and heading back to Frontierland-
Here's something really neat-- a present given to Mr Disney from Mrs Disney-
I mean, really, what do you give to a man who has his very own theme park, Restaurants, Fire engine, Train complete with train station, horses, theater, rides and oh yeah- the Mouse that started it all?
Oh I know!! A petrified tree! What else??
Tom Sawyers Island-- smaller than WDW it looks like-
And back to POTC to finally ride it!! What I've been waiting for all day!
The queue area---
sorry it's blurry- it's pretyy dark in there!
We loved POTC!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The beginning of the ride, once you board, you ride past the tables at Blue Bayou, (think the Mexican Restaurant in Epcot--) hearing crickets chirping. Pass a dilapidated old shack with a man in a rocking chair out front- lightening bugs all around- very much like the swamps in the Bayou.
You duck into a cave like area and Davey Jones appears, just like in the WDW thru the mist.
I can't remember what happens next- if you hit the first dip (not that bad- but still -- in the dark!) or if you see the plundered wares and gold dripping off of everything in what is made to look like a room in a house--
but anyway- you do those two things, see the skeleton manning the wheel of the ship and then you have the fighting scene like WDW.
The rest is pretty much the same except you have a scene at the end where there are pirates on top of canons shooting over your heads- and then, instead of your little boat craft getting stopped right in front of Captain Jack, your boat goes up a looooooong conveyer belt to get you upo to ground level and you float past those last two pics I posted before getting back to the beginning.
All in all, I'd say the ride at POTC at DL is 100X better- the queue at WDW, however, I'd say is better.
Considered getting a Dole Whip-
But instead, decided to head for the exit
and walk to Cali Adventure!
