So DS10 has soccer try-outs tonight. Never had to try-out before. But now that he has to go into U12 Travel Soccer he has to try out and make the team. Should be interesting. Most kids are either always good or um how do I say it - consistently "not so good". DS is neither of those. He has days where he is very focused and tries really hard and ends up being the best player on the team that day. Then he has other days when he is totally unfocused, thinking about Star Wars, video games, and the girl on the other team! And he really stinks on those days. I know it has to do with his ADD and he can't help it. But man he could be so good all the time if he would just try harder and could stay focused.

Try-outs should be interesting. Hopefully he will be focused!

Shelly- we talked about going in Nov- but decided that in order to go - we'd want to go to a FL game- ($350-$500 for tix) then go to WDW- ($2000 +/-), go to the wedding in Tampa- ($400+ for two nights hotel- we always get two rooms everywhere we go)- and gas- (we'd drive $350+) , and boarding the dog for that long-- ($250), not to mention food and incedentals everyone would want to buy (ie Gator Gear, LOL- that last year we spent $500 on, lol), and then turning around and going three weeks later to Charleston for Christmas and presents and everything there.

Whew- my savings account just had a heart attack. Needless to say- it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay way way more than we wanted to spend.

So turkey day will be here this year, at my dining room table, with a little help from HoneyBaked Ham where I will buy all of the sides to go with the turkey and rolls I will cook. Much cheaper than the thousands going to Florida I was willing to spend.



Good luck to your son tonight! I hope he makes the team. From the way to talk- he's quite a good soccer player- so I hope he's "On" tonight for tryouts!

How about ABC Commissary at DHS?

Okay, so I think I'll try Pizzafari. But you guys have me scared about ABC Commissary!

Pizzafari is good, quality Disney pizza. You really can't go wrong with it. I agree with NC about ABC Commissary, ate there once, definitely will not be going back. When I'm on my own I usually eat at Pizza Planet (what can I say, I like Disney pizza ) but...

Restaurantosauras used to serve McDonalds food but I don't think they do anymore. We did eat there once. It was burgers, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, etc.

Is the place you eat at DHS the Backlot Express? I was looking at that menu too. It's too bad that DHS doesn't have any better CS choices.

this place is awesome. The Chicken Caesar wrap is a favorite of all of my friends. Anytime I go with more than one person, this is where we wind up eating. It's usually not as busy as the other CS restaurants and it keeps some weird hours sometimes, as long as you go during the normal lunch time you should be good though.

I haven't asked yet, but was wondering if you could spare a prayer for my cousin, Rebecca?

In late May, she and my other cousin took a trip to Egypt for fun- Rebecca is getting married Labor day w'kend- in CHS, she lives in Puerto Rico.
ANyway, the last three days of their trip, Rebecca got really sick with what they thought was food poisoning.

It's now almost August and she is still sick. She has been to specialist after specialist and no one can find out what she has.
They were thinking she picked up a parasite, but all the tests (hundreds of different types- things you've never heard of before-) keep coming back negative.

In all of this, she has lost 25 pounds and is down to below 100 pounds. It's now affected her heart, and she spends all day in bed b/c when she gets up, her heart goes into an abnormal rhythm, which they are trying to get under control thru meds.

She has always been very healthy- runs 8 miles a day and works out religiously- so they are concerned this is going to affect the rest of her life.

She is in SC with my Mom and Aunt, seeing all kinds of Dr's- and can't go back to Puerto Rico to get ready for her wedding until she is able to fly.

Her Fiancee had to address and send out the invitations from their home. He is having to get everything together for the wedding without her there. At this point, we are all hoping that she has the strength to walk down the aisle without blacking out.

Anyway- if you could pray that the Dr's will find what is wrong and be able to treat her properly- she sees another one on Thursday-- I'd appreciate it.

Yea, it is called reglazing. It is a task best left with someone who has the equipment and know-how.

Disneyland, continued...

So when we last left the story, we had just gotten me a set of Minnie Mouse ears after riding SM.

So we ( meaning, Mark-) decided to walk around some more, taking more pictures, because, gosh honey, it's not like there's a ton of rides to get to or anything.

Did I ever tell you guys that Mark is not a big fan of riding rides? He'd much rather go and sit somewhere in the sun and look around at his surroundings.

Perhaps he's part lizard?
Anyway, I digress.

Having no sun, we just headed for the castle, on the Fantasyland side.

See how cloudy it was??? Don't go to Cali in June. No sun.

I just love the castle.
It is so different than the one at WDW.
It's shorter, squattier (haha) and I just love it. Looks like a big dollhouse for a little girl.


Off to the side of the castle is this precious garden area, where they have the Snow White and Dwarfs statues, along with the wishing well.

I really thought this was adorable. I wish WDW had something like it, but alas, it is not to be.
