Happy Wednesday Mayers!

The week is halfway over! :cool1:

OK Jo, now that you got the trip paid off are you planning any little extra things to do while you are at WDW? Water parks? Golfing? Miniature Golfing? Richard Petty Speedway? What about the new air balloon ride in DTD?

What is something you have never done at WDW that you would like to try on this trip?

Afternoon MAYers

I got the day off, can you believe it??? :yay: It's a beautiful sunny day! :goodvibes We had a crappy rainy day yesterday, but other than that we have been having some awesome weather for March. I even saw on Sunday that while it was 72 and sunny here, it was 66 and raining in Orlando! :scared1: That never happens.

Just getting caught up on some thing around the house today, plus working on putting the soccer teams together for spring soccer, which starts in 2 weeks. DS10 also starts hockey this Saturday. I am already scheduled to work all but 2 days out of the next 2 weeks! And will still be on call those 2 days. :upsidedow

We are about to get crazy busy around here!!

Did you guys see this about the tickers?
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2427279

I am so bummed. Now I have to find a new one and start all over again. It was the only BWI ticker I could find that I liked!

Well, I figured you would know what I should do. Here is what I am thinking: Fly in the evening on Thursday, July 8th, so Friday, Saturday and Sunday is open to whatever we want to do. What is the closest amusement park in your area? What day are we doing the meet up? I would fly back on Monday in the afternoon, but I could change to the next day or even later.

I just need to get back to LA before the 15th because I am going to DL 55th anniversary party on 17th and we have some friends coming in town for that.

Where do you recommend I stay? I don't need a 5 star place - also I will rent a car from the airport.

So what are your plans for when you come to Pittsburgh???

/
Well, the closest amusement park is Kennywood. As you know, I don't think it is that great. I think Geauga Lake and Cedar Point beat it by a mile, but those are in Ohio a couple hours away from Pittsburgh. We could do a meet up at Kennywood, but it will be very crowded in the middle of July and there will be no fastpasses!!!

Awhile back RF and I were talking about things we could do. There is the Carnegie Science Center. http://www.carnegiesciencecenter.org/ There are also several museums in the area. And lots of other stuff. Check it out here. http://www.visitpittsburgh.com/ Let us know what you are interested in. Depending on how far you want to travel out of the city there are even more things to do. An awesome huge outlet mall about 50 minutes north of the city, if Lena likes to shop!

You definitely want to go to Station Square. http://www.stationsquare.com/ It kind of puts you in mind of DTD. That's where we had our last MAYer Meet. We went to Houlihan's for dinner. http://www.houlihans.com/ It is very good!

As far as where to stay. . . Not sure. The Double Tree downtown is nice and centrally located. http://doubletree1.hilton.com/en_US...-Pittsburgh-City-Center-Pennsylvania/index.do We stayed there once before we lived so close. There is a Sheraton right at Station Square. http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=693 Maybe RF has some suggestions too. . .

Probably Saturday or Sunday is the best day for us. We are thinking about going to Charlotte over the 4th of July, but will definitely be back by the following weekend.

Hiya, Shelly -- your post with all the places to go looks like you are becoming quite a travel agent! You guys are going to have a blast :goodvibes

Sea, I think Steakhouse 55 would be great to try -- we've been to Hook's Pointe, but never there. What day is your actual birthday? Mine is Friday the 24th, but we are coming in on Saturday the 25th, and will be coming home Thursday the 30th. I already have the time scheduled off work. Tim is pretty sure he can get those days, but he can't request the time off until June  I did pay the extra 30.00 to Get Away today as "change insurance" -- no charges to make changes to the dates, hotel, etc, if we have to. But I really hope he can get those days.

We are seriously thinking about flying. That's what Mike and I did last September. I think it cost us at least 120.00 in gas RT to Anaheim, maybe a bit more, and that trip over the Grapevine is really hard on my little car. And it was 8 hours down, 8 hours back. I checked Jet Blue, and the prices right now are about $107 each, round trip, and that gets us to Long Beach in one hour -- almost like teleporting! :teleport: Not sure yet if we will take a shuttle from the airport or rent a cheap little car. We talked about maybe going to the Pirates dinner show (already been to Medieval Times), and maybe we could go to the beach on the 30th, since we won't have a park ticket that day, so a car would be handy.

Thank you for all this info Shelly! I will look it over in depth tonight.

My bday is the 27th, but we can celebrate it anytime that works best for you.

Good idea on flying down for the trip. I think that Haunted Mansion Holiday might be up and running by then.

:snooty:

Afternoon MAYers!

KB--- how exciting for your next trip!! That will be so wonderful!! :cool1:

Shelly---- we are just so not on the same schedules, are we???? I wanna talk WDW tooooooooooooo--- :rotfl: You're never heeeeerrrrrreeeee anymoooooooorrrrreeeeeee. Wah wah wah.

Sea---- oooh- good question about the trip--! I'd love to order room service breakfast there and then mosey over to the spa for a few hours and then come back and sleep in a hammock. But since I've already spent an arm and a leg- I think we'll do room service and then rent a boat from the marina for a couple of hours and go out in Bay Lake and relax by ourselves. That will be fun. :) So I'm looking forward to that. I'm looking forward to Jiko, and Artist Point for supper- never been to either of those.
ANd I'm hoping that our friends who moved to Florida will be able to join us on one of our nights since we haven't seen them since we left PGH.

Your PGH trip--
my fave hotel downtown is http://www.omnihotels.com/findahotel/PittsburghWilliamPenn.aspx
It is beautiful. On their website it looks like they are running a special for weekends--

Sounds like you guys are going to have fun! :)

YAY ~ JO -- you're here!! :yay: I'm here!!

I had asked for the day off because I have to take DS to the eye doctor this afternoon.

Love your new ticker! :goodvibes It is a lot like your old one isn't it? I had to get one too. I don't like any of the other BW tickers, so I had to go with this one. This one is from a site I hadn't seen before.

I didn't know you guys were going out on a boat on Bay Lake. How fun! :cool1: I really want to do the hot air balloon at DTD next time. Hopefully it won't be so crazy windy this year and it will be open!
