These are NOT the rooms that I paid for! 3 Resorts in 10 days - Trivia Answers 9/3

Love the photos of you with Joh!

Looks like you are in Caesars Palace - we love that hotel!

I hope Joh does a TR on the UK boards about Vegas :)

Aww gee, thanks Brenda for the extra photo. I love it. I'd be willing to bet nobody minds it being posted again at all.
Although, I'm still having a hard time believing these are your kids and this isn't just a photo of all siblings... ;)

Joining in. You and your daughter are just beautiful!

I am excited to read your thoughts on AKL. We are planning to stay there or WL for baby's first trip next year.

Good thing you were paying attention when the driver announced where he was going!!! That was nice of him to take you to AKL and you didn't have to go back to the ME counter!

How annoying to be put on the wrong bus, but like you said-- fun to see the different resorts! They did such an amazing job with the Art of Animation!
That picture of the little boy is amazing!! Just beautiful.
I love those Vegas pictures!! We alternate Vegas/Disney every other year and whichever year it is-- I inevitably miss the other vacation spot!! We love Vegas for a touch of luxury.

That picture of the little boys reflection looking at the WDW sign...OMG, precious!!

Hope you had a great time in Vegas :goodvibes

A couple of updates behind...

Wow, loved your pixie dust appetizer on the airplane. Comfy seats and free food! But even more meaningful than saving a few bucks was the sentiment behind the flight attendant's generosity.

Such a kind man and I kick myself that I didn't take a little time to ask for a comment card to give positive feedback!

Thank you to your son for his service and thanks to you and your family for your sacrifices!
Thank you Dee!

Guess the transportation pixie dust hit a fail at the ME line, though!

Or not. GREAT picture of the boy looking at the magical gates! And having a little tour of new resorts. And a "private" drop off at your resort.

:goodvibes

Thanks for shairng a couple of your Vegas pictures!

No problem! If I can't be in WDW, I may as well be somewhere fun so Vegas will do!

Such a great story on the bus! Loved the PSA :goodvibes

And what is this sighing from the bus driver?? I didn't know CMs were even allowed to sigh! :lmao:

The sighing bus driver... clearly a sign that he is a Mears employee and not a true CM! :rotfl2: (Is that true? I think I've heard that but I don't want to start rumors so maybe I need to research. :confused3)

That is a very cool picture of the WDW portal! Not sure how they directed you to the wrong bus, but I liked the way you handled the situation. Too bad you couldn't figure out how to get the bus driver to take you to the AKL first. :lmao:

Love your "cheating on Epcot" pose!

Ha! MK yes, I had to step up and say something otherwise, he would have found us still on his bus after the last stop.

Christen (francis6306) put that reference to cheating on Epcot on my FB photo album. Very fitting so giving credit to her! :)

How on earth did that happen?! I'm so glad it didn't turn into too much of a problem!

Wow, that picture of the little boy's reflection honestly made me cry! That is the sweetest thing! :goodvibes

Hi Marissa! Yeah... not sure why the CM told us to join the long line of people coming from the far right lines but... at least we arrived at our destination.

It so funny how things can be framed in a different perspective so easily. When I first saw the reflective photo of the little boy I thought, "bummer, I didn't get the sign." But then I looked at it again and thought wow, that little guy is so adorable and it reminded me of my boys when they were little so I cried for an entirely different reason!! :upsidedow

When we stayed at Kidani in September, our ME bus that took us back to the airport stopped at those same resorts (CBR, Pop and AoA). On our way to AKL, we didn't stop anywhere except Jambo house, so I'm not really sure what's up with that. Anyway, I'm glad he didn't throw you and Emily out the door! :lmao:

Hi there! Yes, glad we didn't get put off the bus to go back in line. I wondered about the stops as well since we had not been to AKL. :)

Oh my… Glad you figured it out pretty quickly that you were on the wrong bus! Good thing it was Disney and the CM just decided to take you there! :thumbsup2

(EEK! I was mentioned in your TR! :goodvibes Of course, it was about your Vegas trip, but I'm still excited nonetheless!)

Too bad you don't who the little boy was. That would be a beautiful shot cropped showing the reflection and the sign.

Hi Christen! I almost didn't catch that we were on the wrong bus until he repeated the stops and ours was not mentioned. I asked the lady across from me and she didn't hear AKL either... and the fact that no one else was going there.

You had such a cute comment that I had to share!! :)

I love the pic of the little boy. Magic through the eyes of a child is priceless.

Awww thanks! I wish I had a way to share the photo with his family. That would be wild if they were Disers reading TRs!

Love the photos of you with Joh!

Looks like you are in Caesars Palace - we love that hotel!

I hope Joh does a TR on the UK boards about Vegas :)

Hi Linda! Yes, cocktails at Caesars. (Actually, I was the only one with a cocktail, everyone else had water or soda.) I'll have to ask her if she plans to do a TR on the UK boards. She still is working on her TR from last August! :lmao:

Aww gee, thanks Brenda for the extra photo. I love it. I'd be willing to bet nobody minds it being posted again at all.
Although, I'm still having a hard time believing these are your kids and this isn't just a photo of all siblings... ;)

Hi Rob! Ha... yep they're all mine - birthed 'em myself! ::yes::

Just found your report & here for the ride!

Hi Disneyfan61! Thank you so much for joining! I hope you enjoy the ride. :)

Joining in. You and your daughter are just beautiful!

I am excited to read your thoughts on AKL. We are planning to stay there or WL for baby's first trip next year.

Thanks MrsDrewsky (Doreen)! You are very kind. I love your ticker that shows your baby size as a honeydew! :) I'll be commenting on AKL in my next post! And then more to follow regarding dining there.

Good thing you were paying attention when the driver announced where he was going!!! That was nice of him to take you to AKL and you didn't have to go back to the ME counter!

Uhh yeah so glad that I paid attention. :) I think the pause before he answered was the debate over whether to tell us to go back in line or he'd be a nice guy and deliver us to AKL. I'm glad he chose the later!

Hi Kylie! I know what you mean about missing the place that you skipped until next time. At least you get some vacation variety! Vegas really does have some great hotel choices.

That picture of the little boys reflection looking at the WDW sign...OMG, precious!!

Hope you had a great time in Vegas :goodvibes

Thanks Debra! We had fun... it was all about spending time with these great people so it was fabulous!

Saturday February 23, 2013: Day 1, Part 4

It was fully dark by the time we arrived at AKL so I couldnt get any good photos of the lodge outside. Weve been to AKL only one other time when we ate breakfast at Boma. However, I remembered how stunningly beautiful it was and I wasn't disappointed that it hadn't lost any of its luster or appeal. It was still gorgeous and I was excited that we had decided to book at least the 1 night which was far too short, we'll have to rectify that next time.

I had completed on-line check in prior to arrival. Unfortunately, there was a large group of families that were checking in so it was a bit of a wait. After about 10 minutes the CM at the main check-in called us over. He was so very friendly and helpful. We had our room keys, map of the resort and park information within 2 minutes. He also said that he would be glad to take our arrival photo.

And another angle that shows our feet!!

We had a pool view room 4474 off the Zebra Trail. The lobby is on the 3rd floor so we had to orient ourselves to the layout of the hotel. We found our room with no problem, it was almost at the end of the corridor and in a very quiet location.

My first impression of the room was that it was as nice as the photos online. I loved the wallpaper in the dressing area themed directly from the African savanna. Every little detail of the room completely fit with the theme that you feel you are in a lodge smack dab in the middle of Africa.

I took about 30 photos of the room in the span of about 5 minutes. Since we had dinner reservations at 8:55 for Jiko we didnt have much that we could do since it was already after 7:30 at that point. What better way to pass that time than to watch some Stacy TV! She is so perky and cute!! I was glad to see that her park highlights had been updated to include the new Fantasyland.

Our luggage arrived shortly after we arrived in the room. (The first time that we have been in the room when the bags were delivered.) After a quick change of clothes and freshening up we were ready to head to dinner. We only took 1 wrong turn and figured our way over to the restaurant by using our super powerful sense of direction. Actually, we had been to the pool area the one and only time wed been to AKL so the path over to Jiko and Boma looked familiar.

Next Up: Dinner at AKL.....

Love your arrival photos at AKL! Some day I fully intend to at least visit and definitely eat at Jiko. Maybe we'll even stay there one day. I just worry that DH would never let us leave the resort because he adores watching animals.

Great pictures of your AKL room!

We're planning on booking our next visit to Disney at AKL. Had a couple of chances to look around a bit when we were there for our Boma dinners. It's such a beautiful resort. And I can't wait to eat at Jiko!

I've lurked my way through your reports, but it's time to come out and play. Seeing the trips you and Em take makes me wish I had done the same with my mother, and I definitely plan to do it with my own daughter some day!

I need to stay at AKL. I love that resort! I can't believe you got put on the wrong bus! That is odd. It is nice he took you there but still stinks it took a lot of extra time!

AKL is honestly my top dream resort at this point. I've never even set foot in the place! I just need to stay there!!! It's so gorgeous, and I've only seen photos! Plus... ANIMALS.

Anyways...

That room is so pretty! YAY for watching Stacey! She's the best!

It looks as if you had a blast in Vegas. :thumbsup2

I cannot believe they put you on the wrong bus! But what a sweet bus driver to take you there himself (well, after he finally gave you an answer :rotfl:). And it turned out to be a good way to see the outside of some resorts you've never seen.

It was very nice of the CM to take your "welcome pictures." Your room is lovely (I do love the AKL!).

Isn't the Animal Kingdom Lodge just beautiful?! How nice that the CM offered to take your picture! The pictures are great! :thumbsup2

I know exactly where your room was! My room from last February was just down a floor and closer to the lobby (but on the same wing). I also thought the wallpaper was really fun to look at!

I absolutely agree that the path to the restaurants is a bit confusing. I'm glad I had a chance to explore the resort before we had to find our way to dinner!

I already enjoyed Em's reviews of Jiko, but I'm looking forward to hearing your point of view!

I am so going to check out as many resorts as I can next time I'm in the World.
I've never set foot in the AKL, and that must be corrected!

The bonus photos of you and Joh in Vegas are great! How fun that you got a chance to meet up outside of WDW.

I never thought to have the CM behind the check-in desk take an arrival picture. Very clever! I might have to try that next time.

You can tell by the list of Disney trips in my signature that we really liked AKL, staying there twice in a row. Loved the sunset safari (extra cost but only available to guests of AKL), thoroughly enjoyed breakfasts at Boma and used to be crazy over dinner at Boma but not so much on this past trip. Jiko is wonderful and, perhaps best of all, are the ANIMALS!
