Great post Shelly - I think I found the board about 60 days before we went to WDW. It was such a blast posting up our dream vacations. We met Goofybaby on the last day at Epcot - it was so funny how we found each other that day. It has been good times here! Glad we are continuing the thread. - Sea

It makes me wish we were going in MAY! Can you believe it has been 3 years that we have all been chatting? Wow, I remember when we were all planning our MAY 2007 trips. Remember how many of us there were?! I remember the days it was hard to keep up with the thread it was so busy. We sure have come a long way. We've had our ups and downs. Times when the thread was busy, times when it was slow. Times when the thread was fun & filled with lots of laughs, times when we were there for each other during hard times. Times when we had MAYer Meets!

Wow look at me getting all sentimental! :rotfl: I guess this time of year makes you reflect on the past year/years. That, and the fact that I have recently found out that someone I thought was my friend really wasn't that good of a friend after-all. So I am really grateful for the good friends in my life.

:snooty::grouphug:

I really don't mind the snow right now. It probably wouldn't seem much like Christmas without it. But come Easter when it is STILL snowing, then I will be totally jealous of you and your sunny 80 degree days!!

I'm with you Shelly..I need snow for the holidays. It rained christmas day for us..so a little snow this morning to whiten things up was nice...all the other snowstorms have missed us.

Wow haven't we been busy MAYers today.... about to head out the door.... be back later maybe there will be a lot more pages for me to catchup on...

Jo - can't wait to read about ur upcoming trip.

:hug:We love you Shelly!

Here I am!! :flower3:

Thanks guys!! :grouphug:

I didn't meet any MAYers on that 2007 trip, but I have met quite a few over last couple of years. Hoping to meet up with one or both of you soon!

Thank you Jo!

Yes, they drain the river about every 5 years. In the past, they find lots of phones, cameras, park radios (dropped by CMs), a toaster, bowling ball, and a Mr. Coffee.

The water goes to underground reservoir that the city of Anaheim has about 14 miles away from the park and the water is treated and stored there, then sent back to Disneyland when they are ready to refill the river. The park did this when for the first time when they drain Paradise Bay in DCA to build World of Color. DL received a environment award from the state of California for doing this in 2009.

And yes, I will take a couple of pictures for you.

Sea

Sea--- loved the pics of your cruise and the DL reports.:lovestruc I know that your time at the cove was very special for your family and it will always be a memory that is in your heart forever. Your Mom was looking down, smiling, I'm sure.
Y'all got some great finds at DL!
And I didn't know that they drained the RoA. That is so interesting! You'll have to take a pic of it for me the next time you go. I bet they find all kinds of interesting stuff at the bottom of it. That is very weird to me. Do they just have a big drain in it? Where does the water go??? i'm so curious.

Another newbie Mayer popping in to say hello to all the Vintage Mayers. :snooty:

I'm enjoying my afternoon with 6 napping kids and Andrew is reluctantly in school. I felt so bad putting him on the bus today. I miss my baby dearly today. It was so great having him home last week. We spent every naptime doing things together. :sad1:
On a good note he and I are counting down the days until our trip. I have 13 work days left and he has 13 school days left. :woohoo: SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!

Sea- I love your wife's new Minnie sweatshirt. Too cute! I'd love to be in California for winter right now. It was strange to see your wife in short sleeves while it was snowing. That doesn't happen around here! It's frigid here on the East Coast! How on earth did a bowling ball, a toaster and a coffee maker get in there! Cell phones and cameras make sense but those things- weird!

Jo- Your trip plans look great- You're more planned than I am and I go in a little over 2 weeks!!!! Really I'm trying not to plan it out too much. We're going for the relaxed approach this time around. :rolleyes1 We'll see...

Shelly- Sorry to hear about your friend troubles. :sad2: I guess some people never grow up.

Hey Kim!

Sounds like a peaceful afternoon with all the kids napping. My boys were the same way this morning, not ready to go back to school yet. I know it's just killing them to not be playing the Wii for hours!! :rotfl:

Your trip is so close!!:goodvibes I can't wait to hear all about it and see your pictures. Be sure to take lots of CBR pics for me! :cloud9:

Though I want to still be in holiday mode, I really need to get back to some normalcy, so I am going to go and try start some more laundry, change some sheets, and start the dishwasher before the kids get home.

Our Christmas decorations are now completely all put away.

But tomorrow I start planning for Ethan's birthday party this weekend.
My baby boy is turning 8 on thursday...can I cry now:sad1:

It is peaceful but I really should be getting something done. Sometimes taking a break for me to relax is all I want though. This can wait- :laundy: Mama's having some DIS time.

I'll be sure to take lots of pics. Hopefully I'll have time for a TR after the trip!

