FEBRUARY 11, 2015 - GETTING READY:
1) Packed clothes into a carry-on-sized luggage, so as to not take too much.
2) Checked tuning on my 5-string banjo and my 12-string guitar.
3) Packed food, soda, single malt scotch, munchies, single malt scotch, teas, pre-made chili, single malt scotch
4) Left house to drive to airport to pick up both grown daughters (no grandkids this vacation!).
5) Caught foot in driveway crack and stumbled.
6) Broke my spirit, dented my ego, bent the estimation of my own agility and grace.
SO ENDTH THE "TRIP" REPORT FOR DAY-ZERO. MORE TO FOLLOW.
FEBRUARY 12, 2015 - DAY ONE - WE GO EXPLORIN'
1) The kids had dinner last night and slept early this morn.
2) Don't they know they should be tired and sleep late?
3) Or, at least let us old fogies sleep?
4) We decided to check out the resorts (in no certain order), as they hadn't "explored" in a few years.
. . . decided "exploring" was the way to look around
. . . I have found out, when I drive the wife: When You Call It Exploring, You Are Never Lost
5) And, as one does when one explores, we had to "hydrate".
6) We made sure we hydrated with at least 7-ounces of mix and 1-ounce of alcohol at each resort.
7) They saw nice resorts - when they could see, early in the day.
8) After visiting EVERY resort, we had dinner at Shula's.
. . . the others had steaks
. . . I had Sea Scallops
. . . we shared, communally, the HUGE sides and a couple of bottles of Syrah and Burgundy
9) Somehow we found our way back to The Fort, and our cabin.
10) I sat on the porch and picked the banjo for a while, while daughter #1 strummed the 12-string.
. . . a few folks waved as they walked by
. . . no one stopped and joined-in
. . . maybe my singing scared them away
. . . my voice has been compared to fingernails on a blackboard
. . . cats have been know to screech and dogs howl
11) Good times.
NEXT, DAY TWO - DRINKING AROUND THE EPCOT WORLD (I sense a theme, here)
