Have you ever been to Coral Reef before? We're trying it for the first time for my DH's birthday. I've heard mixed reviews for it but then again isn't that the case with all restaurants.

We've done Chef Mickey's 3X now for breakfast and always love it- more for the characters but the food was good too. We're skipping it this time and trying Ohana's for breakfast.

We're trying Akershus breakfast first time this trip too! DD is going to love the princesses!

I just noticed a trend. We do lots of breakfasts since we're on the QSDDP and paying OOP for the couple of special meals.

Afternoon Mayers :goodvibes

Yaaaay! For your trip being 8 days away Monny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where's Jo with the banana dude countdown??

We really enjoyed Coral Reef. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great, they give you a little card on the table to help you identify which fish are in the tank. I like it! I had the mahi mahi with coconut jasmine rice and cashews... It was good enough for me to look for the recipe - so I think you will probably enjoy it. :thumbsup2

Also, we tried Akershus. The food was great! Well, the hot food. They have a 'cold buffet' and serve the hot food family style. I wouldn't even waste the energy walking up to the cold buffet unless you're into smoked salmon and pickled herring and cream cheese and stuff like that. The interaction with the princesses will be great with your little girl. With just us 2 adults..... kinda awkward.

Yes, I love Coral Reef. Did you request a table by the tank. I love the Baileys Mouse.YUMMY

I have done Chef Mickeys for dinner never for breakfast. The only breakfast we are doing is Crystal Palace. I LOVE THAT BREAKFAST!! We go early so I can get in before the park opens. I have heard good thing about Ohana for breakfast. I think they have good juice.

We have the regular dining plan so I like to do alot of dinners but we never skip Crystal Palace.

Oh also I have done Akerhus for breakfast and it is good. The cinnamon buns are AWESOME!!! We are doing the dinner because the girls dont eat breakfast much. So I pack some dry cereal for them to eat on the go.

I will post them in a couple minutes. I am rearraging my park days. I did them before nothing the extra magic hours.

Hey guys, can I take a boat to dowtown disney from Hollywood studios

I don't think so either, but I think you can take a boat to the Boardwalk area/Swan & Dolphin/ Yacht & Beach Club.

I'm not sure if it's on the dining plan. I'm thinking it's not. We went in March and loved it. I think I had to call a separate number for our reservation though. That's why I think it's not on the plan.

Afternoon MAYers! Well, evening now. Sorry.

First off, I apologize to Monny for not giving the banana dude countdown.... thanks to RF for filling the need. Yay for 8 days!:goodvibes

I have been running around all afternoon- lunch with Mark, then to Target- was going to go to Walmart but got sucked into the Target black hole. I'm planning my SIL's Spring Break at WDW for her, so had to ge tthe necessities. :) (Carl- if you're reading-- it's coming along good. I just made some ADR's for you.;))

ANyway- then went to the school to get the kids, talked forever to Belle's teacher and then made supper. Busy busy!

Huggie--- I've been to WCC twice. I thought the first time was okay, but the last time I was there, I got the trout and thought it was very good.

I've eaten at Akershus for Breakfast- in 2006 on my Bday-- and it is good.:)

Shelly-- I thought I remembered you saying you don't like to know any spoilers- so I asked. Good thing I didn't tell everyone.

Okay- gotta run.... will talk tomorrow!

Morning :surfweb: How are the MAYers today?

I think we should start keeping track of everyone's trips like we used to! Just because we're not all in May :sad1: doesn't mean we should stop!

Monny, KB and Sea, Huggie (your ADR's look great!), Jo, NC will probably sneak a trip in there.... me in Sept.... Shelly probably in Nov again, Mari in December. :goodvibes Am I missing anyone with an upcoming trip?

I am so excited for my trip I coul BURST! I keep nagging my parents to see if Casey can come with us. It's 8 months away but we started making some plans and I am keep buying gift cards and chipping away at that balance. :scared1: I did some Disney math yesterday and I think I like the way that Sept is shaping up. It looks like free dining is going to be a REALLY good thing for us... Even upgrading from POP's QS free dining to DxDP. :goodvibes

Good idea RF!!! :thumbsup2

I wish I had a trip planned. :sad1: Who knows? Maybe.

I need to put the squeeze on my family this weekend and figure out what they want to do this year.

My advice to those with young kiddos, take trips while you can, the older it gets, the harder it is to coordinate the family calendar.

Two trips? You lucky girl. I would do it!!!

That's what I am afraid of and the very reason we are trying to go as much as possible now. I'm afraid once DS10 hits 7th grade vacationing in the off season is going to be a thing of the past for us, therefore not making Disney as appealing if we have to go when it is hot and/or crowded.

Speaking of the kids getting older. . . What is the right age to leave your kids home alone? I always thought it was 12, but apparently there is no set age in PA. And I know people who start doing it as young as 8 (not for extended periods of time). I'd love to know the MAYers thoughts on this. . . Also, do any of you with older kids ever leave them in the hotel room alone?

Just curious.

I know I can only ask this here, otherwise I would be flamed!! :rotfl:

Good morning Mayers.

Well, my dad made it safely to Orlando yesterday. His third trip to FL in the last 90 days. I must of forgot to tell you that he met a lady on the cruise we went on in November. She lives about 90 miles north east of Orlando.

They are going to visit DTD and then drive down to Ft. Myers and see the homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. Then they are driving over to Ft. Lauderdale to see some of her family. I guess she is giving him a tour of the whole state. LOL He will be back in two weeks.

Other than that, just doing the regular life stuff. Getting ready to clean out my garage and then my MIL garage. The house is done and up for sale. We had 60 people visit our open house this past Sunday. Three couples brought their contractor with them, so I am expecting an offer soon.

As for vacations this year, we are going to settle on a date soon for our Alaska cruise. I want to do a "getaway" trip to WDW this year, but I don't know when. I got some other trip ideas in the back of my mind too...are you guys still thinking of doing a PA meet up this Spring?

Sea

When Jeremy was ten, we would leave him home alone for about a hour here and there. When he was about thirteen we left him with his brother at the hotel alone when we went out to dinner in Hawaii.

You know your kids the best - I am sure you will know when it is the right time.

I am currently trying to pick dates for a November/December trip for our family (including my parents and my sister :scared1:).

But the trip is a definite go!!! :dance3: Can you believe it? And Mr. Trixie is even excited about it!!! :yay:

Yay Trixie!!! That's awesome! Congrats on convincing your DH!!

Sea - I am down for a PA meet whenever. It means I don't have to travel anywhere too far and my wallet likes the sound of that! :thumbsup2 Spring/summer would be great so then we could do Kennywood if you wanted to see it :goodvibes

Trixie- Congrats on making the trip official!!! That's AWESOME!!!!! Is the scared smilie because the thought of a trip with your extended family trip worries you or that you're surprised that your sister has agreed to go? Glad ot hear Mr. Trixie is excited! I almost fell out of bed the other night when my DH said he was actually looking forward to this trip and was excited! He tries to fool me but deep down he loves Disney!

RF- Thanks for the banana dude countdown! :goodvibes Crossing my fingers for free dining for you guys!

Huggie- We did request a table by the tank and our ADR is early (4:35) and it's been noted that it's my DH's bday so I'm REALLY hoping we get a good table!!!! Bailey's Mousse sounds delicious- might have to try it! ;) We made Ohana's and Akershus breakfast because my kids are opposite of yours- they'll eat breakfast all day.

Shelly- I think the rule here in MD is 10 :confused3 but 12 or something before you can be left with a younger sibling. I'll have to ask my sister. She had to look into in a couple years back. Hers are 10 and 13. For some kids I really don't think it should be based on a number but rather their maturity level. My DH's nephew is 16 and they never have left him alone. They're too afraid he'll burn the house down. You know your boys best. Perhaps give them little test runs- 20 minutes here and there. My sister started that way but didn't tell them how long she would be. That way they can be surprised when you're back so quickly and if any craziness is going on- you'll know because they wouldn't have had a chance to hide the evidence:lmao:.

Jo- Happy Shopping!

Sea- How's the weather in CA today? I'm SOOOO looking forward to some warm FL temps :goodvibes

Everyone else- :wave2:

:hug:And thanks again for letting me be a late addition to the MAYers :snooty:
