do that he would like to do. Ask him what he would have done differently. Seriously, really make him think it's all about him! :rotfl: I'm telling you, it works wonders! :thumbsup2 Have the kids make him cards thanking him for working so hard and taking them to Disney. (Even though you know that it was you that made everything happen ;)) Make sure the kids are telling him how much fun they had being with him at Disney!

And if all else fails - offer to invite his family  since he said he wants to go with other people.

I realize you have probably already done most of these things. And maybe it won't matter. Some people just don't get Disney. Maybe he's one of those people who thought it was nice but doesn't see the need to go again. :confused3 I don't know!

That didn't help at all, did it??? :rotfl:

AND~~It doesn't help me at all that the girls and I were watching our videos of the trip the other day and I looked over at DD7 after we watched Wishes and she was in tears. :sad1:

I asked her what was wrong and she said, "I just want to go back so bad!"

Now why couldn't DH have been home to hear that???

I don't know if I want to go back that badly!

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

I'm kidding, of course (mostly). I think one of my favorite things about being at Disney was that it was just the 4 of us. We've never been anywhere (except camping) that it was just the 4 of us. It was so easy!

The sun just came back out!! :sunny: Woohoo!!!!!

Looks like we are to get some more rain today and tomorrow, but then sunny skies Thursday - Sunday again!! :goodvibes With a high of 80 on Saturday! :cool1:

No - not sorry I asked. Sorry that you're in that situation. :sad1:

Hopefully he will grow to love it as much as my DH did. But the problem is that he won't give it another chance - so you won't be able to find that out...

I don't get the beach thing either. Don't get me wrong - I love the beach!!!! But I don't get how people can go to the beach e-v-e-r-y year and .......that's it.... Yeah, it's beautiful and relaxing, but the problem is that me and my DH is super energetic :yay: and love all of the choices that there are at WDW. You can do something all day everyday - or you can lay by your pool.

Does he know about all of the awesomely "relaxing grown up stuff" that there is to do at WDW too? Maybe if the MAYers put our heads together - we can come up with a list of stuff that you can be like:

"Oh yeah - you want to snorkle, well you can do that at Typhoon Lagoon" (You can!!!! I have pics! It's super fun :yay:)

and "Oh, you want to golf?? How about at one of the FIVE courses they have - and we can take the girls to mini golf later too"

How 'bout a super grown up show that's still suitable for the whole family? (La Nouba)

Think about the "grown up things" he wants to do and try to make it fit into WDW. It may cost a bit more, but if you guys keep going during value season and maybe try out a value or moderate resort next time.... Then he may enjoy it more! Maybe try it during free dining and upgrade to deluxe and try all the fancy pants restaurants next time... the possiblities are endless. :goodvibes .... I'll help you find stuff if you want! I'm done planning... and almost done packing :rolleyes1

I need something to get me through these next 2 weeks

Anyway you could set that up to happen again WHEN YOUR DH IS HOME??? :rolleyes1

I don't know if I want to go back that badly!

I'm kidding, of course (mostly). I think one of my favorite things about being at Disney was that it was just the 4 of us. We've never been anywhere (except camping) that it was just the 4 of us. It was so easy!

Notice I said - when all else fails!! :rotfl:

A agree, I think it would be really complicated with other people to coordinate around. Not that I ever have to worry about it, none of our family has any interest in Disney. :confused3

Shelly and RF~I think you're right. Next time I talk to him about it (and we are talking about it...as opposed to fighting about it) I'll ask him what he would want to do. And then see if it could be done.

We've talked about Sea World a bit, which sounds like it could be done in a day...and isn't Cocoa Beach pretty close? La Nouba is a great idea, too. Keep 'em coming!

Thanks!

What about a romantic evening alone out on the Boardwalk??? Dinner, shopping, walking hand in hand. . . :lovestruc

Or wouldn't you feel comfortable leaving the girls at the Kid's Club? My kids LOVED it!! But as you know, they are not shy! We said we would never do that, but we did it on our 3rd trip and the evening was enjoyed by all!

DisneyQuest
Water Skiing
La Nouba
Parasailing
Fishing (either cheap or free ... from the dock at POR and you can go out on a boat on Bay Lake $$$)
Boat Rentals
Surf School
Tennis
Golf
Wide World of Sports
Richard Petty driving experience
Horseback riding
Horsedrawn carriage rides
Spa services

Now, a lot of these are kinda pricy :scared: but you can always try to find some free stuff to do - spend a little more time away from the parks with a little less "in your face" disney stuff and I agree with Shelly - why don't you let him choose the resort?

Oh, and I would definately stage the DD crying scene again too. ;)

:lmao:

Oh I thought of an even better idea! You go when we go and we will each take an evening with all the kids. Then you could have an evening out and we could have an evening out and we wouldn't have to pay the $22 an hour for a kids club!! And the kids would have just as much fun because they all hit it off so well last time! :yay::yay::yay::yay:

You are not seriously almost done packing...really? :worship:

Shameful, but true. BUT - There is only 2 of us. You guys all have to pack for families so I'm sure I wouldn't be this professional if that as the case.

We ship all of our toiletries down to WDW, so those are seperated and just need boxed up and sent out about a week beforehand. And, the weather here is pretty chilly still, so I just grabbed all my summer clothes from out of storage and voila! I only need to pack shoes, a few more tops, undergarments :goodvibes and make up. Other than that - we're good to go! I already printed out my flight and car confirmations, itineraries, touring plans and birthday promo stuff.

RF and I are NOT on that procrastinating MAYer list!

We like to get things done!! :woohoo: RF - you will probably still be like this when you have kids. It's a curse! :rotfl:Once a planner, always a planner!

I was just thinking the same exact thing! :goodvibes

RF - You and I are just full of wonderful ideas today! :thumbsup2:goodvibes

I just think we have a serious addiction and want Trixie's DH to drink the Kool Aid with us. :rotfl2:.....I just don't understand why he doesn't want to be one of us, one of us, one of us.... :hyper2:

:lmao:

I was just thinking the same exact thing! :goodvibes

Would your girls go for it? You know my boys would. I think DS7 tried to leave with you guys a few times! :lmao: Your family must be much more exciting than ours!! :confused3:laughing:

I wonder if say we had your girls to our resort one evening if it would be considered "pool hoping" to take them to the pool with us???

 Probably. I sure wouldn't mention that on the resorts board, they tend to jump all over anyone who mentions pool hoping! :rotfl:
