Good Morning My MAYers!

Today is the first day I have had lots of energy and actually feel like doing something.

Only I can't.

Warning-=---------- I'm venting. Skip ahead if you can't take me complaining today.

Drew's still sick. We went to the Dr yesterday- and while I won't call him an incompetent so and so---- I will say Belle was misdiagnosed by him before.

Anyway, both strep and flu tests were negative. Which is good. Except for the really high rate of false negatives in the flu tests. So the doc said he only has a virus- (really? isn't that what the flu is?) and sent him on his way with not even an RX for a cough med.

*sigh*
I have been reading lots of stuff on the flu and around the country, dr's are actually not testing for it anymore and dx'ing by symptoms only. Which is fine--- but the dr only gave me an excuse for school for yesterday and today. He's supposed to return to school tommorrow, only that's not happening.

So there my baby is lying-- with every symptom of the flu-- but doesn't have the flu or so the dr says-- in bed with a fever of almost 102 and feeling awful, bright red cheeks and all.


So there ya go. Exactly why I didn't go to the dr when I had it.

So I guess my big news is........

LET THE PLANNING BEGIN--- I'LL BE AT THE POLY IN 2010!!!!!!!




Mark gave me the go ahead this morning!

He brought it up. He started talking about vacation- and he said he really wanted to go somewhere he could relax by the pool, not have to be somewhere at every moment ( Sea-- I always remember that talk the MAYers had that time you explained what most guys want on vacation. It helped me understand him a bit- so thanks.) but then he said that when he thinks of doing that it sounds fun- but then he thinks of a WDW vacation and really likes to do that too so he was torn.

And so that gave me SUCH a great opportunity to tell him about the plans I had worked on this past week--- where we didn't plan a whole bunch and relaxed a whole lot. I told him everything --- about staying at WL and the DxDP and all that entailed.

And then he surprised me by saying-- that he thought it all sounded good-- but he really would rather stay at one of the monorail resorts, even though he really likes the WL. He mentioned the GF- and we both at the same time said "NAH."--- then he said he wants to stay at the Poly. I told him it would be about $600 more just for a standard (That's taking into account I can get a deal-) and he said he didn't care, to go ahead and get working on it.



I cannot believe it. I'm so excited. Now, to get me a ticker that will fit.

Hey JO! Sorry about Drew and the doctor. Sounds like maybe you need to look for a new pediatrician. So what happens when you don't have an excuse for tomorrow? Does the school get all bent out of shape about it? I'm not sure at what point our school needs a doctor's excuse. Maybe 5 days. Luckily my kids usually only miss the days we pull them out for vacation. Probably won't be the case this year though with all this crap that's going around.


So - Congrats on the Poly 2010 vacation!!! Is this still going to be in MAY? Sounds wonderful! What deal are you anticipating? The 4/3 appears to only go through March as of right now. And it's not as great of a deal without the $200 gift card. Hopefully you will get free dining or 40% off!

Hey Shelly-

The Dr I took him to was actually just a walk in clinic that is really a good place-- he just happens to be the worst dr in there. I didn't take him to his regualr Dr b/c I knew (had heard) that the reg dr's aren't giving out Tamiflu here- but this place was. I had wanted to get some Tamiflu for him, as well as Belle- and for Mark. Mark is travelling soon- and I didn't want him exposed and getting sick. Soooooo-= it serves me right, trying to be weasely and work the system.

Advil is doing the job nicely- it knocks his fever down a bit- enough to get some food in him, before he gets nauseous again. Poor baby. I hate giving it to him on an empty stomach, but Gatorade is our friend right now. And whaddaya know-- it was made by a University of Florida scientist.


Anyway- the trip-- ooooh- I'm happy. May 1-8. Kids won't get to go. They wouldn't want to tour WDW that way, anyway.
I'm going to try to finagle a way to get them there sometime after that, though.

When I was figuring prices, I worked with a 40% off number, just b/c I really don't see the economy bouncing back quickly. I think they will release a deal for after Easter. Maybe before, based on the # of bookings, of course. ANd how well Christmas does.


