Good night my fellow MAYers......

Good morning MAYers!

Wow Star Wars in Concert looks so very cool. My kids would absolutely flip! It is in Pittsburgh at the end of November. But even with the cheapest seats it would be something like $200. Which would be fine, if we weren't just coming back from Disney. . . Hmm . . . I'm going to have to think about that one and run it by DH. . .

Congrats on the potty training Kim! :goodvibes You're life is about to get much easier!

Congrats on the excellent grades Mari! :cheer2: Way to go! You are doing awesome!

Good luck at WW RF! You can do it! :cool1:

KB - I didn't know you were such a Star Wars geek!! You need to meet my boys!

JO - where are you???

Hello to all other MAYers and MAYer lurkers!! :snooty:

Going to check on my PTR.

We just went to Star Wars in Concert last Friday -- got the tix as a gift from a friend who works at the venue. It was great! But you know, I'm totally a Star Wars Geek Girl :ewok: :yoda: :darth: :chewy:  This Friday, we are supposed to go see Alice Cooper's Halloween show in Lake Tahoe...so you never know what to expect with me :rotfl2:

Some details about the show last night (for Sea!). We have heard Star Wars music played by an orchestra before. Loved it then! Loved it now! There is something just so incredibly neat about hearing that music live. Bring on the french horns!

I really liked that they brought in Anthony Daniels (the actor that played C3PO) to narrate. He did a wonderful job.

My only real criticism is that they showed the Han shoots second clip from 'New Hope' instead of Han shoots first. (<--- Geek creds flying out right there :p)

The local chapter of the 501st was at the venue walking around so that people could take pictures if they liked. My husband went up to one of the imperial officers and asked about how to join. Heh. I think he's seriously going to try to join the Seattle regiment.

And, Katie, Alice Cooper for Halloween sounds neat!

Awesome CR (Concert Report) Tas! That would be so cool if your husband did join the 501st! A reginment came to D23 and they participated in the Star Tours 2 announcement and then hung around show. Very nice people. Glad to hear it was a good time.

Would the show be good for kids? Or is it more adult oriented?

Congrats Mari on the two "A"s on your papers!!!

It is definitely oriented towards any and all lovers of the films. There were a ton of kids there that appeared to be having a good time. A co-worker of mine took his 7 year old son and he said his son had a BLAST.

Thanks for the info! That is what I was wondering.

Can you tell me more about it? What all goes on? How long does it last?

Thanks! :goodvibes

It's about 2 1/2 hours long with an intermission. Basically the orchestra plays music from the film. Most of the time, there are clips from the film on a big screen behind the orchestra. The clips correspond to the story being told by Anthony Daniels and the music being played at the time. There are some lasers and some huge flames that take place from time to time.

Before the show, you can view props, drawings, and costumes from all the movies. These are items that had been stored on Skywalker Ranch and not publicly viewed before in such a manner. There are some pretty cool things there like Han in carbonite and a Chewbacca costume.

I would think it a good way to introduce children to classical music in an orchestra setting. It definitely did make the orchestra look a bit like rock stars.

Hi guys. :goodvibes So, we are going out shopping tonight so I can buy a printer and a food scale.

We need the printer so I can do that grocery game. I am excited! I want to see how much I can save for Disney. And the food scale - obviously  - for weight watchers.

We're making grilled chicken with cous cous and grilled zucchini and squash. :woohoo: Sounds healthy and delicious to me!

Great job on the tests Mari!!!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Slow day in here...... :bored:

What - no one's excited to talk about my couponing and weight loss? :lmao:

Awwwwww. To both items :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Seriously, I have thought about couponing again to save money. It's just not something people do a lot of here in Seattle. When I lived in Los Angeles, I made a game out of it and would save TONs at the store thanks to double coupons and my envelope bursting at the seems with couponage.

I moved to Seattle and was just surprised at how few people had coupons when they went to the store and got out of the habit of getting my Sunday paper and snipping away.

As to the weight loss, I started a work out routine about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I figured it was time to admit I'm getting older and the body just doesn't metabolize like it used to. Good luck with WW. I thought about trying something like that but I just don't think I have the willpower for it. I've never been able to stick to a diet for very long :( Lattes and lemon drop martinis call my name far too much.

KB - I didn't know you were such a Star Wars geek!! You need to meet my boys!

Yes, ma'am, I am.

Oh no kidding -- I want to get a "Han Shot First" T-shirt. And I also saw one that said, "Darth Vader was framed". :lmao:

I really hate too that in the "remastered" DVD's I have that the Ewok music in the end of RotJ has totally changed. Why??? It was perfect before!

I guess Alice Cooper always plays Halloween Night in Detroit, and my husband has seen the show before, but it's supposed to be the same theatrical/Halloweeny/horror feel as that show. Hope it's good!

Congrats Mari on the two "A"s on your papers!!!

Yes, don't remember if I mentioned it before, but good for you!!! :woohoo:

Slow day in here...... :bored:

I do! It's just been crazy-busy at work, with the storm...

It has been raining on and off since yesterday afternoon. However, it is suppose to stop soon and warm up and sunny for the weekend.

A live shot from the Pier cam!

http://www.westland.net/piercam/

We got 3" of rain in 24 hours, I think that's a record for the date. Power outages were insane with all of the downed trees, but it's finally starting to calm down here.

Wow! We had over 2" of rain yesterday here and it set a record. I thought that was a lot. Good grief, I cannot imagine 3". We have had 7.5" this month alone. I am so sick of rain!

Hi everyone.

The Star Wars in Concert sounds like something Ethan would love, and it is coming to the Place in Auburn Hills... I'm going to check it out today too. Thanks for all the info.

RF- good for you on joining WW.
I have some pounds I want to lose as well, we can work together on it. :)

Mari - Congrats on the great grades. But we knew you would do well.:woohoo:

Speaking of A's...guess who just brought home two as well. Yep Ethan received one on a social studies project and on his last spelling test. So either the teacher has realised she was being a little hard, and/or we've finally got Ethan back on the ball.

Now Emmy on the other hand...it's been a rough week with my 5 year old. She has been defiant and a little lippy, even her teacher mentioned she's not like her happy self. I have to figure out how to curb this and find my happy obedient girl again. Oh the struggles of parenting! You get one on track and the other derails.
:headache:

Morning.

I've been keeping up here a couple times a day- just haven't written.

I'm going thru one of those "I am sick of spending all my time on the internet" weeks.

Y'all know how I get.;)

I'll be back full force next week, probably.

Good luck to all the MAYers losing weight-- and to those getting their trips together too.:)

Congrats on the MAYer 'A''s and potty training ways.

See ya again soon.

Hugs-
Jo

Morning MAYers!

Good thing you checked in JO. Another day and I was about to call you. But now that I know you are fine and just boycotting the internet I will leave you alone! :rotfl:

Nothing much going on here. We are getting a little rain, nothing major like the rest of you though.

Good night my fellow MAYers......
My feeling weren't hurt at all Mari! I'm glad you Mayers had room for one more  Congrats on your papers! I'm glad you're doing so well- it's hard work! I thought for a little while about going back for my masters. It was a very short thought.

Good luck with the couponing! I couldn't keep up. It's just too much running around for me. A friend of mine is BIG into the coupon thing- here's her blog if it will help you :goodvibes http://coupongal21078.blogspot.com/