We took down our Christmas decorations too but I'm excited because Christmas being over means my trip is closer!

Happy almost birthday to your baby. Cry all you want. I know how you feel. I get hit with a double whammy soon. DD turns 3 at the end of Feb and DS turns 6 in the beginning of April. :sad2:

Jo - I think that this is a great plan of action (or non-action) for a WDW trip.

For me, relaxing is taking in the surroundings and appreciating when I can discover something I have never seen before. The Imagineers have put in a lot hidden details that you can miss seeing the first, second, third, or even the hundredth time.

I always have my camera by my side and I take a ton of pictures. I try to find interesting things - and sometimes people too.

Visit the stores and look over the merchandise - lately there has been some really nice stuff out there.

Get your picture taken with as many characters and princesses as possible. LOL!

Get FP's for every ride possible and then give the FP's away to people after the FP time. They will be so surprised and happy. We do this almost every time we go to the parks and it makes you feel good too.

DTD is a great place to explore too. I think you can spend about 3-5 hours easily by just strolling along and looking at stuff there.

Order room service everyday - I LOVE getting food sent to my hotel room.

Sea

LOL-- Shelly!!! Great minds think alike and all that.:lmao: I NEED to talk about my vacation.
Haven't really done that with you guys yet.

Okay- so as most of you know---- I was a single mom when I met Mark. Mcat was 8 months old when we started dating. So there has never been a time in our relationship where there wasn't a child involved. That, coupled with Mark's very high pressure job--- we just have found that it is best for our marriage to go on vacations at least once a year as a couple-- it's very important for us.

Last year when we went to DL-- it was only a "sort of" vacation b/c it was coupled with his work and meetings and such. And we did get to go to Hawaii-- and extended it. but still, we were surrounded by work associates- so while it was a wonderful vacation, he still felt like it was work centered. I mean- it's really hard to relax when you've got the higher ups of your company with their eagle eyes watching you. :rotfl2:Sooooo- all of this to say-----
yes, we are going back to WDW. But this vacation is going to be totally different than the others we've taken.

Staying at the POLY, thanks to the fab pin I got--
And I'm totally not going to go commando. Which is a complete shock to my system. We're sleeping in, not doing rope drops--- not going to the parks till late, touring the other resorts, playing at the pool, eating a ton and, well... relaxing.

I'm not sure I can handle the change of pace but I know Mark really needs it. So I get to go where I want-- he gets to relax-- we're both happy. B/c honestly- he didn't bat an eye when I said I wanted to go back to WDW... I think he knew it was coming. And I think secretly he was excited too, although of course he'd never admit it to anyone.:rotfl2:

Places we're eating this trip--
'Ohana*
Artist Point*
Kouzzina breakfast*
Kona breakfast*
Le Cellier
Teppan Edo*
San Angel Inn (of course )
Liberty tree Tavern (another must do--- tradition.)
Jiko*

All of the starred ones are new for us.

So we are really excited!!:goodvibes

Any tips for a relaxing vacation?

I can post days and parks and plans if anyone is interested.

I was thinking of doing a "long weekend" at WDW with just the two of us in May. What are your dates Jo?

Okay- I have to go do laundry-- and I cannot find my plans!! I've searched the house for my WDW notebook--- it's MIA.

Sooo- I will try to locate them during my absence for the next two hours and come back with WDW plans to entertain you guys.

I really wish all the MAYers were going together again. Am I the only MAYer, MAYer this year?????????????????
That's sad.
Oh wait-- no Huggie is a MAYer, MAYer. I think we are missing one another by a day.

Off i go.

Jo

Kim - That "snow" you see in the pics is Disney snow - we call it "snoap". It is soap bubbles that they blow out over you. Looks like the real stuff - good effect eh?

Who knows how that stuff gets into the ROA. Probably some CMs dumped them one night after hours as a joke, knowing that someone would find it after it was drained out.

Yea, my wife likes the new threads too - she couldn't pass up the 20% off deal we got.

I'm so sorry Mari. That really stinks!

^^^ Oh Mari - that is such a big bummer!!! But great pics - Marissa looks so happy on top of her daddy's shoulders. I really like the big Mickey and Minny over the front entrance. I wonder what they are going to do with those?

BTW - "Mrs. Walt" is good nickname for you. - Sea

Loved the rivers story. :rotfl: A toaster?????:lmao:
I was so interested to see what they were building at DCA--- I wish I could see it in person.
I liked your room service idea! I'm thinking that might be in the works for at least a couple of mornings--- I am a bit on the snobby side and like room service.:rolleyes1
And the FP idea too--- I always give out some to people -- it's fun to see their eyes light up.:goodvibes