Now I need to renew my TGM and Undercover tourist memberships.

My birthday at DL...

Got to the park around 8:30 am and headed straight to the ticket booth to get my $72 fun card and my birthday button. Woo Hoo! Thank you Mickey Mouse!

When you go through the entrance and give them your AP, the CM can wish you a happy birthday!

It's Halloween time at DL - the new floral is beautiful this year!

First stop - Ghost Galaxy! The Halloween overlay on Space Mountain!

OMG - This was really freaky - they did a great job trying to scare you!

Jack Skellington and Sally are visiting the park for the holidays. They both wished me a happy birthday and asked if I had been to birthdaytown and have I set my cake aflame yet? LOLOL! They were kewl!

We didn't eat any breakfast and we were starving so my wife suggested we go and try the BBQ at Big Thunder Ranch.

They serve it family style - chicken, ribs, cole slaw, beans and corn bread - all you can eat! The meat bucket!

The beef ribs were awesome. The meat fell right off the bone, the chicken was great too. The beans and cornbread were excellent, the cole slaw was good, but little too sweet for my taste. Very reasonable too - $20.00 per person, drinks are extra - less our AP discount 15% = a real bargain! We were full for the rest of the day.

Heading out of DL to DCA to ride TOT!

This place is dusty...

A thirteen minute wait! Woo Hoo! After that, we rode Grizzly River Rapids. I got totally soaked. I should have brought another change of clothes. Then headed over to TSMM for a ride - lame birthday score - but hey it was fun. Then back over to DL and look who we saw dressed in their Halloween costumes!

After that we just hung around and found our space for fireworks, Halloween Screams - it was so awesome. I will post a video of it later for you. And we rode Ghost Galaxy again and Haunted Mansion Holiday for the first time of the season. Very cool.

Scary!!!

Got home around midnight and crashed...what a birthday, but it was a blast to spend it with my boys and wife. Sea

The crowds were manageable. The longest lines were at Space and HM. Up to 1.5 hours for Space Mountain! Fortunately we had FP's - so that cut our wait time to nothing.

The ride has you traveling in space being while chased by this "phenomena". The ghost is literally following you throughout the ride trying to reach out and grab you. The effect works pretty well and it does scare little kids a lot. I thought they did a great job on it. The on ride music is different and they do a projection show at night on the outside of the ride. I will try to get video of that next time.

Yes, we are going to the Halloween party again this year at DCA on 23rd. I will take more pictures next time of the decorations. I wasn't too happy about how some of pics came out this week.

Oh yea, my wife bought a cool Jim Shore model, Sleeping Beauty's Castle. Got it on sale for $30 minus our 15% AP discount = awesome! The regular price was $75, so she got a great deal.

Ok..so I'm still alive (or at least I think I am). Been a while since I've posted here. Work, life, etc. has been so hectic I've hardly had time to 'enjoy' the web.

Sea -- LOVED the Halloween DL pictures from your birthday. I am so jealous! I wish I was going for Halloween. Did you get to see the new firework show? I've only seen the youtube version and it made me soooooo envious of those that got to be there.

We are going to stay at the Disneyland Hotel for the first time ever. I'm really excited about that. My mom is flying in from Texas to go with us as is one of my Aunt's that lives in Phoenix. She's bringing her 3 year old grand daughter.

We haven't made a ton of plans since we are going to play it by ear and go on a 'what the kids want' schedule. Of course, there is time that I will get to be the 'kid' in that equation That's why my mom is coming along. Grandma babysitter for the win!

I think we are going to do the Fantasmic dessert seating as I hate standing around to 'camp' a spot for the show. I'd much rather spend the money and show up a little before the show to my assigned seat. It is the Mayer way after all

I got a Snow White dress for Eliska to wear one day. I just hope she keeps it on and doesn't destroy it We may also take her to get her first haircut at the barber shop on Main Street.

We also will be horrible parents and take her on the Holiday Haunted Mansion ride. She will love 'Nightmare Before Christmas'. In this, she has no choice!
